I think Because this is my first life is my fave of the year... then maybe Goblin... wait was that this year???…
I count Goblin as 16 since it started then, also it's been through 17 awards so. I hope the great writing and excellent production quality of btimfl becomes trend this year. I'd love to see that sort of consistent quality in a fantasy/supernatural romance. Hope 2018 has some epic shows.
Have you tried Hit The Top? I really love BTIMFL and Hit The Top for this year's drama
I tried really hard to like it but just like Go Back Couple but couldn't really get into it. I might be just burned out on the time travel to change future life/past life tropes. I prefer ancient history type of time travel to modern world.
I'm more petty bwa ha ha! I think my new years resolution will have to be let it go because I'm still fuming over the bride of Habaek! I only had three kdamas I really enjoyed this year Circle, My only love song and because this is my first life. Nothing stood out as epic to me. I think I spent more time catching up on my watch list this year than anything. I'm seriously debating if I should wait to start hwayugi until 2018. I'm really hoping for some great epic fantasy, supernatural and rom-com next year. This year was a lot of dark, heavy and slice of life which isn't my forte.
I really didn't like this version. I tried but after this installment ugh. I adore the itazura Na Kiss storyline but this was not good. I honestly think this is my least favorite version yet, including the very loosely based ones. Honestly, in this installment the only part I liked was at the wedding alter Naoki's reaction after she kissed him. I really hope this is the last part of this movie adaptation.
Yeah, I agree. I hope it doesn't spend too much time on the office politics, and I hope it doesn't get too dreary…
I agree with evil robot ugh! The other part that concerns me is after he finds out she has been lying all this time especially since she is now trying to get near him on purpose to get the contest back on and after what he said about his own room. How cruel a reveal that will be if she keeps pretending after her spills his guts and trusts in her. I was hoping when they first disclosed the allergy that she was either biologically special or that they would have had an unrealized history that made her emotionally/mentally special so he never had a reaction. But they showed him react the first time which bummed me out. Because when he does find out she is not a robot it would be nice if there was something more fate like tying them together. Instead of him falling for someone who just happened to be close to him, helping him and eventually forgives everything, differences and all because it's "love"! Like every other forced cohabitation drama I guess haha! Okay I'm nitpicking too soon maybe. There could be a super awesome twist they are setting up for. I hope it's not evil robot though bwa ha ha!
If I were to do an updated remake of 80's movies for Japanese audience here is my improbable Top 10:
Ladyhawke The Money Pit Back To The Future Gremlins Ferris Beuller's Day Off The Last Starfighter Overboard Stand By Me Real Genius The Goonies
Honestly, I'm not saying they should ever be remade but I think the story and characters could be updated and stories tweaked to be entertaining and successful in Japan :)
I hope this doesn't turn into an everything but the kitchen sink storyline drama! I really like the lead characters set up and the r&d group but adding all these "bad guys" already makes me cringe. I was ok with the CEO/rival thing but then add his friends/rival's dad, a foreign bad guy, henchmen, some female rival and even her brother conflict with both of them (which is weirdly absurd right now tba) That's a lot of external conflict for a light and fluffy Rom-com. Fingers crossed there is some plot consolidation soon and they don't keep adding to it and detracting from the leads story.
Maybe because of my age but I honestly never found the whole rape in romance storyline that shocking. I've been reading romance novels for years and even more modern ones have the hero abduct, force marriage or rape. But they always add that internal dialogue where the woman was attracted but resistant because of propriety/innocence but gives in. In that aspect they are similar to a live action paperback romance.
As for the " fake" kisses it's not that big a deal either. If you watch any pre-2005 Korean Dramas there was a lot of those kinds of kisses. That's when the passionate embrace, hand grabbing, and back hugs were everything :'D And I always enjoyed that aloof intimacy because it reminded me of early Hollywood. When the leads would just hug, hold their faces together, or the turned back and dip kiss. I always felt like it was more romantic to leave it to the imagination. I enjoy a good kiss scene but the more you have the further you push it and end up like American dramas where sex isn't a big deal let alone kissing. No swoon worthy heart flutter that way!
As for length Taiwanese/Chinese dramas have been lengthy and that was one thing I liked about them. Also if you edit out the extremely long credits and transitional scenes it's not too different than a regular Kdrama/jdrama length. Plus Like Taiwanese dramas a lot of times the actors have more natural sounding conversation and exterior scenes. Instead of everything being scripted and each word/scene having a specific purpose there are interactions that seem completely impromptu which gives the story character imho. If you edit out unnecessary scenes and dialogue they are even shorter. I myself like the unexpected sprinkles of flavor.
I agree about the crazy evil nang'rai but ha ha if that isn't a guilty pleasure for me too! When I've had a particular crazy week or finished an insanely repressive drama, a good Lakorn or Telenovela filled with hair pulling crazy revenge fueled catfight can be very therapeutic. The more insanely ridiculous she is the better it feels when she gets it back to her ha ha!
Lakorn is all about lapse of logic and frustration but they are entertaining. Can they be disturbing morally/culturally? YES! But imho it's nothing compared to the trash that is common in a lot of American TV. :)
Ahhh! I have such a love/hate relationship with the original Meteor Garden. I actually really love the first part so much it's one of my favorite interps but because I really disliked Meteor Garden II so I rarely want to rewatch it. So I'm praying they ditch that part II concept and do something fresh and complete.
I never get tired of remakes because it's interesting to see how they are adapted. Even if you're pretty sure you know what is going to happen it's fun to see how it plays out and if there are any unexpected twists. As long as they stay true to the original theme and have some version of the core story moments I'm always game!
The main reason I liked season two was Uehara's growth. At the beginning of S2 I was annoyed because he was back…
I saw all that too and agree. I guess what I meant was at the end instead of Nao sayingshe never waiver they insisted until the end that it wasn't anything when those little things felt significant and honest. I felt like they were going to go that route but just kind of glossed over it at the end. I don't ever doubt she loved anyone as much as Uehara. I just think it makes her love for him feel more sincere instead of a borderline unhealthy fixation most of these dramas portray.
I'm hoping this season was to tie up the loose ends of S1 regarding their immature insecurities so they can deal with the adult life events from Good morning kiss. I think it needed to be established that they really are committed to each other. Engagement/Marriage subject was a big part of GMK manga if I remember right along with future career decisions etc. So I hope this season was a setup for those sort of events that have their own sets of challenges that can even be a struggle for the most devoted couples. :)
I watched this twice in the span of the last two months. From my perspective, this is how I felt each time.First…
The main reason I liked season two was Uehara's growth. At the beginning of S2 I was annoyed because he was back to being such a jerk but they did a really good job showing his vulnerabilities and the facade he puts up because of them. It made him very adorable and much more understandable. I honestly wish they would have had Nao actually waiver a little bit more between Natsume after he kissed her. I honestly liked the idea that she actually did feel something to feel guilty about but not enough for her to want to give up Uehara. She just has been so obsessed with him if they made her waiver emotionally towards Natsume instead of just denial it would have felt more adult like and sincere when she devotes herself to him in the end. I really hope for a season 3.
Season 2 wasn't anything like I expected so I'm hoping sincerely for S3. Now they have developed the characters more and finally gotten over those childish insecurities left over from S1 it would be great to see them start out dealing with the life-changing decisions. Living together again and that readjustment, getting engaged/married and the stress that comes with that, future career goals (or lack of), and if they will stay there of leave for more/better opportunities. The biggest thing is can they achieve these goals together or are they going to have to be apart. So I'm really hoping for S3 :)
It is still a popular rumor. Just a couple of months ago, Aom posted on Instagram a pic of her and Mike with the…
I saw that :) I still have hope I just know after the two year mark unless shows get confirmed or are filming they don't often get picked up. (at least with original cast) Of course there are exceptions but it doesn't happen often. Fingers crossed though.
At this point it probably won't happen but still hoping for Season 2 of Thai drama Kiss Me. Everyone says it is because Mike and Aom are busy but idk. I'd rather see him do KM sequel instead of taking over lead in the My Amazing Boyfriend sequel.
I'm sorry for being negative, but did Nao become more annoying or did my tolerance for her personality drop? I…
It gets better imho after the first episodes. I don't know if they were intentionally over exaggerating their characters personalities but after it's reestablished what they are like they tone it down a lot pretty fast.
I'm a ghost because this show officially wants me dead! I mean if waiting a week for them to kiss was torture enough something like this I'll probably die of frustration! But seriously when she wouldn't stop kissing that was the greatest kiss scene ever!
I figured that the Ex was going to work with her on writing yesterday, and they'd probably meet without Sae Hee knowing. I hope the rest isn't as predictable because those were my least favorite part so far. It just seems unnecessarily cruel when there is enough hurdles created by their own personalities. I hope they pull the bandaid off this storyline fast and get back to the list of firsts!
The people who write and edit for this show must be illusionist on the side because they are masters at misdirection! At this point I don't trust anything I see in this show at face value. Everything is done so subtle and precise anything could be an important clue or just benign commentary! I seriously freaking love that! The only truth I know was how satisfying that kissing scene was!
The other part that concerns me is after he finds out she has been lying all this time especially since she is now trying to get near him on purpose to get the contest back on and after what he said about his own room.
