I agree that when BL writers present an uke as this fragile flower ALL THE TIME, in ALL series - it’s absurd, irritating and boring. While I am perfectly fine with this dynamic once in a while, I do like to see different couples with different stories. They could be a verse couple, or a dominant uke - that would be interesting. And body types / mannerisms should also be represented on a wider scale as they also make for a variety of possible stories. Just my opinion ☺️

I agree that BLs are hardly a golden standard of anything, let alone relationships - it’s like trying to logically follow any Disney princesses movies. Eventually, you just go “yeah, ok” and keep watching for their aesthetics.
Although, while we cringe at bad screenwriting, life says:”Hold my beer” and presents us with stuff even those screenwriters would cringe at 😉
Anyway, while I understand your point about super fragile nagging guy being annoying, I think it takes both nature and nurture for this dynamic to work, and when those two factors happily collide - it does work. Like uou said - seme wants his partner to be a dying swan (nature), and he’s taught exactly how to treat such a partner (nurture). Same goes for the “swan” partner - he is very comfortable in his “permanently dying” position (nature) and he’s encouraged by the seme and his family to behave like that and easily manipulates his “protector” (nurture). Again, those unions can be very happy and partners thoroughly enjoy each other and their roles.
Sorry for rambling - I’m also definitely older than those boys and definitely no mother Theresa, but I’ve seen that stuff working. While this dynamic is not for me, I just acknowledge it, and to each their own! 🥂

Just wanted to mention about Cake’s shifting personality from a playful boy to a protective adult - I have seen this happen in real life. It happens when children are very close both in age (since birth) and as friends, especially as a result of parents being close friends. When one of the kids is more fragile and another one is a natural protector, it’s super easy for parents to literally indoctrinate them into “A is smaller/weaker/sickly, so B has to protect A at all cost”. When this mantra is repeated day in and day out, you get exactly the situation with Cake and Siew - both are eagerly participating in the screenplay written by parents since their birth. I am not saying it’s good, bad or in between. I am saying that it happens, so I was very ready for this relationship to be presented the way it is.

I do like the series and I do feel for Pam as she’s basically between the rock and the hard place. Like you, I also hope it was a slip up and her character progresses nicely into an independent and thoughtful woman.

Still, I get her behavior with grandpa, it just really irked me when she had to bite Ayood out of nowhere.

I actually noticed this type of character in J-BLs - he’s very self-controlling and doesn’t express any feelings. Sometimes it’s just his character that was built under certain circumstances, sometimes it’s a condition (like in Meow ears up). I don’t think I’ve seen many characters like that in Thai BLs - except for My Engineer (Perth played the character).

I understand she’s tired of Ayood flirting with her and she wanted him to shut up about what happened, but that comment of hers was sooo out of character for her that it had me seriously cringe, especially when it was aimed at a wrong person at a wrong time. Meanwhile, she was being her normal doormat self when she was profusely apologizing to gramps for some true things she said 🤷‍♀️

Actually, I think Cherry was under Danai’s orders to shoot Kim, and Baiboon just happened to be there. I don’t remember that, but the only thing Kim could realistically threat Itt with was to calculate his taxes. He had no means to murder Itt’s family or sell his friends to sex slavery. Meanwhile, Danil has the means and motive to do that.
So, if I was Kim I would be rightfully panicking, reporting it to Kamol asap and feeding those tigers with some fresh meat, curtesy of Kamol. 😻

Yes, Danil is definitely a psycho, but I will take him any day over a useless trope of a dense girl who doesn’t get what “gay” means 🤔 In this particular case it’s solely on screen writers since Cherry is not in the novel…🤷‍♀️
