yo i haven't checked out the comment section for a while and it turn into jjy hatefest LOL
It's funny because the show clearly didn't take itself seriously. The acting of all cast member clearly did not aim for the award-winning kind.
jjy is doing okay.
the story is okay. not captivating but okay. I just watch it while eating. lol

Noir is not an excuse for bad writing. A lot of good, famous noirs have lead characters that people can connect with.
Noir is not only about good/bad/grey people but also about humanity. They explore human morals. make viewers sympathize with and question their morality.

But the leads in this drama just can't do that at all. The execution is too weak.

As for the rating, I feel like it's the expectation that ruin it. In all the press tours, they have set the bar so high.
Sure, there're shows that're worse than this one. but the higher they put themselves, the harder they will fall.
I really have nothing else to say.

this show is the perfect example , how can a girl ruin the entire drama and , friendship between two friends ,…
She didn't. The writer and the director did.
I saw someone say that the director gave an interview "before" the drama aired, saying that she's the reason the friendship changed. but I think he just tried not to give the "plot twist" away that In Ha is the villain.
But It's pretty clear he only made a move on her after confirming TO's feelings for her.

Is it slow? yes. Is it good? yes.
The story is nothing new and the plot is simple. So they didn't really try to make it exciting but rather aimed for poetic storytelling. and add comedy to spice the mood in case it's too "boring" for some.
The mood and tone are really well put. I love how beautiful they make this drama. like a living painting.
the story is well put together so far. Well-written characters. very enjoyable.

They carefully built up the world and characters for 20+ eps (more than half) I hope it paid off well in later eps. I'm a little worried they gonna rush it up in the end.

hopefully those who rated it so extremely low because of FL ,will give it a fair rating after it ends, overall…
I don't hate FL at all I hate writer nim director nim LOL. other than that, the characters got more stupid each episode they kept writing things that are very overused in this type of dramas. making it super boring for a thriller.

If Hong Su Zu's agency wants her to further her acting career, they really need to pick the right genre and script.…
agree!.
ppl bring up successful actors/actresses who have bad acting in their "breaking out roles" as examples and say that they got less shit than her (especially some famous actors).

I don't think this is 100% sexism. Most of them got the lead in rom-coms or light-hearted dramas first. And their drama was doing well. Their characters were well written and, later, well loved by viewers.

I loved it from start to finish :D The perfect love story... though the first episodes weren't very realistic.…
I think he knew at first but he assumes it's just a crush, like girls like pretty boy kind, then the imaginary bf happens and he thinks she's over him already .
I mean, the guy knows he's hot and a lot of girls like him. but he has his issues too and it pretty much makes him don't want to get into a relationship. went years without any love interest.
He's too busy thinking about the heavier stuff. while the romance is the focus of this story because we are in FL's point of view. ML life has a lot more going on.

does this drama even pass the Bechtel test? does FL exist except for a point of conflict with the leads?

let's say It's a miracle that the script was picked up. one-time miracle.
It's a miracle they got this set of cast too lol. (beside HSZ)
HSZ got most of the backlash because her acting was compared to everyone else in the drama but her bad acting is pale in comparison to the writer, director, producer's failure.
I wish they got more backlash (but not social media bullying tho. No one should),

I think their failure is the biggest disappointment I feel from watching.
I try turn my brian off. make me laugh, tho. what a mess

I remember when I watched this as it aired. pretty good.
Sibling relationships look so natural. The acting is really natural. The directing/editing/sound is great too.
I feel like they did the age dif really well. not creepy at all.
Basically the FL has crush over ML since middle school ( little crush in middle school, then develops to one-sided love in HS) The ML have no idea about it.
He's kind and friendly to EVERYONE.(LMAO the public air thing is super funny)
but as we have mostly FL points of view, it's easy to think he's flirting.
And he has 0 relationships before.

The real relationship happen when FL over 18. while I'm not a fan of marry young ( too young to know what life really is) I sympathize with the ML life story. he's a more than decent guy.
they deserve e/o

I want to watch this drama but it’s kinda unsettling to me how she saved his number as brother no.2 and he went…
I don't know if you're Asian or not. But in many Asian cultures, we call older male "brother".
Seniority is a normal thing here. and that makes us call our brother's friends "brother/gege" too. even a stranger can be call "gege"
She didn't think of him as her actual brother. But there's a moment when she's in middle school, she wishes ML could be her real brother so he would come help her out like he did. That's it. That sentence alone can not say that she think of him as an actual brother.

I think we can see from the kid's face that she has had a little crush on him since the beginning.

This is a very light-hearted kind of show. The crime-thriller side is light but entertaining. The logic is acceptable. there're some plot hole but it's not that important to the story. 70/30 on romance and crime.
I feel like it's selling what it is already. easy entertaining!

The editing and music are a mess. It's too much and ruining the moment. They should have let the acting do the work. make the tension build at a much slower pace. create that feeling of romance.
This is the kind of show you want the viewer to sympathize with both leads. get into their headspace and get lost in their romance.
But it seems so rushed. Like the showrunner didn't believe in the acting, or they just didn't think it was enough, so they used music to make the mood happen. but it turned out overpower the performance
