I read online that in the novel, she is already married when ML returns to his hometown.
The script gave her more room of expression of range of emotions and a heroic act. She could have die being recklessly riding out on her own to search for the General in such turbulence time. Ms Su’s appearance to save her was just so fortunate.
Her love story is like a fairy tale, just very sweet to watch. lol!

You are not wrong there. LXR is trying very hard to be human, and since she lost her own child and wearing a human skin, she is trying to learn their ways.
