You are right that she seems to try too hard to act and sounds young, maybe she thought the character is young🤷🏻‍♀️. It’s probably her interpretation, let’s see whether she will grow on me…her character in the story is actually not too bad, bold and courageous and also very understanding.

I didn’t read the novel, but by how the drama presented it, this script wanted to give more depth to Zeng Jie’s character, as he is someone being emasculated by women and with his biological inferiority, it could leads to his psychological vulnerability and imbalance easily, hence resulting in committing murder, his high hunger to pursue for power and his fear of imperfection as well as his promiscuity behaviour. He feels ‘flaw’ as a man.

In recent casts interview, Sun Qian confirmed that she dubbed herself for this show.
It’s definitely a miscast, a more experienced actress will probably show a better portrayal of this character.

Yes, the original novel has emphasis on NuWa the creator of all the Earth species, including human being, Fiends and Ghouls, the Black and White barriers to maintain order, how the Emperor Win obsessed about immortality, sent a group of elite army to search for the secrets of immortality and discovered Fiends. Technically, fiends have immortality.
And the c censorship is always concern about over glorifying superstitious beliefs.
Hence likely why the script has added the meteorite as the cause. The whole script for this drama has yet been fully revealed, so not sure how the story will be.

Just a novel spoiler which I don’t think this drama can show. In the novel, Que Cha loves Uncle Jiang or maybe like a girl crush, and Whip girl ‘loves’ her. So it’s a little like a triangle relationship. However the drama shows a little now that Whip girl is very nice and supportive to help Que Cha becoming stronger…maybe the only way this drama can portray subtly their ‘love’ relationship.😬
