Another great review :) I was also disappointed in the romance not really developing until the end. I also wondered why Akari and Takizawa couldn't compromise, thought I'm glad she stayed with her chosen profession.
Ahh thanks, Macy! ♡ yes, that's right! and it's thanks to you because you spoiled me, allowing me to enjoy watching…
I’m happy you enjoyed it so much :)
Yeah, I ended up lowering my rating for Okaeri Mone because I disliked the sister so much. If she weren’t there, I probably would’ve given it a ten lol
Hi to future watchers! After chatting with huneybomb and reading her review, I’ve come to the conclusion that this asadora is better if you know who she ends up with from the start. I’ll include his name under a spoiler below. Please read my and huneybomb’s reviews if you want further spoilers.
Great review :) I agree with all the good points. I think I would’ve enjoyed them more if I hadn’t been dwelling so much on the romance aspect. Someday, I may rewatch to see if I can enjoy it more. Everyone should definitely be spoiled on who she ends up with. It’s the best way to enjoy this asadora apparently haha.
I also disliked the sister in Okaeri Mone lol. I thought Asuka was going to be like her [or worse, the lead’s cousin in 1999 asadora Asuka] so I put it on hold for two months. I was so grateful when she turned out to be the opposite!
It’s hard to believe that it has the same writer as Asa ga Kita. Not that this asadora is bad, but it’s so ordinary… I’ll see how I feel after I finish it, but I already have a few complaints lol
I made some updates to this list. After reading some comments on DO, I decided to remove Genius Subs from Omusubi. I personally don't support machine translated subs, but y'all are welcome to seek them out, I just won't provide the link. After watching so many asadoras with beautiful and thoughtful subtitling work, I could never support machine translated subs. They seem to have dropped the project anyway...
I also decided to change Fight's and Chimudondon's subtitle status to "on hold." I don't believe either fansubber has officially dropped their respective project yet, but since neither has been updated in 6 months to a year or more, I decided on the label "on hold." I will change to dropped or in progress if there is an update.
as always, great list Macy!♡ do you have any Asadora recommendations that can help me move on from Sakura? but…
I think Dondo Hare has a similar vibe to Sakura, but I didn’t like the last twenty or so episodes though the ending was good. Hitomi is lighthearted but it’s kinda boring. So it seems Sakura is unique among asadoras for being lighthearted and not boring!
Based on other asadora you’ve like I’d recommend Beppin-san and Massan. Massan has a bit of a sad ending, but I think it’s worth it. Beppin-san is mostly set post-war so there’s not as many sad parts.
It's almost a year since I finished this asadora and I still can't believe I completed it! Despite the stressful parts, this is really an amazing journey to witness.
A year on from watching this asadora, I still think it was a nice slice-of-life watch. I haven't gotten to the point of wishing to rewatch it [so my 'rewatch value' in my review is a little off, but I won't change it lol.], but I'd still recommend it for those who like a slower pace.
A whole year since I discovered my obsession with asadoras. Hanako to Anne will always be my favorite for that reason :) I will definitely rewatch this gem someday!
It's been a whole year since I've watched this asadora, and while the ending is very sad, I still think it's a very beautiful asadora. I will definitely rewatch it someday.
Thinking about this asadora again a year later. While I still think the plot was very messy at some parts, it was still a very fun asadora and Nagano Mei was a solid heroine. I can picture myself rewatching it again someday, though I'd skip some parts of course.
You can watch it on kissasian or dramacool, but I dislike ads so I downloaded the torrent on nyaa.si
To download a torrent, you first need to download torrent software. I use qbittorrent and haven’t had any issues. Then click on the torrent file and it should open in the software. It might take some time to download, depending on how many people are seeding (basically sharing).
Google anything else you don’t understand. Also, look into vlc media player so you’ll be able to watch the series with subs.
I'm thinking about rewatching this drama. This was the only K-drama that I really liked for the past two years. All the others I've watched have disappointed me in the end lol.

Edit: Review is posted with all my complaints. I tried to be fair since there were some things that I liked, but it's still pretty bad...
