“ Based on reports from March 2026, Chinese actor Zhang Linghe faced backlash from international audiences, particularly fans from Southeast Asia (SEA), regarding comments made during an appearance on the variety show Hello Saturday. Here are the details regarding the incident: The Comment: During a drawing segment on Hello Saturday, where co-star Tian Xiwei produced a drawing of him, Zhang Linghe made a remark indicating he felt he looked like he was "born in Southeast Asia," which was interpreted by many as relying on negative stereotypes about the region. Backlash: The comment, which some labeled as casually racist and others deemed insensitive, caused significant, immediate backlash, particularly from Vietnamese fans who flooded his social media, resulting in calls for an apology. Apology: Reports indicate that Zhang Linghe addressed the situation by posting an apology in his comment section. Response to Apology: The apology received mixed reactions. Some viewers felt the approach was insincere because it was not a standalone post, while others in the, at times, polarized online discussion argued that the comment was meant as a joke or that the reaction was too sensitive. ”
As a SEA, can you please help understand how that remark is viewed as racism?
Thanks. I wonder?

I’ve also never seen a show with so many teasers, it’s insane.

This makes sense, as I’ve been saying that nothing reflects this current 9.1 so far, and it isn’t a true reflection.
I feel bad for the actors as this might dampen their hard work because of greed.
This show didn’t need excessive aiding to push the ratings.
The director and Zang ling He were enough to make it a success.
They even used a honey trap of many close ups on the handsome MLs.
They will learn that the real audience isn’t stupidity. And this show needs to succeed more in China than internationally.
I love both leads, the drama is good and you can start watching it or wait for more episodes. The rating is not…
Anyway, with that being said, you should trust MDL ratings. There are dramas I found to be master pieces like The Rise of the Phoenixes and The Rebel Princess but never got that much high rating here, and these are unforgettable.
Objectively, how good is this drama? I haven't started watching yet, but the rating is so high I'm really considering…
I love both leads, the drama is good and you can start watching it or wait for more episodes. The rating is not a true reflection of how great it is so far, as the plot is not yet fully developed that we know the purpose of the story and each character trait.
Something to note, is that this drama is the first to be featured in many networks at once and in sync, so I guess that might be the reason or it might the novel readers who are rating more or it’s what other say that’s it’s rigged or there’s glitch.
With that being said. This director’s dramas turned to be above 8 after finishing. And have highly rated them too, but only after understanding the story and how it’s portrayed.
I do feel this high rating so far, isn’t a true reflection of what we have seen to date, besides people who just rate based on their fantasies of how it is or could be.

Are they not the same race?
Please excuse my ignorance if my question is.

That’s just my opinion. I hope I made sense.
