Anyone who thinks Dilraba and Arthur have no chemistry are either blind or saying so because the age gap "offends"…
🤣 that is exactly what I thought. How can they be offended by the age gap when she is only less than a decade older and you hardly notice it at all. I personally think there r so many DD haters or people who don't like this type of genre and that might be why it is rated low on MDL. This show at least deserves 9 without a doubt

people really have different tastes. I saw many criticisms about this drama, especially about the main leads' chemistry which they say is lacking. But now that I've watched it, it's the opposite for me. The main leads are oozing with hot chemistry. Contrary to what other people say, the age gap didn't bother me at all as it's appropriate for the characters they play. The tone is also dark and mystical, unlike most chinese dramas I've watched which are more flashy and magical, but I like this one better, it leans more towards kdrama vibes especially how the Osts are used to make each scene more impactful and heartfelt. Ep 1 has really hooked me, it has a promising start, I hope it won't fall off in the later parts.

Finished this a couple of days ago and wanted to share my take - but I had to sit with it for a bit - not because…
FL being cautious seemed very on point to me. Picture this: you've been alive hundreds of years. Your lover will survive another 40-ish years - or maybe just a couple years if he faces issues on the battlefield. Then you're left behind heartbroken. Again (FL already lost her mother as well as mortal friends and apparently lovers). I'm not sure I'd be willing to start a relationship that will make me happy for a few decades and sad for a several centuries. In a way, it's a big sacrifice.

Even though it is an action drama, the main couple had more sweet scenes together than most new romcoms I watched. The story was also decent if we ignore the many plotholes. I mean, wtf is this stupid "top secret" NSS where everybody has access to the servers and other sensitive infrastructure?

Also, some of the characters were super cringey, and it didn't help that the actors were mediocre at best, especially the cringey forensic guy in his dirty office, and the cringey assassin with his nice shoes.

The last minute drama was not necessary in my opinion.

All in all, I found this drama quite entertaining despite the hyperactive film editing. Good grief, I don't need to see the actor from 3 different angles within 3 seconds, I want to see his face where he is trying to display emotions!!!

May your pillow always be cool on both sides, your bed comfortable and your coffee/ tea the right temperature, always. I watched the first 6 episodes on YT in '07 and have spent almost 20 years looking for the remaining episodes . Thank you so much!!! \(^.^)/

The description on MDL feels completely different to what I just watched. I don’t remember the director and the actor being in a relationship.
I thought it was always the two actors skirting round each other and the director was just a creepy pervert the whole time blackmailing one of the actors with pictures and videos. Hence why one of them was living with him (most likely forced), severely depressed and cutting himself, whilst being monitored in every room of the house.
Throwing himself in front of the director at the end so his lover kills him is, I assume, because he wanted to die and not be in “hell” anymore as he wasn’t a “devil” like the director claims he was for some reason.
I don’t believe things were explained very well and you kind of grasp at straws throughout the film trying to make sense of it all, maybe it’s the subtitles that were lacking or just the film in general who knows.

should have been nominated for the oscars, too bad the white dominated industry is anti-asian cinema

This movie is so good I only came across it because i searched for the wrong thing on my drama website and i'm surprised no one is talking about it. If you enjoy psychological thrillers you have to watch this and i would rate this a 8/9 because it's that good. i was surprised by the low rating and the people that found it boring because i found it engaging from the very first scene

quite a sad movie about a broken mentor-subordinate relationship and a character finding his feelings. The acting was very well done, the story would have profited if it had been a tad bit longer in order to truly grasp the specific feelings of the couple.
Still, this movie gives you quite nostalgic feelings! The production is so typical for late 90ties/early 00s it truly makes you wish some elements would still exist in today's productions.
7,5/10
