that was such a bad bad representation.... If you are a teacher watching fhis drama ifs enough to roll your eyes
They can cry foul all they want. The education system in sk is messed up, with parents and especially students truly suffering. If teachers truly cared they'd speak up on the issues and fight for improvements. Instead they're fighting to protect what? Their face? Their repuatation? Horrible.

I keep on seeing comments comparing this to one spring night.
Is there anyone who likes this show so far but did not like one spring night? Because I tried to watch one spring night but didn't like it. It didn't capture my interest at all. But this show, on the other hand, grabbed me from the first minute and hasn't let go. Am i the only one?

I feel bad for all the people who think the drama is TOO slow...like do u really have that short span memory??…
Exactly!! The chemistry is on fire and i'm loving seeing them interract and slowly get to know each other in different roles. And you can hardly call the rest of the story boring. She's fighting for her students, new employees coming in, his parents, etc... tons of stuff happening. The pace is great imo. I'm enjoying every minute.

WHAT IS EX-LOVER RS AND EXES REUNITING TAG DOING THERE??
Exactly!! I saw it and blinked. Idk what it means, but if they introduce some stupid juvenile love triagle I will strangle them through my screen, I swear!!

I wonder if the reason why she truly actually doesn't want him at the academy is because she doesn't want him…
Unlikely. She was against it from the start, even before he did the audition and they saw he has the raw talent, if not the experience.
Remember, she had no issues with them hiring the other female teacher she mentioned at the restaurant, the one with almost 10 years of experience.
She has no reason to be threatened by anyone, least of all a newbie like the ml. She's good at her job, has years of experience, lots of success stories, and parents vie for her. She's at the top of her game atm.

can anyone tell me the first impressions ???
vibe is very real to life. chemistry is off the charts. i love the main leads. i like how intelligent the writing and the story is. get ready for a slow burn if you' re planning to watch. but, at the same time, there's always something happening.

yes, it's very sad. i remember reading somewhere that by the time these kids get to college, many of them face actual burnout.

for joon's father, i think it's a class, status, money thing.

the only one i can think of is called sky castle, another kdrama. i haven't watched it myself, but i think it firts the mold of being about the pressures of society and the insane lengths parents will go to see their kids succeed.

sorry, i don't understand your question?
the ksat is the korean university entrance exam. students begin studying for this exam really early on in high school, the country basically shuts down on the day of this exam even grounding flights so that students aren't disturbed by planes flying overhead during the exam period, and compared to the american sat it's a much more difficult exam.

Blame the government and society. The educational system (made/backed by the govt) makes it impossible for students…
hagwon is the name for a private learning academy. the root word "hak" means school. these academies are all across sk for students of different ages, and some of them specialize is different types of classes. like some for art, some for language, etc.

I found this article from a quick google search. I'm not vouching for the accuracy of this particular author/publication, but the sentiments conveyed in the article mimic what I've heard/watched from other legitimate sources and south korean students.

Many of them don't. That's the insane part. If you're interested you can research this. It's a serious problem in SK.

As per the novel, you're right. He did fall for "Tong's" back, which was actually always Joe. :)

My biggest problem with this drama is that I'm so annoyed by the 'academy system'.. I would be 100% on the school…
Blame the government and society. The educational system (made/backed by the govt) makes it impossible for students to get into good or even decent universities with only regular/traditional schooling. These kids need to attend extra classes at hagwons or with private tutors after school until late into the night and on weekends in order to get into universities. (It's not like in other countries where extra turoting/classes makes you "better". In Korea you need this extra to be only "good" or competent.) The society and culture is also such that not attending university is unacceptable. Students who don't go to university are really looked down upon and percieved as less than and deficient. The pressure is insane. Parents shell out hundreds and thousands of dollars for this and students are pushed beyond their limits. That's the sad reality.

Talk about a "slow burn"...these two strike crazy sparks off each other!! I've rarely seen chemistry done this well. Mature chemistry too!!! This is pure fire.

Now, talk to me about this 15+ rating. What does that mean in Korea? Is that like PG-13? Because if yes, and they keep things kid-friendly after this buildup, then I will riot!!!!!!

why are mock exams so important?
They're closely modled after the real exams. Most of these mock tests follow the KSAT standards and models (Korean SATs). Students are training for them.
