This is not a remake or adaptation of Addicted It's a Taiwanese adaptation of Mou MouEven the synopsis says Adapted…
Yeah, I saw in the synapsis that this show is based on a different novel. But reading the details made me blink twice. Stepbrothers, rivlary, parents dating...LOL. Details create a story, though, so this might be completely different despite sharing the setting or broad strokes of Addicted.
Machine translations are doing my head in. Did Zhou tell Rao Jing that dating in the same department is allowed in the bank?? And that a married couple is openly working together in one of the departments?
Wondering why TXN doesn't remember her interactions JYH during their high school days. She knew who he is and…
It probably didn't leave a lasting impression on her. She does remember him-recall that she greeted him and knew who he was when they met again in episode one. But it's been years since highschool. Those short interactions meant a lot to JYH bc he was going through a lot emotionally. As for TXN, she was just being nice to a classmate for a few minutes. Nothing earthshattering to her. So those memories faded with time.
They’ve given him motivation. As a novel reader, this change is okay. Just like movies and dramas are expected…
Yes, he has motivation, but it's different than the novel. His altered backstory makes him a different person.
A good adaptation captures the spirit and feeling of the novel. Some changes are inevitable for the transfer of page to screen. But other changes are unnecessary. Those unnecessary changes are generally because the show creators want to make a name for themselves which distiguishes them from the novel's author, or the showrunners want to attract an audience which is different than the reader base so they change the show to suit that audience. IMO both reasons are horrible and highly disrespectful to the author and the readership.
In the novel, it was his loss of his father and care for his mother which made him cold and somewhat antisocial to others, and fed his ambition. It was also his humanity, his soft side.
He'd always liked the FL, but seeing her devotion to his mom after their marriage enhanced that a lot. (And yes, it annoys me that they're not married yet.) Also, the FL's care for her MIL brought much-needed balance and equality to their relationship--something sorely lacking in the show. He basically does everything for her, while she brings nothing of value to their relationship. He's immensely successful while she is floundering and failing.
I understand what you're saying about waiting for it to finish before complaining. But I can't help myself. Each episode diverges farther away from the novel rather than closing the gap. The latest episode where we see how well the FL's parents are taking care of the ML's mom, when it should have been the FL taking care of her MIL, really upset me. This is exacerbated by them changing it to the SFL discovering the issue with the FL's first account, rather than the ML. It's excruciating for her and feeding all her fears of inadequacy. The "competition" which the ML and FL decided on is just plain dumb and I can foresee it wrecking their relationship. All these changes are fundamental. Their entire relationship trajectory is ruined IMO. I am just beyond frustrated.
Yeah. She's beyond annoying. Making it seem like she's all that, when the only thing she's got going for her is…
He did tell he to do a proper check mutiple times. She was looking in the wrong places, though, so she wasn't able to find it out. The SFL is an utter snake for not telling her and going to the ML instead.
That nepo baby is pissing me off.Imagine working your hardest and at every chance they get they undermine you.
Yeah. She's beyond annoying. Making it seem like she's all that, when the only thing she's got going for her is luck of birth. I feel so bad for the FL. She deserves a hug.
Again I am back to ask "Why!!!!" Why do they insist on changing aspects of the novel that DID NOT NEED CHANGING!!!
The way the FL's parents treat the ML's mom is heartwarming. It's lovely to see their relationship. But!!! In the novel, it was the FL taking care of her MIL. For a large part of the novel, especially right after the ML and FL got together, the MIL was in the hospital and the ML was busy with work. So the FL was very devoted to her MIL and always went to the hospital with food, company, etc. It showed that while the ML was extremely caring, the FL brought her end of the bargain too, in taking care of her MIL like a devoted daughter. It brought balance to their relationship and gave them something to care about mutually. Why the heck the show changed that is beyond me.
Also, in the novel the MIL had a great relationship with her son. She did not fall into a depression after her husband died, nor did she leave her son to fend for himself. Giving the ML a devoted and caring mother explains why he worked so hard to succeed - in order to take care of her and pay her back, and it also gives him a solid foundation for being a good husband- his parents had a good marriage plus his mom loved him and cared for him unconditionally. I liked that part of the novel, so again....why why WHY did the show change it??? Why detract from something so integral to the ML's character?
These details are important to character building. GRRRRR!!!!!!! Beyond furstrating.
Just caught up to all the episodes.. but disappointed. The trailer amd synopsis are misleading. They never got…
The novel was like that. It was an incredible story. Was hoping the show would follow it. Unfortunately, they made some horrid changes. At this point I don't know if I can call the show good, bad, or mediocre. But I'm defintely disappointed that it doesn't follow the novel.
I have a stupid question, so sorry ….How do we know they didn’t use a condom? I mean ml seems very very organize,…
I really don't know for sure, but it seems that the novel tried to stay true to life. It included details about finance and banking along with an author's notes which explained that all the details were factual. So I assume this is accurate too? But I'm not 100% sure. It could just be a plot device.
The author wrote that those clinics could tell who browsed their sites by collecting cookies or something from visitors. The FL used her cellphone to do the web search so it picked up her phone number and she started getting marketing calls.
But reading the details made me blink twice. Stepbrothers, rivlary, parents dating...LOL. Details create a story, though, so this might be completely different despite sharing the setting or broad strokes of Addicted.
