Thinking if I should read the novel… can someone tell me how similar it is till now? And what are the most diverging…
The show is very true to the novel. One point of divergence is that in the book Mings sister is awful and in the show she’s a sweetheart. Also, the book is more emotional since the author tells you exactly what the characters feel while the show can’t fully reach that depth.
I also read the novel. I like them both equally. The show does a phenomenal job of bringing the novel to life. I also like some of the changes the show made, like Ming’s sister being a sweetheart. In the novel she was horrible.
I love the pacing of the show! But if episode 4 deals with the accident and episode 5 brings us back to the present time, I wonder how they’ll fill up all 12 full episodes. Seems like too little content. 🤔 I’m also loving Ming’s sister!! So glad she’s changed from the novel version.
Fair warning people. If you read the book then you know this already, but...You'll want to slap Ming before all is over, but Tong? ...You'll want to kill that man...slowly.... painfully....lmao
He stays in the new body. He never tells his “mom” the truth, but stays her son and takes care of her. Only Ming, Sol, and his P’ (dude from the hospital- forgot his name) know the truth about him being the “old” Joe. About midway through the book, “old” Joe’s body(dead) is discovered and it’s a major turning point in the story.
They do get a happily ever after. Joe makes Ming work for it tho lol. And, as a major spoiler…., in the book, Ming fell in love with Tong when he saw him in a movie. But!! The shot that caught his interest was an action scene which showed Tong’s back. In reality it wasn’t Tong at all, but his stand-in…Joe!!! Ming figures it out but doesnt reveal it until wayyyy after Joe comes back to life. :)
Qian always loved him romantically but was confused....when he stopped yuan it meant his mind has almost accepted…
See, that's what I thought too! It makes sense. But!!!!
Is there a problem with the tranlation, or was Qian in denial about what he was feeling? Because he should've said something like: my feelings for you have changed, I can actually see you in a romantic light, but I'm afraid about what that means in the greater sense of things and I'm conflicted about pursing this path. What he actually told Yuan was that he wasn't sure romance was at all possible and that he didn't actually know what type of love he was feeling.
