I do wish we could see a slight romance trope in male-centric dramas. I definitely donāt mind it if itās done well... just look at Legend of the Condor Heroes. Huang Rongās character was both lovable and important, and the same goes for many other classic wuxia dramas.
But with Tang Feng, her character is really annoying. Youāre saying her injuring him is just a classic trope and shouldnāt be hated, but I think it comes down to how the character is written. In female-centric or romance dramas, thereās often this pattern of people hating the male lead just because heās cold and arrogant. In the end, itās all about the way the characters are crafted.

Out of the dramas you mentioned, Iāve only watched Blood of Youth. To be honest, the romance in that drama felt pretty unnecessary.... it didnāt really add anything to the story. But ,I didnāt hate it either.
I find it quite unsettling that, whenever I check the comment sections of male-centric dramas, many viewers mostly…
No one is really shipping Qiu Shui with any of the other male leads. As for Tang Feng, her personality was pretty unlikeable at first, especially with the way her character was introduced. She injured Qiu Shui for no reason, just because she lost a bet. But in the recent episodes, weāre starting to see more depth to her character.
I really canāt stand Song Ming Zhu. Itās obvious Liu Sui Feng has no interest in her.... heās rejected her multiple times, even with a disgusted look on his face. Yet she keeps creeping around, desperately trying to win his favor like a total simp. I have a feeling she might end up harming Tang Feng.
As for Tang Feng, Iām not hating her anymore. I get her personality now.... sheās just hot-tempered. I actually liked the little conversation she had with Qiu Shui, though Iām still not shipping them.
Honestly, no other C-drama Iāve seen has fight choreography like this. The most impressive part is that it truly feels like wuxia. They could have easily relied more on internal energy battles, but they didnāt ... instead, thereās real wire work, and it looks amazing. Cheng Yi is performing exceptionally well in this. I actually thought heād be playing a more mischievous role, but this drama is quite serious.... even more so than MLC. It almost feels like watching Li Xiangyi again...
Am I the only one who doesn't even think about the budget being low like...???? I honestly love how it looks,…
I really, really like the beautiful sceneries in this drama. It doesnāt feel low-budget to me at all everything looks gorgeous and well put together. Honestly, thereās so much beauty in every frame, I canāt see what people are even complaining about.
Arenāt you all tired of watching romance dramas? Seriously, how many romcoms have been released this year? Every other drama is the same recycled romance! And yet people keep asking, āIs there romance?ā Whatās worse is that some of you are bashing this drama without even finishing the first episode! Have you ever even watched a proper wuxia drama? Since when do you get the entire story handed to you in the first six episodes? Wuxia takes time to build the relationships, the world, the conflicts. If you donāt have the patience for just six episodes, then maybe this genre isnāt for you.
The pacing here is actually perfect. Ming Ming is adapting to the world heās been thrown into, and that takes time, his childlike personality, his pure heart, the way he carries himself itās beautiful to watch. Seeing Cheng Yi portray such a side is a complete surprise for me...
So , just drop the drama if youāre not interested. Nobodyās forcing you.
Guys, i admit I was jelaous that other dramas are being aired instead of my most anticipated wuxia drama. But…
Same here! Whenever other dramas announced their airing dates, I was just like, āOkay⦠but when is it time for FSH?ā š I was really so sad that I even stopped watching the other dramas on my plan to watch list. This is actually the first time his drama is getting proper promotion š..
Finallyyy itās here!!! ššš Honestly, I donāt care about the story, the production, or whatever people are calling hype. Iāve been waiting for this since the day they announced Cheng Yi as the lead, and this has been the most anticipated drama of my year only because itās CY! The buzz exists because itās CY, and even around 60 brands are sponsoring it because of him. I just hope everyone watches it without expecting some āgroundbreakingā stuff, just let CY surprise us and enjoy his amazing acting.
i remember my first encounter with QiQi in love and redemption. in the very beginning of 1st episode i thought…
Just like you, I was first drawn to him because of his performance, then completely charmed by his off-screen personality through his interviews and Hi6. Heās such an incredible actor. When I first watched L&R, I was impressed by how effortlessly he portrayed pain in so many scenes. I loved everything about that drama and his performance in it.
But it was MLC that truly showcased his full acting range. Every scene felt like a gem, and there wasnāt even the slightest trace of his previous roles it was like watching a completely different person. Thatās when I officially became his fan ššš. and now, well, Iām totally obsessed šššš
It would be fun to watch Cheng Yi in light hearted dramas . Would he ever work in dramas like The Romance of Tiger…
Every other newcomer seems to be doing the same kind of dramas these days. Personally, Iām just really glad that Cheng Yi has moved past the idol actor phase and is now being recognized as a more serious actor.
Honestly, how many male-centric dramas are we even getting these days? š So few.
Iād also love to see Cheng Yi in a comedic role. But definitely not in a romance.... Iāve had more than enough of that genre already. If I ever feel like watching him in one, I can always go back to L&R or IS.
Even though thatās how I feel... š Iāll still end up watching whatever Cheng Yi acts in, no matter the genre. I donāt really mind.... if itās him, Iām in!
Since when is making a woman smart in a drama feminism? That's just how her character is, she was taught these…
Iām not trying to compare male and female characters in ancient settings.... anyone, regardless of gender, can be skilled and intelligent at a young age. Thatās not the issue.
What bothers me is how these female leads are always portrayed as 100% flawless. It just feels very unrealistic.
If youāve seen Long Ballad, thatās a great example of how it should be done. Itās clearly a female-centric drama, and the FL is shown as a capable, military-trained woman with impressive skills. But at the same time, she makes plenty of poor decisions, and her actions have consequences. You can actually see her grow as the story progresses , and that growth comes from experience, not just talent.
Being skilled is one thing, but being experienced is something else entirely.

It's not really about feminism.... the issue lies in how female leads are written. In almost every historical drama these days, the FL is portrayed as a 16 or 17-year-old who somehow manages to solve complicated cases and handles complex political power plays like she has decades of life experience.
And itās not just a one-offāit feels like every new drama is following the same formula. The FL is always flawless, bold, emotionally detached, yet somehow an expert at everything. Meanwhile, the ML just ends up becoming her shadow, with little to no character depth of his own.
