Hi SecretSoul thank you, and do let me know if you recall the name of the movie. Just completed My PS Partner and had a good LOL...just what I needed :-D I'm venturing into Japanese territory more and more these days and have put what seems to be real gritty ones on my list like God's Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand, Maou and Real, to name a few.

You probably closed your eyes on the naked scenes...and they showed it twice at least. :)

Ha ha putting it that way sounds much more grand than it is :-D Funny thing is I love the freezing cold. I lived in Ottawa on posting on two occasions and I loved winters! Though about migrating to Canada at one point, may still try. Thnx for good wishes and will try to do better with the MDL!

I've been MIA due to work, the fixer upper I'm desperately trying to refurbish (just found roof leaks :-( now have to repair that)!! I am also busy with rehearsals for a dance production being put on by the dance school where I am an alumnae and I assist with teaching dance. We do a production at xmas every other year and the show this year is a tribute to the founder so it's called 'In Retrospect'; one of the numbers is being performed by a couple of alumnae. The show is on 20 & 21 Dec. so lots of practice; also have a small speaking part as one of the former Directors.

Thinking about watching a lmao comedy next. As regards to Caribbean warmth I'm so glad you also thought of me LOL Chile the hurricane season is over and it went well as we got none....yeah...but the cooler temperatures (at least by our standards) are here. Still working on that Beijing assignment Ha ha

HA HA BUSTED! I wondered how long I could keep my absent minded sort of ADD a secret! You are correct about that, most definitely a mix up. But I actually did look up Ishihara Satomi, and have added one or two of her movies to my PTW list. I may have seen Kaneko on someone's PTW list and looked it up. :)

Well hello Mrs LSJ LOL...and may I say congratulations! ^ __^ Well its the weekend so I'm back trying to catch up with MDL chat, and failing badly, so much so that I missed your matrimonial ceremony! It was too funny when I saw Mrs LSJ all over my board and was starting to wonder why...when I saw 'Shelly'. Of course I had to rush over and congratulate! LOL

So while you were busy with that ...I was completing Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari and it was very good. I really really liked it and would recommend watching it. It is sad but still worth the watch because it's a mature movie in that it is a mature portrayal of a slice of life though the romance part is very small, in fact almost non existent. Funny thing is I watched this movie because I wanted to see more of Uneko Aya's work, even though I did not like her character much at first in Rich Man Poor Woman. She was great in Kaneko.

BTW I also completed 'Innocent Love'. It was good and thankfully, it is not a tragedy in the true sense of the word although there are near tragic events that happen during the course of the movie. I did not cry once. Though I enjoyed it there was something missing which I can't put my finger on, and it may be due to the fact that the two main characters were not charismatic enough for me. I felt the two lead actors needed to be a bit more intense in their portrayal; in fact I felt they were upstaged by the other three supporting actors. This is a kind of 'spiritual' movie in that it is about love as well as faith. I think I gave this a 7, because though it was all right it had a lot more potential in my view, story wise and could have been better executed.

Hello SecretSoul, as usual my perpetual apologies for very late replies ^_^ but I hope you continue to forgive :). Yes there is definitely a different flavour with the Japanese movies and I must say I'm becoming a fan despite myself LOL. I've just completed Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari and it was very good. Not the usual fare but a lovely piece. I wrote a short review because there seemed to be only one written to date. It is sad but still well worth the watch and it is based on a real Japanese poet by the name of Kaneko Teru :) Not my usual as I don't usually like to watch sad movies, but when I do watch them I do enjoy a good cry. :) Thank you for the recommendations and I will add one or two to my PTW, and I hope you give Kaneko a try.

Sister when your most northern island is only 50 miles off the southern coast of Florida, and people fly to south Florida on a day trip on a regular basis or just to go shop, or visit the doctor like other people commute, we can't help but adopt similar customs and observe certain holidays. Plus Thanksgiving is a big christian event this country is very religious.

Hi SecretSoul how have you been :-D Sorry I have been MIA but not able to keep up ^^. I see you have been busy with writing some reviews….good stuff :-). I'm on a Japanese streak right now..just finished Rich Man Poor Woman and the special for it 'in New York', and now watching 'Innocent Love' and Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari, both of which seem to be very interesting. I must say I really find the complexities in Japanese dramas quite interesting and the lack of sugar coating although it can be a bit heavy to digest at times, it still is a good break from my beloved KDramas ^_^. I note these two are not on your list so if they turn out well I may recommend to you. Tell me how you are enjoying your latest views and if you would recommend.

OK girl...so, Under the Canopy has been put on hold cos I was so NOT feeling it, and have now picked up Innocent Love which is very intriguing so far (in early eps 2); liking what appears to be complex characters and storyline and hint of mystery in the crime :-D. I also have open to watch Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari and I am also liking that very much but I got to choose one to focus on (hate splitting focus in watching good dramas) :-D

I finished the special and liked it a lot, cos it was more about their relationship and the challenges. You were spot on about Makoto and I also grew to really like and appreciate her. Like he said she became an adult ha ha. I liked her confidence and determination not to 'settle' and to go for what she wanted. I too would have wished for another special! PrettyC you are a sucker for romance like me :-D I'm now starting Under the Canopy of Love. BTW I could not find a website for 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'; where are you watching that at. Happy belated Thanksgiving! We are doing TG Dinner at my Moms today I have to do the macaroni and sweet potatoes (yeah!) :D

PrettyC, how ya doin? XD Managed to patch up cord with electrical tape ha ha. Finished Rich Man Poor Woman XD What can I say? It turned around for me at the end of episode 8 when he went broke, and she stopped allowing herself to be a 'carpet' (quote from the drama)! Mind you as brilliant, crazy and neurotic he was I kind of liked him. But Makoto really fried my nerves, I couldn't identify or connect with her character at first and I couldn't stand her. Then end of ep 8 and from thereon I started to like her and maybe it was because he lost some of his 'hero glow' and she saw him as a 'man' so she was able to be more equal to him in her mind, and behave with more sense ha ha ( I know love makes fools out of us but she was ridiculous)!. Having lamented about all that I'm watching the Special in 'New York' XD. I see you watching 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'....how's it? I like Feng William.

XD You may be sorry you asked LOL I sent you mail in reply :-D. I was forced to take a break from Rich Man b'cos of technical difficulties, but that may have been for the best b'cause I was on episode 5 and wanted to slap Makoto for her hero worship and accepting his crap; and of course I wanted to shoot him when he got nasty which was often. If this continues I highly doubt I'll watch the other spin offs. As regards to the uninspiring name, it is pretty lame, but then I've come to expect 'rip offs' for titles and plain old 'dumb titles' much less uninspiring and lame XD. So what you been up to? This is the first time I've been on line for the day and it's 5:20pm here. I had a full day of attending a negotiation and I'm tired as hell, but as soon as I got back to the office, I was given this power cord I came on line and that was a mere 15 mins ago. Pathetic I know :-D

Watching Rich Man, Poor Woman right now, and I'm finding the female lead Sawaki Chihiro very irritating in her slavish attitude, notwithstanding sometimes she finds the guts to object to his shabby treatment.

He did not demonstrate such 'STYLE' in MARS which was quite enjoyable, and THANK GOD he didn't!! ADDITIONALLY he dropped the caricature in the second half of B&W, as his 'character' was more calm and credible. My opinion :)

Reminds me of Indian Director Deepa Mehta's (Indo-Canadian) work esp. the Elements Trilogy: Fire, Earth and Water. 'Fire' was particularly controversial because it was based on a lesbian relationship (and we know that don't happen there right? :-p ) Water dealt with the stigma and practice of outcasting or demoting the status of women who became widows and the hardship of their lives without community support. One of the protagonists is a '9 year old' girl whose husband was some 70 year old man (eek) *shuddering*. Earth is about the historical partitioning of the India and Pakistan where many of the muslums were on the Pakistan side; there's a forbidden love story as part of the storyline between a Hindu woman and Pakistani guy in the middle of the political chaos. I did say I was also a fan of Bollywood and indian films, no? :-D Yes mam I am!

Yes, I am familiar about him; I had looked up 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring' and 3-Iron. He's one to go outside of the box so to speak. I will probably watch it because of him as well I have 3-Iron on my ptw list. I do like to watch stuff that challenge my conceptions of what is art in film or what is a drama etc., stuff that will push the envelope. Not all of it I like but it does provoke some thinking :)

PrettyC, Birdcage Inn looks interesting from the little that is given in the synop. How's it going? I'm thinking of adding to my ptw list.

LOL I probably vented the same way when I watched it cos I can't stand when the men allow the manipulative witches to play them like a cello! But for some reason I don't recall being upset with Eun Suh LOL I remembered I really didn't like Tae Suk, he just came off to me as being a player and far too smug and arrogant LOL!
