It was creepy, but based on Part 2, maybe she liked him (or his energy) all along. Not everything in Part 2 is Naksu. He was confused by the soul that wanted to protect him too. Naksu did not protect - she pushed him to be his best self mage wise. Her morals were a bit shady, though.

Actually, from what Master Lee said, it is Bu-Yeons body with the face of Naksu. That’s why Kid BY said she will be reclaiming her body, and is sorry Naksu regained her memories too soon. She regretted the pain Naksu will suffer before she loses consciousness.

There were multiple ice stones, created from the hail. Ice stones were formed when the hail cycled through the different forms of energy, ice, char, etc. The reason for the chaos and mage wars, is that everybody was using them. There was a scene showing this fight, which I was waiting to see recreated. That’s why all ice stones were supposed to be destroyed: to eliminate temptation. Good mages won, which I assume why the great houses were formed, to protect the peace. Sorcery was abolished as “bad” because it had been used for evil purposes.
