On My Fellow Citizens! May 15, 2019
The commentary about lion and gazelle over Yang Jung Gook carrying out his little plan was genius. I am enjoying the never ending creativity.

One of the points of appreciation is the natural dialogue. It says a lot about the characters even if what they say is not grand. For example, when Yang Jung Gook was biding his time in his office, and Wang Go was arguing with the female con artist. I loved that scene because it appeared to be like your every day group of people. The room will be full of people but each character's interaction is worthy of attention. I cannot word what I want to say, buy, in a few words, excellent directing.

Park Hoo Ja must be having the most stressful time of her life. And things are definitely going to go south for her, as the closing scene of the previous episode indicated.
On The Secret Life of My Secretary May 15, 2019
My current watchlist is filled with intense dramas, so I decided to give a lighthearted drama a chance. Plus, Kim Young Kwang struck me as a cool dude, and now I get to see him in a lead role. I was reluctant, given the premise about prosopagnosia and double life. I can handle the illness, but double life isn't my cup of tea. Anyhow, although the latter is not my favourite aspect, the former is delivering. The male lead's struggle with face blindness is believable. And what's more, I'm pleasantly surprised by Young Kwang - he is a good actor! I felt for him when he broke down.

I guess I'll stick with this. The leads are cute together but the secret life felt unnecessary in the bigger scheme of things. It gives way to a circle in kdramas that never breaks and suddenly the back and forth ruins everything. Hopefully the writer has something in mind.

For a second, I thought there would be a season two, what with the open ending they were hinting at near the end. But my hopes came crashing down! Not complaining. Loved the closing scene. Very satisfying to see Do Hyun looking like a wizard in those robes.

Watching episode 16, and I am ENJOYING these powerful men being brought to their knees. If only this happened in real life. I relate to Do Hyun's rather overpowering emotions in court. The righteous anger burning away the smug smiles is what I live for.

Episode 13 was hilarious. The villains have zero control over their minions. Jung Gook's bravado and characters' surprising quirks are consistently delivering. I have to say, the editing does the trick. the back and forth makes the plot engaging and flashbacks fun.

This is shaping up into my clear best of this year so far and I don't mean that lightly. Fantastic viewing and…
I think a handful of viewers gave it a rating below five. Sigh.

Final comment for today, I swear: Jeo Bong Jun was made for Choi Moo Sung. He exudes leadership, discipline, and morality, so well has he embodied Nokdu.
On The Nokdu Flower May 11, 2019
Can we appreciate the OST? It awakens the disciplined soldier within me. And the music they use! I was taken aback by rock in the first episode, but the next thing you know, I look forward to the action just because of that BGM.

When Yi Kang teaches Nokdu how to shake hands - hilarious! The confusion on Bong Jun's face was priceless. I am already looking forward to more of the two's interactions.

Title The Nokdu Flower Spoiler
Looks like Lady Song has yet to find her place. She is not there, neither is she here: she just is. It seems her affection for Yi Kang and her consideration for people in general will lead her to Nokdu. She really just needs a push.

Yi Kang's growth in this episode was stressful but heartwarming in the end. He was almost moved by his father's pleas, but it was only for his brother that he gave in, only partly. Whatever his past may be, he is strong-willed, almost recklessly. I am afraid his weakness (Yi Hyun) may be utilized by the other side to manipulate him in future. His poor excuse of a father knows that much, and if he deems it right for himself, he may attack is own son.

Yi Hyun is still set in his principles. I like seeing different sides to him; often times, he reflects his father's tendency to lean on the immoral side. He has not been outright about it, but I can see him witnessing his worst side before he goes to Nokdu. My assessment might be wrong, however.

I am GLAD Na Yi Jae called out Lee Jae Hwan's mother for her doings too. It was grating my nerves how she felt she is holier-than-thou. Lee Jae Hwan is likeable because he admits he has been wrong. But his mother? Not so keen on that.

How could Na Yi Jae overlook such an important detail? He should have assigned his task to someone who was in the hospital, not keep it to himself when he was going to prison. Ugh.

Lee Jae Jun is caught up in self pity in the worst possible way. It's amazing how he can tell a doctor in his face that he is healthy when it's apparent Huntington has caught up to him as well. He is in denial.

Does anyone else thinks that mi young already knew that he is a con artist??
I think she knows too. How else will Jung Gook save their marriage? But then again, she should have been angry with him had she known.

Also, I knew Lee Jae Jun was suffering from some disease! His ticks and trembling were not normal. Anyway, glad to see a villain with a weakness that could bring him down from the director's position. (I am also proud of myself for already knowing about Huntington's. Thank you, biology.)
