Unless the actor is a veteran and can’t be put on support (to respect them; learned that China does this to accomplished actors/veterans), the cast guest cast means exactly that, the character won’t be in the show until the end or will appear now and then.

The purist cabal? You mean people who simply disagree with you. That is not a cabal. That is an audience with standards. They said they had no problem with sex scenes if they were relevant to the plot and artfully done. That was a condition, not a promise to approve of every explicit scene you happen to like. You do not get to decide for them that the scenes met that standard. If they believe the scenes were gratuitous, badly written, historically absurd or only there to shock for commercial reasons and otherwise, they are allowed to say so. That is not hypocrisy. That is consistency.

And if ignoring is the correct response to content you dislike, why are you not ignoring them? You tell them to ignore a drama they dislike while you cannot ignore an opinion you dislike. You demand tolerance for your taste but not for their criticism. That is the real hypocrisy.

Also, not every negative review is review bombing. Sometimes people simply think the show is bad. You can call it excuses, but disagreement is not an excuse.

Likewise, artful does not mean explicit. Nudity is not a shortcut to depth. A historical drama has a duty to its own time and setting. If a scene needs explicit sex and nudity to be beautiful, then it was never artful to begin with.

So take your own advice. If you dislike criticism, ignore it. You had the option. You still do.

I think the most idiotic comments come from those who, when we call out trashy Korean dramas filled with porn and nudity, keep dragging movies into the conversation.

Are you imbeciles? Why would an audience that is used to explicit movies be here making noise and rebuking this nonsense? That makes no sense.

If you are so accustomed to explicit content in films, you should be the last person to object when someone criticises explicit content in dramas. You should just silently feed your appetite.

Instead, you rush to defend the very thing you claim is normal. If it was, would it need defending? You are not defending freedom of expression. You are defending your own taste. You are not defending storytelling. You are defending the removal of storytelling. You are not defending art. You are defending excess.

Movies having explicit scenes does not justify dramas doing the same. It does not make it good. It does not make it necessary. It does not make it historical. It only proves that the problem is widespread. If movies are full of porn and nudity, that is not a shield. It is another symptom. So do not use movies as an excuse. Do not use them as a distraction. Do not use them as a pathetic attempt to silence criticism. The issue is not whether explicit content exists elsewhere. The issue is whether it belongs in Korean dramas and historical stories. If you cannot answer that, then you have no argument. You have only noise. And you are proving exactly why your opinion should not be taken seriously.

You could have enjoyed your porn and trashy drama in peace. Instead, you escalated it. Now you think you can silence me because I disagree with trashy stories and explicit sex.

My disagreement with the decline of Korean dramas and the recent flood of trashy stories filled with porn was never an attack on you, and it is not something you get to punish. I am allowed to criticise content I find cheap, degrading or harmful. You do not get to demand tolerance for your tastes while trying to shut down mine. I will not be silenced just to make you comfortable.

International audiences largely watched Korean dramas because they were tired of American and Western stories that sell sex and have no substance. Some were tired of forced immoral behaviours and values being normalised in dramas in order to influence people. It is only right that we rebuke this when we feel it is wrong. Of course, that does not mean there is no market for it, including people like you who love porn and trashy stories. What is worse is that they degrade historical storytelling in this way. We all know that in ancient times even kissing in public was taboo. Now they show us people having explicit sex and being nude in a historical drama. For what? I do not need to watch Japanese dramas to get people to agree with me.
