Yes. Because in the US version, that lady detective is an accomplice of Sin Rostro (Chairman Kim)
They should have deviated from the US version. She never looked suspicious and to charge her now like a mule and throw her under the bus is too lazy writing considering there is only a few eps left.
I am so disappointed by the acting of the FL. Im Soo Hyang. She constantly has this deer in the headlights look…
Woori is my favorite in this story even if she looks like a doormat at first. I like the evolution of her character. She started as a frustrated girlfriend in a bland relationship then got pregnant by accident. She treated the child as a thing to give away. Callled it "mallet". Then she started to invest herself, to love the baby, to act to protect him and work for his happiness. This is where she got rid of Kang Jae. Good decision. Then she moves on to fall for the other guy because he is nice to the baby and more fun and caring than her ex...
I agree the pairing is wrong. Raphael is inconsistent in his mood and behavior. From caring guy to stupid son to loud director of an hospital. And the actor playing him is so woodenface, It's annoying. I would really have preferred Lee Joon Huyk in the role but propably they wanted a goofy tone with that character.
Eps 5 and 6 are so good. I have the feeling they spent a lot of time next to each other and they have been fantasizing about it many times. Now that this dream of the future happened, they are trying to use it as a pretense to check on each other's real feelings and intention. I really like the game they play against each other when they obvioulsy like each other.
Second couple looks fun and is now taking a new direction. But I guess it will keep being a comic relief only. A third couple in the making? But that would mean Hong Ye Seul doesn't always see the future...? does she?
because chinnes is famous for this genre which automatically makes people think of it after seeing something similar?…
Do you know the Chinese drama called Joy of life? It's a wuxia xianxia drama. Well you know what? There is an anti material gun in it. Probably an american cal 0.50 Barrett M82. Did America tell the producers they plagiarized American weapons? So of course fictions can do what they want. As long as it is coherent. There is a Fantasy movie called Gardian of Galaxy. There is a giant duck in it.
You probably misread. I dit not say "culture is not identity". I said culture and its elements define an identity. Today, classic Mao suit defines China and is referred to as chinese. Was it the case 1000 years ago? No. Will it be the same in the next 100 years? Probably not Culture evolves and so does what defines and identifies a people or a country. Things like noodles identified China but identifies now Italy via pasta or Japan which developped their unique and recognizable ramen.
This is a worldwide process of exchange and inspiration for people and human societies. South Korea developped its dramas and movies and inspired themselves from others and now what they did identifies their own entertainment industry and makes their own fame.
Now there are these people who are nationalistic warriors who try to find in what others do what might be associated to what used to identify them, their people, their country. So they can claim it is theirs. They need that to feel that their culture is important and predominant and they want to find a pride in it.So they enter in a feud of arguments. They would call other stealing their culture and plagiarizing and it goes far to the point they would threaten each other.
"if they have these things in it, then they are openly admitting that they are plagiarizing, right?"
Reading this, you are probably one of these people I am talking about.
Don't worry, nobody stole your culture. Culture means reinventing, improving and evolving. All what it showed in this drama is 100% Daeho culture inspired from Korean culture which inspired itself from other culture like China which inspired itself from many culture around the world.
If you don't believe me, you can take your copyrights on Wuxia/Xianxia genre and go sue them to court. Like Hollywood would come sue China for copying Hollywood "action hero saving the world" movies when China made Wolf Warrior.
That would be something horrible. How could the ML face the FL knowing that her heart is the one of his abducted…
I agree with that and I also heard of these "special" connections in real life. But what part of the connection he has relates to the twin sister and what part relates to the FL? Does it mean that he and FL are especially connected just because of an organ she gained after a terrible murder?
That would be a terrible situation for both of them.
For the organ transplant, if the people who kidnapped and killed the sister are her mom and grandma I don't see…
If the theory of the organ transplant is true, I can't imagine any romance possible. If you add that her mom and grandma killed the twin sister, It's even worse. Because ML said if it was his sister he would kill the aggressor. So he would have to kill both her mom and grandma.
I don't believe the female lead is his sister can't be that at all ,, but I think of the organ transplant theory…
That would be something horrible. How could the ML face the FL knowing that her heart is the one of his abducted and murdered twin sister? Of course she is not responsible but to see a face that would always remind him the terrible demise of his twin sister?... Hard to take.
Plus, as in dramaworld, the question will be what made him closer to her then? Her own person? Or the heart he was able to connect to? Is this reel affection for her or affection for his deceased sister by substitution?
he def found the body and moved it somewhere especially since he noticed the bruises and everything and he knew…
That would make him an accomplice because it is unlawful to hide a corpse. In my country you can receive 2 years in jail and 30.000,00 dollar fine for that. I don't think their relationship is at a stage where he would risk that for her. For me it is more likely that the guy was not dead and left. Or an accomplice or a witness took the body. If you are right and he becomes involved this will be even darker than expected.
because chinnes is famous for this genre which automatically makes people think of it after seeing something similar?…
This drama is happening in a fictional country at a fictional time and they can use anything they want as long as it is consistent.
Culture is not something static that people own. It is something evolving and that is passed on. Italy created pasta from chinese noodles and China adopted the western clothing instead of traditional clothing for everyday life. Why Korea or any other country could not adopt hanfu clothes or mexican tacos or US hot dogs and make their of version of them?
What makes it Korean or Chinese is not the origin. It is the identity it refers to. Kimchi is not Chinese. Kimchi is Korean. It defines the Korean identity. Just like the clothes derived and inspired from Hanfu were korean because they were used and defined the korean identity at that time. The classic style mao jacket is typical of China and refers to chinese identity. Still it was influenced from western clothing modified with a traditional chinese collar.
The style changes and it will keep changing. But is will still be korean or chinese if it participates in defining the korean or the chinese identity.
People can say it gives them this or that vibe. The vibe belongs to them. I do not share that vibe as visually, for me all the costumes here just look same as the one in usual korean historical drama and defining them. Anyway here they are not Korean style. They are Daeho style in this drama. Same for the furniture, place, houses...
Wuxia and Xanxia have codes and specificities which defines chinese subgenres of fictions. But they are not in this drama so far. Personally I surely hope this drama creates its own identity and universe.
I think due to the fact that this specific genre (historical fantasy) is very popular in China and has thus been…
So far, I don't see any element to make an association between this drama and wuxia or xianxia. The swordwoman and swordman look of it is just like usual korean historical drama and the fantasy look of it doesn't refer to anything xianxia.
I also hope it will have its own distinctive style.
I think ppl mainly claim it's similar because it has old Chinese looking clothing (which Koreans copied through…
Heroic adventures belong more to the wuxia genre where the hero is low class people but a fighter and goes place to place to fight for the right thing and improve himself. In Korean historical drama I watched, the ML is mostly royal or nobility and there is few adventures. The plot evolves around same places and same characters and there is only one main plot. I suspect in AOS the ML has a funny birth story but it is not his true origin.
ML will not be a big fighter probably. Epic fightings are also more in Wuxia with people taking martial stances, barehand kung fu, hitting acupuncturist points, jumping and flying everywhere, swordfights floating in the air... Korean historical drama fights have no martial arts and swordfights are quite basic. So I do not expect and I do not wish for this drama to look wuxia.
Ep10. If her home is a crime scene, how is she able to just go inside and search already? Kang Jae's detective…
To think that the guy Kang Jae had the biggest piece of evidence in his hand when he investigated the house of the murdered guy Noh Man Cheol. He did not confiscate and investigate the necklace but instead he stole it to cover for Ma Ri. Agree his methods are very questionable.
I'm definitely suspecting KJ's partner. He always tells her everything he finds. As for the preview. Please, don't…
Maybe she is in cahoots with the bad guys... That would be shocking for me.
This drama already presented a cringe proposal using the kids of a church. Why not a second one in public? I agree with you. Better be sure of the answer beforehand. All these public proposal rejections are funny to watch but also sad and kind pathetic is you are the one who proposes.
Agree Rapahel and Woori are clearly not at a stage you can propose.
because chinnes is famous for this genre which automatically makes people think of it after seeing something similar?…
So shall we consider that a chinese movie using a character dressed into cossaks and using daggers and a shashka is a russian fantasy movie?
Plus there are so many style of hanfu you could call all the clothes in korean hystorical drama "hanfu" so all the korean historical dramas must be chinese historical drama according to your logic?
I don't think that makes this a xianxia. Xianxia has plenty of codes which give a typical universe that is not here.
