This episode opens with a poignant and reflective literature lesson, setting the tone for the delicate interplay…
Just wanted to say, I love to read your analysis, especially the incorporation of Chinese culture in these episodes that non native Chinese are often unaware of.
I am also sure that it was Qi Jia Hao that locked Jiang Tian and Sheng Wang in the sports hall. And did Qi Jia…
As I discussed earlier with you I don't think Qi jia hao really tried to commit suicide..it was more like him losing his popularity that made him feel that he was dead.
I was also disappointed when they didn't address Jing's kidnapping by Qi Jia hoa's thugs...the series should have showed him being punished for that.
That's true their friends knew that something must be wrong so they contacted xi ge and Lin...they never believed that Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian would abandon them.
Who wouldn't love a person like Jiang Tian? He didn't hesitate to rummage through dustbins because he saw how upset Sheng Wang was when he lost his purse. (Purse/ wallet/ card holder)
I don't think Jiang Tian saw the transportation card that he had given earlier to Sheng Wang in that Wallet. Jiang Tian just saw how upset Sheng Wang was after losing the wallet so he kept searching for it.
Sheng Wang valued the card hence he was agitated after losing the wallet in which he had kept the card.
Sheng Wang puts great value to small things given by Jiang Tian and Jiang Tian would try his best to give whatever that would make Sheng Wang happy.
If that's not true love, I don't know what else is?
The phrase "choose the moon or sixpence" refers to a metaphorical choice between pursuing lofty dreams and ideals…
Sheng Wang was discussing the story "the moon and the sixpence " that his mother often told him.
Sheng Wang's mother once asked Sheng Wang's father what he would choose? Sheng Wang's father chose the sixpence as it was near and more achievable.
Sheng Wang revealed to Jiang Tian that his mother hoped that Sheng Wang would choose the "moon" for her.
Sheng Wang then asked what Jiang Tian would choose, after some caustic remark as to how young they were to think about such philosophical things yet, Jiang Tian said he would choose the "moon" (metaphorically he would choose Sheng Wang and their romantic relationship)
Probably Jiang Tian has already made peace with his choice of loving Sheng Wang in some yet undisclosed part of his heart....The question is what would Sheng Wang choose now?
The phrase "choose the moon or sixpence" refers to a metaphorical choice between pursuing lofty dreams and ideals ("the moon") or more practical, material goals ("sixpence"). It's inspired by the novel The Moon and Sixpence by W. Somerset Maugham, where the protagonist leaves a conventional life for a more fulfilling yet unpredictable path as an artist.
Which would you chooseβthe dream or the practicality?
The age old conflict between - fulfilling societal expectations versus persuing personal ambitions or happiness.
Jiang Tian revealed to Sheng Wang what his choice would be.....what would Sheng Wang choose in the end?
FOR ME it's a steady flame of a candle, giving brightness through the dark night rather than a quick display of fireworks.
IN MY OPINION, a romantic relationship is sustained for a long time when there is passion and attraction along with endurance and companionship. In any media, I look for a deep bond of trust that is built over time, irrespective of the gender of lovers.
As important as it is to show the grand gesture of giving expensive gifts, taking your loved one on a romantic date or grand vacations. It is equally important to help the person in their chores and mundane daily routine.
Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian's love may not be a blaze of passion but it is like a steady burning candle. Just as you put one brick at a time to build your dream home, small gestures add up to a grand romance that is based on emotional connection followed by physical intimacy that withstands the test of time.
* Starting from Sheng Wang stopped Jiang Tian from leaving when Jiang Tian might have left from outside the gate.(Episode 1) * Jiang Tian showed up to pay Sheng Wang's food bill when Sheng Wang had forgotten to take his wallet (as soon as Jiang Tian arrived even though he was irritated, there was a shift in Sheng Wang's expression that signified that someone came to bail him out when he needed help) * Jiang Tian without caring for his reputation of being an ace student, jumped in the fight when Sheng Wang was being beaten.
( Many many such instances add layers to their relationship : shared experiences, having each other's back, supporting the other, add depth to their attraction. )
Absolutely NOTHING wrong with sharing or showing physical intimacy between two people who are deeply in love or just having a casual fling, irrespective of their genders.
But once again in MY Opinion just physical intimacy without emotional connection lasts a short time. Series like this where two protagonists build their relationship slowly over the years from being friends/acquaintance to lovers is MY favourite trope.
Sometimes I miss old Romantic Classics where actors relied more on their expressions and body language to convey longing for their beloved ....This and some other series remind me of those times where romantic tension could be FELT with gestures and eyes.
Thanks to the original source for the spoiler and also thank you for posting it here........The spoiler is more…
Then we may end season 1 with confession ( happy ending)........and maybe the separation that everyone is talking about will happen in season 2( hopefully we will get a season 2)
The director wrote on IG 2 hours ago:"Thank you to all international fan, I feel really connected, and united…
That's good news.
I think the director is also quite bent upon making season 2. If the international audience continue to view on legal platforms and keep leaving postive feedback on their official accounts, there is 95% probability that season 2 will get green signal.
Spoilers for ep 11https://x.com/lucerna_321/status/1837849388544381063?s=46&t=w1_gbLmT3E_SkqouqLYbYQ
Thanks to the original source for the spoiler and also thank you for posting it here........The spoiler is more like a synopsis ππ...but we will take what we can get.
what does this mean pushed(banged) Liu Dong Qin (Sheng Wang) against a wall for his protection.....I wonder in what context this is?βπ§
Benjamin Tsang (Jiang Tian) catches some cockroaches with bare hands...that is a definite way to show true love.π
Apart from this summary, let's see what else is in store for us.
One person will write a disparaging comment regarding a post. Soon enough some people will respond with jeering comments in support of the snide comment.
Everybody has an opinion whether positive, neutral or negative. It depends on an individual's preference and perception of the series. I respect all opinions as this is a forum to share different view points. Resorting to bullying people for either having a positive opinion or a negative opinion is a form of "censoring and oppressing" dissenting thoughts and such behaviour is beneath contempt.
I am baffled by some peoples' attitude wherein politeness and respect is considered "overrated" and rudeness and provocative remarks are applauded for being "progressive".
It's so strange, the same people who zealously fight for their rights and demand freedom of speech and expression, trample gleefully over other peoples' beliefs and rights in an unceremonious manner.
If people demand the right to criticize something then why do they ridicule others for praising it? Shouldn't tolerance and acceptability of varied opinions be a two-way street? MDL is large enough to accommodate both the viewpoints without the need of figuratively stepping on each others' toes.
I agree that because I am leaving a comment on a public forum, I should be ready to accept a response to it.
But when it comes to countering the response given, I CHOOSE to respond to only those comments that are written respectfully. So henceforth, in reply to any and all derisive, inflammatory or aggressive comments. My answer will be, not interested in engaging in further communication. Bye. ( Not because I don't have a valid response but I don't wish to WASTE my time in NEVER ENDING arguments that have nothing to do with the plot or topic of ongoing discussion of the 'series')
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. And the society is quite unforgiving and judgmental where such 'different' relationships are concerned.
As far as my personal outlook is concerned....I can accept loving relationships between two consenting adults provided they are not cheating on their current partner or forgoing responsibility towards their minor kids, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, age, gender etc
Jiang Tian's profile name on the chat messenger is period (.).
In episode 2 after adding Jiang Tian contact number, Sheng Wang gets a notification: you have a new contact "."
Sheng Wang ponders regarding the profile name Period(.), "Who is this? Period(.)?(Looking at Jiang Tian)What is this? Speechless? Or do you know that others have nothing to say to you?"
Linking this to episode 9 and the conversation regarding period (.) and ellipsis (......), it seems that Jiang Tian has opened up, his tendency of wanting things to be at 'period' (wanting for things to be at an end) he has progressed to ellipsis (has many things unsaid).
Jiang Tian was very very jealous when Xi ge pointed out that pepper/Chilli wanted to get Sheng Wang's attention.
Probably he wanted to convey that these two would leave their friends at a drop of a hat.
I also think the last episode maybe a little longer in duration if they really want to resolve so many issues.
I don't think Jiang Tian saw the transportation card that he had given earlier to Sheng Wang in that Wallet. Jiang Tian just saw how upset Sheng Wang was after losing the wallet so he kept searching for it.

Everyone views Romance differently.
