The Pages of a Fairytale

Avengers Social Club. It's about three woman who end up bonding over getting revenge on the men who wronged them.
I don't enjoy stories about revenge unless the message is that revenge is destructive and unhealthy.

I’m with you. I’m so tired of catty women, love triangles and scheming ex girlfriends.Ugh. I prefer women…
I'm glad we've moved past the era in Kdramas when most secondary female characters were evil villains, but I'm not bothered by stories showing women being mean to each other. Women can be really nasty to one another, and I want to watch dramas that reflect that. But I also love stories that showcase strong, supportive female friendships as well. A balance of both is most reflective of reality.

Age of Youth, Because This Is My First Life and Meet Yourself are my top 3.
I've seen and love both Age of Youth and Because This is My First Life. Haven't seen Meet Yourself, but it is on my watchlist.

Female friendship is one of my favorite drama themes, and I love a good female ensemble drama. It's that combo of following each leads individual lives (and usually individual romances) combined with the dynamics of the friend group that always gets me.

On that note, if anyone has any good female friendship/female ensemble drama recs, send them my way, lol.

The typical for Kdramas has always been 16, sometimes 18/20/24, episodes. Less than 16 was very unusual for a long time. We've only really been seeing dramas with fewer than 16 episodes in recent years.

Guys?! Why's we still have no season two?! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ You guys already move on and learn the truth or still…
Oh, I think it's very unlikely this will ever be finished. But I'll be sitting my butt down to watch if this somehow ends up with a second season, lol.

I see everybody is on the same point as me, one episode per week it's too annoying and devastating to wait for…
It's partly to do with baseball season. This happens every year with whatever drama is airing during the same slot as baseball. And on top of that, this drama has fewer episodes than the typical drama, so they already were spreading the episodes out differently.

It's not a strategy. This just happens with dramas sometimes when different sports seasons come around. Baseball…
I know, and they were both super enjoyable, lol.

One of my favorite things about the Editorials (apart from the actual writing, of course) is how aesthetically…
Oh, yeah. Super pretty.

This is a great analogy. But I gotta show some love for deep-fried mars bars, because they are the goat, lol.
In seriousness, deep-fried mars bars are delicious. Melted chocolate, caramel, and nougat fried in batter. Mmmmmm.

The trailer is of an unrelated movie currently in theaters (what are the chances, I know). Here is an actual promo…
Thank you for this. I watched the trailer first then read the synopsis and was totally confused, lol.

You will definitely burn out, lol. I was like that for probably close to the first seven to ten years of being…
That's a tough one, because I wasn't able to force myself to stop. At a certain point, my subconscious took over and just wouldn't let me engage with dramas as much anymore. (I should add here that my break wasn't a full-on sabbatical either. I did still watch an occasional drama. But subconsciously, my brain was like 'We're not gonna be watching all the things anymore, got it?')

Part of my problem was that I was abnormally afraid of taking a break from dramas, because I loved them so much and didn't want to fall out of love with them. After taking my 'break' and coming back to dramas, I realized that was a silly thing to be worried about. Me and dramas are clearly married for life, lol. But even if I had stopped watching dramas altogether and never came back, that would have been okay too.

Maybe it would be helpful to remind yourself that taking a break or consuming fewer/being more selective doesn't mean you'll stopping loving dramas. It means you can love them better. And even if you do stop watching them, that's okay too. Maybe paying attention to the things that trigger that competitive need and finding ways to avoid those things would help. And maybe asking yourself why you feel like you need to compete with your friends.

Or you might just be like me and have to go through a period where your subconscious takes over and says no more, lol.

"Overall, I'm glad that I discover dramas when they were a niche entertainment." I feel this way too. I'm unsure…
Truthfully, I feel like we had better access to dramas back then. Not that there were more sites to watch from, but people seemed to upload a little bit of everything. The video quality was obviously much lower, and subs could be very hit or miss, but I do feel like there were way more dramas available. Although maybe that's my rose-tinted glasses talking, lol.

I really regret not getting into downloading dramas back then. There are a ton of older dramas I would love to watch but that you can't find today. There's one in particular that I would almost give my left kidney to find, lol.

And I miss MySoju. Which is probably also my rose-tinted glasses talking, lol.

The Editorials are written by unpaid volunteers who come up with the topics themselves based on their own experiences…
Man, don't you just love it when people write comments that are kind of combative and then when they get polite, respectful responses providing pushback, they delete the original comments.

The internet, am I right, lol?

I like to make food analogies and hype is like covering your drama in batter and deep frying it. Most people will…
This is a great analogy.

So true! I was afraid the editorials were gone for good, in which case MDL becomes just another media/PR outlet.
Thank you!
