In a drama so rich with villains and creeps the person I hated the most from the get go was the 7th master. But what a great actor who plays him!

I absolutely loved the drama until 31 ep, when things became phantasmagorically convoluted and insane. And why is she suddenly the mastermind and in charge?

Somehow it seems to be typical of Chinese drama to pile up all sort of improbable twists and impossible turns at the very end. I guess they are not fans of the principal "less is more" Oh well.

It maybe a big deal, but it should not be a reason for destroying someone's career, and it should not be a crime.…
"Doing drugs is not a crime unless it's illegal" is it not common sense tho? - No. To begin with "doing drugs" normally means using drugs that are not prescribed by a doctor. We don't "do" medication prescribed, or over the counter, we "take" it. Second, what you are missing is that for a drug to become 'illegal' someone needs to decide to classify it as such, and then make use of that drug a crime. That is how law normally works. In most counties opioids do not land you with a possible 5 years prison term, and in several jurisdictions use of marijuana is legal. He tested positive for marijuana! and was 'suspected' for Propofol - which is an opioid. Marijuana, for goodness sakes! that in a country that drinks more than Russians with full social encouragement , while arresting people for smoking a joint.

Korea has one of the most punitive systems regulating drug use in the modern democratic world. "It is not a crime if it is not illegal' - huh? is there such a thing as a legal crime? A lot of things are made illegal by extremely conservative powers just because they think that severe punishment is a way to control a society. For instance being gay was illegal not so long ago- didn't make the law morally right or even socially useful. I am not advocating drug use at all, it is a huge problem, but I find attitudes of Korean laws and society to be extreme, in essence cruel and over-reaching, like in cases where a Korean who had smoked a joint in California can be punished with a prison sentence of up to five years when they get back home. That in my view is treating your citizenry as indentured slaves, whose very existence is defined by the parameters that their 'leaders' allow them.

Some of you acting like doing drugs isn't a big deal like?! This is not a small scandal that can just be brushed…
It maybe a big deal, but it should not be a reason for destroying someone's career, and it should not be a crime. This is nuts. And the sanctimony about 'doing a bad thing" is just that - prudish, uppedy, sanctimony. Korea seems to be addicted to moralistic scandals and tearing people into bits for it.

Liability ? You talk like he is putting together a team for climbing Everest, not asking her to marry him! . The whole drama is about "husband and wife are one". To call her a 'burden' - is simply bizarre to me. What do you want, for her to be a little woman and stay meekly at home while manly men do their thing? Survive on her own? HE has been the biggest danger to her from the get go. And btw it is she who saves his a$$ when he loses all hope and decides to die - saves him because she is that smart and loyal. She is the one who finds proof of his uncle's treachery, she not him; she faces the court, she warns the prince, she plays the flute to bring him back. And that is but for starters.

I agree with you, except she is not annoying to me at all, nor do I see her as weak. She is 16, smart, and very very inexperienced the ways of normal life. And the last thing she is is a burden,, not to anyone and specially to him. She is not begging to be taken along. She is expecting to SHARE his burden, and his life. That is a very different thing. He is extraordinary strong, in a way that cannot be matched by anyone. and he is 21, and very very inexperienced in the ways of normal life. But I think the writing gone off the rails a bit in the last 7 eps, what with the endless pile up of plots and cliffs and ridiculous vendettas and a somewhat convoluted overboard message about how independent and capable women are.

yes, but the way I see it no one has the right to make the OTHER die because they don't want to live without them. Such a decision would make them an irredeemable monster. She was hurt beyond reason- of course! But what exactly required forgiveness? What was his sin? Not dragging her to her death? Even when she sees him 5 years later she still holds her grudge more dear than him. And that doesn't compute for me. Love conquers all, but it conquers all in us, not others. Love conquers deepest hurts and resentments in us, it makes us wiser. But the drama somehow made him 100% wrong, and her somewhat juvenile grudge 100% right - that is a head scratcher for me. He is the one who is apologizing to her, and is regretting the core decision of his whole life because it didn't fit her 16 year old's notions of personal dedication. In my eyes that makes him a much better human than she is. And that was disappointing.

I have read the comments. I'm not a fan of Min Ho, but. Ahah. It's funny how all these people are afraid to admit…
I couldn't agree with you more. Lee Min Ho comes across to Western audiences as an embodiment of a character, not as an actor playing a character and in oveten overplaying it to a grotesque. There is something about his demeanor that has dignity. I wish there were better roles for him where he can stretch his acting abilities. I think now there are more younger actors who do the same - become the character, and dramas with them seem to be much more popular outside of Korea.

What an appalling premise: to steal an infant from a wife of your killed friend to groom him for revenge for that killing! Everything about that 'father' was over the top cartoonish psychopath. In all other respects the drama seems to be a recycling of tiered old themes, including obsessive prosecutor . LMH is playing yet again a rude boy with a heart of gold, and mommy issues. FL is the standard issue perky goody two shoes coping with consequences of a - you guessed it - tragic car accident , and behaves like a lunatic around ML. There are also obnoxious females who make you cringe when watching, and cartoonish corrupted officials . I know that many think that it was a good drama for 10 years ago but didn't age well. I disagree, I think it is and was mediocre. It is watchable, but nothing special.

Each to their own. I find her one of the most endearing and attractive FM leads.

I LOVE the first 42 eps, they make this one of my absolutely favorite dramas. The rest though the story line worked out, seemed to me choppy, overburdened with intrigues and too much high drama and plot within a plot. And the last 6-5 were so stuffed with impossible situation and her in mortal danger it was getting too much. The last one with a fiery tomb was just ridiculous to me. But the whole thing with her not forgiving him for years and years I thought was just strange. What exactly did she want him to do? Drag her to die with him on that cliff? Not save her in form of that firing squad by not jumping off the cliff? The whole thing felt to me rather artificial and exaggerated to the ends degree. Maybe the drama just wanted to give them both time to grow up - she is a teenager at the beginning of their engagement , and he is but 21, by the time they are finally together they are 20 and 25, but still. And the very ending - happy as it was - I thought was rushed and clipped. But even with these flaws I still love this drama.

well, we happen to disagree on this quite strongly, I see the story as something completely different from your interpretation. As to the English title being the deciding factor - that is a very weak argument imo. We know nothing about real Jin Do Jun, except that he was killed. The rest was all in HW head.

To me too. But it could not continue, I think, because it was a manufactured life, not real. If it continued it would be like a possession going back in time, a ghost story of sorts, and 2 dead men with no resolution for either of them.

Actually we don't know whether he was living the life of Do Joon the way real Do Joon had lived it. We know how 40 year old shot in the head person thinks he experienced 17 year of someone's else's life in a week.

Do you even understand what you just wrote? 🤣 You may want to look up the actual code, or at least read the rest of the website you quote, you would see how far off base you are. 22 says nothing about obligation to report! It is about person counsels another person to become a party to a crime. Obligation to report exists under some *provincial* regulations for cases of abuse of minors , and it is not a felony anyway. I am done with this convo. Bye.

You are accusing him of having evidence and not going to the police with it, that is no aiding and abetting after the fact. There is no obligation to REPORT a crime.. If that Kim person or the father were under investigation for this murder and asked him to give false evidence to the prosecutor, or hide some physical evidence that prosecutors would have found , or help them leave the country or something, then a case could be made that he was helping after the fact , but even in that case he is was doing it under duress. But there is no prosecution, and he is not hiding any evidence during an investigation. He is not coming forward to REPORT a crime. Yes he has a recording to support his claim but there is no investigation of a crime going on. He is not being questioned by the police or prosecutors . Btw such a recording may or may not be considered evidence in a court of law. He plays it during a hearing not in court, and the fall out is public outrage not criminal charges against the family. You are free to think what you want, but legal terms are defined, and if an action doesn't have all the attributes to fit that definition then there is no case. He is not a criminal, but whatever, think what you want.
