Hiya PrettyC, well I'm done with vacation obviously LOL and back to work doing long hours. Japan trip went down the tube in favour of a Sri Lankan travel to CHOGM, but that too went south...*sigh*. But may get a posting to Beijing, so I'm told so I'm keeping everything crossed from eyes, toes, fingers etc. Been watching chinese lately; saw Greatest Love and really got to appreciate 'Cha Seung Won'; I'd seen him in other stuff and while I thought he was a great actor he didn't appeal to me much until this drama. Watched Orange Days and quite enjoyed that . Started watching Beautiful Days but didn't much like the way it was going so I cheated with a synopsis on Spcnet.tv and from what I read I knew I would not like the characters so I'm going to leave it for now.

Thanks for the request. I must tell you I'm not very good on prompt responses so be patient with me.
I enjoyed this movie. It has good action, great cinematography, and very likeable characters. It can be a bit confusing but it's manageable.

XD Guilty! So in penance I looked 'Lovers' up and it does sound pretty interesting, so indeed I have put it on my 'plan to watch' list. After Condor I will return to my Padam and then probably take in Lovers, so thanks for the recommend. I already had 3 Iron on my list as again it sounded like a departure from the normal conservative romances (nothing wrong with that) but sometimes I like the dish to be hot and/or spicy for variety ;-). Are you still having fun with GG? Isn't it a coaster ride?
I'm really enjoying this drama. I particularly like the characters of Guo Jing, simple though he may be, but honorable, courageous, kind and sweet, and Huang Rong whose feisty, smart, brave and most of all 'not easily duped' (hallelujah!!). Hate those wimpy, crying, stupid chicks I'd like to slap them silly. Rong reads people well and takes counter measures.

:-D It's confirmed we share same tastes LOL. I had the same Go Soo reaction. You'll like the romance, though it's not front and center, trust me. Condor is epic, a whopping 50 eps, and I'm watching it on Gooddrama.net so its four parts per ep so you do the maths of the headache of streaming however, surprisingly, it's very good. It's a huge script, lots of subplots, characters etc., quite a bit of fantasy but it's all handled very competently (some bad sp fx). The story is very coherent despite the epic size and you feel for the characters. The good and evil characters are not so cut and dried, and the 'fool' is simply so charming that you can't help but to love him and root for him and celebrate his victories. When you have some spare time you should at least start it and if it doesn't suit you drop it, but give it a go when you feel in the mood for wuxia. Go Soo was riveting.

LOL...I actually do remember! That's where I learned that talking and shouting at the movies was normal Ha ha! The Condor one I'm watching is 2008, and I'm liking it being as I am a sucker for wuxia, even the bad ones. I watched Family Honor and enjoyed it. An entertaining family drama, interesting characters; a good watch. Under the Hawthorne is sad but because it's a short movie, it's not heart wrenching like the dramas where you build up the affinity and live through the suffering etc. But sad is sad, and I usually try to avoid them; the day I watched that I think I wanted to go the the opposite end of 'hype' so I elected sad even though I was actually looking for a comedy LOL. Something about it peaked my interest and I ended up with that...good and short.

LOL PrettyC you are a scream!! But yeah I get where you're coming from XD. I did finish GG...found the ending a bit puzzling, as I expected something more in keeping with character; but I still must say I enjoyed it very much. Don't think I would marathon it again though, as it is far too intense episode after episode. I took some breaks to get a breather but couldn't bear to go to something else as I wanted to watch the rest of it. I would have liked to have seen more background scenes of certain main characters so that I could understand them better and empathize with their plight. To calm down, I watched a short Chinese romance movie right after, "Under The Hawthorne Tree', which was great because it was a simple, pure, love story though sad but sweet; it reminded me of an old classic type of movie, from the style so it won't be to everyone's taste, but I really liked it. I'm currently watching 'Legend of the Condor Heroes' and enjoying it.

:)) Certainly. I really enjoyed him in 'Love 911' with Han Hyo Joo (like her a lot), and the drama 'Green Rose' with Lee Da Hae. 'Will It Snow For Christmas' had so so ratings, but I enjoyed him in it. Other work he's done which look very interesting to me, and which I plan to watch are the movies 'Some', 'White Knight' and 'The Front Line' which you've seen already. I started to watch his movie 'Psychic' but dropped it early because of the story... I may pick it up again. Kang Don Won is in it so if you're a fan it may be an added incentive. His latest project 'The Road Home' sounds like an interesting movie so I'll be looking forward to that. I hope you enjoy your next encounter with our Go Soo...

I too saw the 'taming of the tiger' and the results of the mental and emotional abuse from living with the family but dismissed it because, 'alpha males' like him usually weather such trials better; and the fact that his lover went to jail for murder and did well under the circumstances led me to be a bit disappointed. The setting and rationale for the suicide I get, but I still felt that he was clearly sane enough to put his affairs in order, and to me there did not seem to be the level of depression to logically progress to suicide. But all in all I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was very well done; but as was alluded to in your piece it may be considered a bit too esoteric for those who prefer more common fare :)) I loved it!

I've completed Golden Empire..whew! What an intense drama! I had to stop several times to come up for a breather but could not bear to abandon it LOL. I wanted to ask your view of the ending...I found it an odd ending because the act did not seem consistent with Tae Joo's character. It didn't seem as if he went crazy because he put all of his affairs in order, and I can't accept he was soo depressed that he chose that way out...it just seemed rather odd. Mind you I expected a sad ending from the moment the murder of the Senator took place and he had Yoon Seol take the rap, however given the personality I did not expect the 'tiger' to abandon ship :))

I'm wishing you the best with regard to the feasibility report on the film industry in Jamaica; hopefully the Minister for Culture is able to be receptive to it, and can push for support. They need to look at new sectors or non-traditional sectors; one time ago tourism was not considered a 'real' or legitimate sustainable economic sector, and now look most of the world is doing it as a significant sector of their economies.

Girl I know what you mean by comparatively young...there are too many old men either at the helm or right behind the helm in some of these Caribbean countries (mine included). I am at episode 24 and yes I am enjoying it. However it is difficult to dramathon it because of the intensity. I personally would have liked more mellow or less tension filled scenes, perhaps a bit more background scene for some of the major 'bitter' players to reduce the continuous tension. There is a rather sweet, poignant romance which is not centre stage in this drama which I think you will appreciate. I'm really disliking the character of Choi Seo Yoon amongst the many there are to dislike LOL.

LOL You are correct and I could not agree with you more. Jamaica is in a different position as they have much more revenue streams and taxes (we don't even have sales tax). It's a shame they are not able to look past their nose. It is such a beautiful country with so much potential. As you said they lack vision, and trust me they are not the only ones. eg. Even with Pirates coming here these people did not maximize the opportunity! Apologies that I'm responding so late but the electricity was off for about 6 hrs today? LOL Yes...we still have power cuts :)) Are you still working through CYHMH? XD

I understand your frustration. Bahamas is a low tax country, therefore Gov't relies mainly on customs duty, fees, licenses & permits. They're therefore not open to give tax relief or concessions easily if it doesn't make economic sense in the immediate term, and they are not willing to look long term due to financial constraints in these economic times (more is the pity!). They would look at the economic impact of film produced in The Bahamas, and weigh that against the revenue they would loose through the concessions and tax relief. eg. what would be the revenue generated from a few days/couple weeks filming from hotel accommod., meals, transportation etc. compared to the 25 - 35% duty on industry equipment, tax relief for salaries etc.
I think they should give serious thought to invest & grow the sector, as it has long term super branding benefits & big film investment potential.

I agree, he was the perfect Scofield. On another non drama note. My boss asked me yesterday if I wanted to go Japan. I played it cool but thought in my head 'how many ways can one say yes!'....but very nonchalant I said, well if you're going of course. She said she was not....(hello), any way I calmly and professionally said 'well if you think it's something I need to attend, of course I will go'. When I left the office my face was like :-D. I hope it pans out as there tends to be political interference by others when it comes to trips, which can sometimes stop everything. Wish me luck.
