XD Mrs LSJ hows your work coming along? I'm watching Never Give Up Dodo and it is whacky, hilarious and fun! A LOL raunchy drama, which makes it quite refreshing as it's quite satirical I think.
I also love watching dramas with strong female characters, but I find that even the ones listed are not allowed…
I love strong female characters as well; with regard to the role of Kim Hang Ah, I felt she deliberately played helpless in front of the King because of his stated preference for feminine women and about her insecurities about her lack of femininity in attracting and keeping a man. There are women who are intelligent and strong but who choose to appear less so. BTW I would have added the Princess Lee Sey Ryung from The Princess' Man.

Hello MSS, just read part of your Guide to Prince of Lan Ling and really liked it. BTW I really like Feng William so it was a treat to see him in this as well as the other eye candy featured :-D!
MSS and DPMRS, I watched this drama and enjoyed it immensely. I read a part of this article, and will finish reading it but so far I share the sentiments expressed and can see that you both loved the richness, history and theatre of this piece of work. Good job and thank you for paying tribute to Prince of Lan Ling, I'm pleased to see that the enthusiasm I had for this was shared by others. I will be sure to watch the sequel and hope it lives up to the standard set.

I concur with this view and it was mediocre at best.

Thank you for the link. Funny that, I too had wondered if Shi Hyun had a fake death and was living elsewhere under an assumed identity. I prefer this ending and a pity it was not used. :-)

I hated the ending! As I told another MDL friend, I gave it a 7 rating because: it looked good, and the most talented Jung Kyung Ho's acting was simply brilliant, the acting on the whole was good, lots of action, liked the music and the dark theme.
BUT I was so disappointed because it was full of 'BS' (excuse my language), that tells you how annoyed I am with this drama. I sure would like to see the alternative ending and hope it somewhat redeems this for me. This drama had so much potential but the script writers screwed it up with obfuscation and counter intuitive actions and behaviour, multiple personalities ...I have never seen so many 360 degree turns in charcters' attitudes as I saw in this. Notwithstanding the good points, the narrative was poor and at times almost seemed random in structure. I'm so disappointed because though it was enjoyable enough, it could have been so much better if they had taken the time to think some of the scenes through.

Finally finished Cruel City and rated it 7. I think I will watch 'Never Give Up Dodo, which is said to be real funny, and I need a picker upper after that disappointment :( I'm so irritated right now I could scream and that has been since episode 13 Ha ha..

Hi Genger, first off I apologize for being such a slacker participant and MDL Friend :-D but I do follow some of the commentary from time to time. Also thanks for your support. How's exams going? I also note you are giving Empress Ki a good shot ....I have that on my PTW list but a bit daunted by the 50 eps. As you know I'm currently on Cruel City, and while I absolutely love the character of Doctor's Son, and also like Soo Min and a few others very much, I'm kind of struggling with it a bit. The storyline is interesting but overall for me the narrative gets crazy and at times illogical, so as at ep. 13/14 I started getting frustrated. I'm almost done though...:-D Just trying to do better for 2014 ha ha

I will say they this, they do manage to inject sufficient suspense and twists to keep me watching..perhaps that's why logic and coherence were expendable? :-) I have a bad feeling about the ending but we shall see.

Hi MLSJ ! So I've reached ep. 13 of Cruel and while I am enjoying the drama 'somewhat' I've begun to get irritated at parts, and believe it or not a tiny bit bored. I can totally understand why you have criticized the script...at times it's incoherent and the logic is off. I mean come on, how many under covers ops can you have chasing their tails and no one seems to think it important that they are protected instead of running around chasing one another? That started to become tiresome :-( *sigh*. But having said that, despite these flaws it is enjoyable enuff. There are a number of characters I really like in particular Doc and Soo Min; my rating started off at 8 but it's now at a 7. I hope it goes back up.

I responded to you on Ru Yi, but don't see it on your board so I'll post it again. It's been a while since I watched Ru Yi. I started liking it then towards the middle (it is some 42 eps) it became somewhat stale and the main female lead started getting on my nerves, so I started skipping to peak at the ending. I didn't particularly like the end so I've put it on hold. While the end is not tragic it is not what I would have liked. Hopefully I'll pick it back up and rewatch some parts before I left off and complete it.

XD you're right about having similar views on shows, and that's why I often take your advice as to what will appeal, esp. as we both love a good romance. That is why I said despite Ms. Won you should like Kings 2; I will say in the beginning I was questioning her acting, and then as it went along I realized she was playing a bit of a role within a role, almost satirical so then I was able to appreciate her more in the part she played.

Glad you're enjoying Nine Times, I have that on my PTW list. I'm also trying to watch a Chinese drama Xuan Yuan Sword 3 Legend Rift of the Sky, we'll see how that goes as you know I don't like to split my focus on marathons.

I also find the other characters interesting it's just that Doctor's Son stands out; but of course I find Jung Kyung Ho a very versatile and very good actor, especially when I compare his role in 'Smile You' to this role he is portraying in Cruel City.

Mrs LSJ :-D so far the story seems to be interesting and I'm really liking the character of Doctor's Son. What I'm having a bit of a problem with however is what seems to be poor editing or either scripting I'm not sure which. As I watch it there seems to be shifts to characters and scenes without what I think are smooth transitions so it comes off a bit choppy or fragmented and so you're a bit struggling to catch on. Maybe it's too early for me to say this....so I guess while I'm liking the concepts and character I'm having a bit of a problem with the flow. Does that make sense?

Still haven't found the link for Chrysalis yet, and even though I believe it was You Tube, I can't find it on there but for the trailer. Will keep checking.
