Turns out, there's really no place like home

If only they had a better female lead than Fukada Kyoko. She is the worst actress I've seen on screen. Also the luckiest haha

Fun, somewhat predictable, a talented duo with chemistry and playfulness. The ending is a bit off. On one hand, they left the main case somewhat open, on the other hand, thankfully, it was definitive as to what happened during the events 7 years prior to the events of this case. Are they planning a season 2? They didn't leave enough mystery to want a 2nd season though. That is, other than the daily banter between those two haha

This movie got much more through me than I expected. No matter where you are, how small you are, if you do the right thing, you will have an impact. And that impact may do more than you can ever imagine. That doesn't mean you will get the title of hero, but you will know you made the world a better place.

Totally agree with all 4 points. I'd also add love triangles (or squares, pentagons...) not for the presence of it but for having completely unreasonable, or mentally ill second leads (with their actions being portrayed as normal bitchiness).

And also NOBLE IDIOCY!
On Kiseki: Sobito of That Day May 22, 2020
It was entertaining, eye candy, predictable... The poster suggests a much lighter tone than what we get. It is a light movie overall, but I found the portrayal of the parents to be pretty dark. It wasn't really addressed, just presented. The dad was pretty obvious with his expectations and violence, but I found the mom's passive-aggressive demeanor to be scarier. I wonder if it was intentional.

Oh no I agree with you about the mother. It's just that we can't really believe her, nor him or his sister. So there is a lot of uncertainties. Whether what she said is true or not, she's still a crappy mother. I just hate it. She brings them to this world. Their dad turns out to be a sick bastard, what do you do, you discard them and start anew?!

Unless she didn't tell him, and he found out later. Or unless he didn't want the child born.

Kinda disappointed they don't show how the couples who got murdered meet each other and probably is just me that…
But not their daughter, not to die in this way. Then again, in that world, maybe she's better off dead.

I edit for such articles! Such a Gem!

And yeah I think it really depends on where you are in life. When I read what makes a mediator I still feel connections, but I guess my priorities changed.

Agree the ex-bf story made no sense!

I enjoyed here what we seldom see in modern Japanese drama, which is chemistry between characters. However, As much as the first half was enjoyable, the second half didn't make sense to me. The last scene was sweet but didn't make sense with me.

No I agree with you on that point. I just thought it'd be more interesting to explore what had happened. However it felt her going for him was keeping her from going forward. But going for that nurse felt like going backwards XD kiddin'

Yup agreed about the lack of motivating factors. Basically they all felt forced. Ryuko had some chemistry with Koishikawa and their relationship felt more interesting.
On An Incurable Case of Love May 3, 2020
What I liked most here is how Tendo to Nanase wasn't the end goal but the motivation. It adds more to the character than just being dreamy about her prince charming. Her life does not depend on his whim. Her life depends on her actions and life choices. And that was also how Tendo expected her to be.

It's a light, fun to watch with likable characters drama. A friendly working environment that does not exist in real life. Still heartwarming to watch. The side stories the first couple of episodes were fun. The characters that came later on just to make the leads' life harder were completely useless. The events the last 2 episodes made no sense. The main couple didn't have much chemistry. The 2nd couple was worse.

That is why I always hated that story. I only watched the Japanese version but I hated it. This guy is supposed to be the antagonist not the male lead! In reality this relationship would either end badly or continue until Makino loses her mind.

All those around me are either not into TV or too close-minded to try watching something from a different culture.

Have you ever seen "It Started With a Kiss" & the sequel "They Kiss Again"? It's the older Taiwanese version of and probably the best version (in my opinion). It's also one of those rare cases where I preferred the sequel over the first season.

It may seem like that I'm nitpicking, but I can't help but think about the Original Wang Quen Sheng (the Gay one),…
And maybe Mo Jun Jie and his grandma, but otherwise yeah it's as if they are non-existent. I've been thinking of that like halfway through the drama.
