That makes no sense. And no, this is not how "we've come to know it now." You wish to use a term incorrectly. That is your choice. But "we" will use it the way it is actually intended.

In that case 99% of all love asian dramas would have a love triangle. Which basically makes the term meaningless. But whatever.

That is not what is considered a love triangle. I mean people can use words any which way, but that is not what is intended by the term. Classic love triangle is King Arthur , Sir Lancelot, and Jenevieve, because A and L are very close comrades, and J is in love with the both. Love like Galaxy has a ton of them, but not all insane women obsessed with Ling Bu Yi make a love triangle. But again people use terms any which way. But there is probably not a human alive who hadn't had more than 1 person liking them.

Well, just because someone likes someone doesn't mean it is a love triangle, as long as the object of both affections is not conflicted about it. There can be 10 people in love with the same person, but what matters is whom that person likes.

It is 100% a piece of fluff, but it is so cute and diverting it is fun to watch. FML is adorable, ML is gorgeous and valiant. Villains are treacherous and have eyebrows to prove it ; parents are stern; nobleman obnoxious; thieves are crafty with the hearts of gold ; the story is nonsensical , and all is well in the end. Pure calorie free delight.

No love triangles as such. About feelings - it is fluid. But there are no crazy breakups and separations.

This drama is so lyrical, and emotionally rich and poignant . It is absolutely captivating, though it is very slow paced - they do most scenes 2-3 times.
As an aside it made me appreciate so much more modern Western values in relationships between parents and children. Sure, Western are messy and complicated, but they don't put children in bondage to the despicable, poisonous elders and their 'bloodlines' , and they don't humiliate adopted children and their adoptive parents.

Why are friends neighbors and co-workers in Korean dramas so obsessed with other people relationships and families? They are so intrusive and obnoxious , like dogs sniffing and yapping and howling! Is it true to culture or just a drama trope?

It is fun, but. If slapstick is your thing go for it. If not, you probably are going to roll your eyes 60% of the time , or fast forward.- I did, because it is just cringeworthy. It also has one of the most unbearably cartoonish and obnoxious FML.. The other 40% are where the best of the drama was for me. But it gets extremely dark by the end. I mean extremely.

Wow, that is a helluva lot of physical abuse by bosses. What a culture...
I am enjoying the drama for the acting which is excellent , and some of the intrigue. But to me it is overloaded with speeches on one side, and smugness , cursing, huffing and bullying on the other. Procedurally and legally it defies all norms, practices and logic, and as battles of wits go it is not terribly clever. But it is emotionally satisfying when one wants a dose of righteous indignation :)

Rong Dingkun is a lost cause. 7th Master should have known better. What he did with his crazy nephew and to all the people at that auction is unforgivable.

I am as far from e-sports and shooting games as North Pole from the South one, but I am enjoying this drama. Acting, action, humor, friendships! My one gripe is that people are yelling a lot.

Leo Wu is great , nuanced , sincere, and finally in a different role from an iron superhero. The story of them two is very sweet and poignant, and emotionally real . But the rest of the plot - parents lying and pretending, school being punitive for something that is none of its business, teachers indulging in public shaming..., wow, just wow. The level of aggressive intrusion into others personal life that society considers OK is mind boggling... and the layers and layers of blatant lying and manipulating by the adults, the father hitting his son so badly that he mutilated him was unbearable to watch.

I like Consort Yue. But there is no such thing as 'perfect personality" . No one is better than others for everyone. I think ML says it all when he proposes. Humans are not cookie cut. We differ in how we love and what we need - and that what makes the world interesting. You for instance like FL in The Long Ballad - I couldn't stand her. It doesn't make me right or you wrong, but it doesn't make you right either. And btw good wife and good mother is not personality. It is a social function - a job. Also you seem to think that a woman's job is to FIT man's foibles and tastes. That is not love in my book, that's slavery.

OMG. Thank you for this inf. IMO that is just horrible. Here is another profession ( I am thinking about Run On here ) is being killed by automation and human intolerance to waiting to get what they want. Fast food, on-demand, fast everything, people wanting to watch something with a nonsensical, crappy dialogue as long as it is fast. This is also a huge disservice to the people who wrote and acted the drama.

Yes, I watched a few free eps on a different platform and the subs were fine. I appreciate how complicated translation is and especially against a tight deadline - I used to do translation for a living, but in this case subs are so bad, I think they may have been Google translated or something.

I see. I wonder why they release a drama with Eng subs if they have not edited them yet, and frankly when their initial translation is so bad . Some is apparently word for word Chinese which in English becomes pure gibberish; bizarre spelling mistakes, a lot of grammar mistakes, confused tenses, genders, verb noun agreement, wrong predicates, wrong prepositions, wrong word order. It ruins viewing experience, especially because dialog is important here.

Drama is fine, but if you want to watch it on VIKI with English subtitles, be warned that subs are seriously off, to the point of not making sence half of the time.
