Maybe you need to subscribe to some sort of fundamentalist network and watch dramas there? If grown up, free people…
You are rude, and lacking basic skills of civil communication. Apparently your 'high morals' apply only to what is below the waist. You are welcome to stick your repressed, totalitarian trolling of 13 century views there too. Bye.

I agree. They should have condensed it at 12 episodes. But it's a Netflix's drama. Even the kid acting like American's…
It is not Netflix drama. It is JTBC.

I just wish S. Korea could kick out netflix out of their country. They are sneaking their "sex liberation" sickness…
Maybe you need to subscribe to some sort of fundamentalist network and watch dramas there? If grown up, free people having sex off camera in a drama make you sick there is help available.

it's because the asian entertainment industry relies heavily on the parasocial aspect of the relationship with…
No. Toxic and wrong is getting pleasure at the expense of somebody else's misery. That is not asian or western. It is universally human. Depriving young people of their right to have normal personal relationships in order to provide hordes of 'fans" with someone to fantasise about is prurient. It is a from of virtual emotional and sexual slavery where agencies act as pimps and 'fans" as paying customers. And if you think fans should have the right to decide how someone else live their life for their (fans) gratification ... there is a name for people like that.

@GayinYourArea: Translation of your translation: 'non westerners having been made to see how they look in the eyes of other cultures decided maybe it is time to reflect on their culture
in a new way. As to the "self-entitled westerners" the difference is that 'westerners' mostly don't give a damn if some don't like something about their western culture because everybody is entitled to their opinions . But "non-westerner" go nuts when someone doesn't adore, respect and bow to their cultural morays, as if westerners put a gun to their heads, or by having an opinion desecrate some sort of sacred "non-western" ground..

They didn’t need to make him such a complete useless idiot . I mean it is kinda funny, but mostly it is ridiculous.

Hwa Ran is despicable in many ways but ngl I felt for her during the flashback of her youth when it seemed like…
It would be understandable in a 10 year old. But she is a grown woman, and there is nothing to understand except that she chose to nurture her resentment and turn into a vicious, lonely, bitch.
Lily Alice Jul 27, 2023
This is ridiculous. Everybody and their brother are looking for something to be aggrieved by. Everybody and their brother claim the right to be represented as some paragons of their local virtues. Apparently the only people everybody feel free to represent as god knows what are Americans, because you would never hear this sort of nonsense from them. What a load of crap!

I don't think so. Sometimes I replay the scene of the FL cz I feel her voice and face are too cute to pass up…
It is a cultural thing. For many in the Western such full on Asian shtick of playing an "adorable" , so very-very innocent 3 year old, with all that mouth puckering, pouting, looking like a kicked puppy is a major turn off. But apparently Asian audiences find it sweet.

Why do so many romcoms depict FL as complete idiots? In the very 1 ep, she has her shoe heel stuck in a crack in the pavement and is pleading for HELP! from everybody. Is this a life or death? Is her foot glued to the shoe? Can't she take the shoe off and work at getting it unstuck with 2 hands or break the heel off? Instead, this celebrated athlete is crouching on the pavement looking like a complete ditz , and it takes a 15 century magical badass warrior to "save" her, because the writers couldn't find a better way to get the two together. Seriously? She is afraid of ML or pushing him away when she herself made him up for her story and then fished him out of a magic fountain. She is stammering all the time , whining, babbling nonsense, her face has one expression - of a kicked puppy. She tries to hurl rocks at the fairy, hides under her boss's desk, bumps around clutching a box with the dead bird to her chest and blethers .. Everything she does and says is idiotic. When ML claims she has no intelligence he is spot on, but why write FL this way ?
Chen Zhe Yuan is endlessly watchable though, if not for him I would drop it after the 1 ep.

Thank you! I am familiar with the traditional values in Asia and Europe, so it didn't compute that such a brouhaha would be around a 5 year age difference. But if this is intentional to change cultural views I get it.

Could someone explain to me what is this fixation on age in China about? I mean not when she is 14, obviously, but why being 5 years older is even an issue?

It may be not everybody's cup of tea, but I like this drama, its patriotic flag waving and the ideological drum beating aside. What makes it work is smart, attractive characters behaving like normal people do. No saccharine cuteness, not too many old cliches, not much overboard buffoonery. FML is wonderful, clever, playful, feisty, real. ML is gorgeous, brilliant, subtle, and a bit of silent type idiot. Both have sense of humor. There interactions are a joy and fun to watch. There is no suspense, some plot lines are a tad unbelievable but it doesn't matter. The professor is a bit of an arrogant ass, but I guess this is how they in China think academically brilliant people has the right to behave . The chemistry between leads is fantastic, and it makes the drama work beautifully.

Title I Hear You
Why do Chinese dramas produce so many, obnoxious, unbearable, rude, manipulative or intrusive characters, is it supposed to be funny? ML is a jerk. FML's mother is a nauseating harpy . Her best friend ... - with friends like that who needs enemies. And why are these obnoxious "friends" pet her all the time, what is she, a rabbit? The main premise that anyone should be expected to put up with such ungodly crap and pretend love for possibility to win money is repulsive. It would take a majorly better script writing to pull that one off without turning it into trash. LuSi is adorable, but the drama is a waste of time for me. Dropping.
