No she did not love him. If she did, she would not have married the officer out of gratefulness and duty even if she thought ML was dead. This was no good reason enough considering how stubborn she used to be.
She believed the man she loved was dead? She did not love the officer. Still she moved to another man easy peasy and married him out of gratefulness, comfort and duty. She should take responsibility for it.
You are gagging yourself. The husband is still looking for her and she knows nothing of what happened still she is meddling with another man when she is a married woman.
So according to you the main target group of this show is supposed to understand that a joseon era's wife getting entangled with her former suitor is fine and this do not need authenticity. Well I guess I am not part of this main target group. But I do respect their opinion.
I don't understand how people justify this by "he abandoned her". He is still looking for her. True or not they are still married and without an official paper of repudiation, she should not be able to do ... "what she wants" .
What upsets me most is that she is the cause of all this. She agreed to marry a man she did not love when she was assassinating people with the idea that she would only marry the man she loves.
What now? She is going to get rid of her husband for the man she loves?
You are hopelessly trying to justify her actions when her husband that she married willingly is still looking for her. She is a married woman. She should get a divorce before involving herself with other men. You are judging her from your modern values. I am just speaking aboutf historical consistency and veracity.
If Jang Hyun was not so full of himself and of his own intelligent way to make a woman like Gil Chae fall for…
I don't think in the Joseon era, a lot of young women fell in love with a man a married him. Marriages were mostly arranged by the parents. He missed that and he thought he could manage using his own ways. Bad strategy. Gil Chae was too prideful and stubborn to fall in love quickly and time did not play in his favor. In the end, she married out of gratefulness and duty. Not because she fell in Love. He should have known that aspect of things and played that card instead.
It does not matter what she thinks her husband would do if she got back to him. She is still married and does not have the right to be involved with another man. If it was South Korean in 2023, I would disagree that a wife cheats on her notorious bad husband, but I would turn a blind eye. But this is Joseon era and there should be some consistency.
Now they are finding 1 000 ways to bring them together out of their good intention for each other, but she is married! It looks anachronism for me. Or should I convince myself that back in Joseon, wives could rekindle their good feelings with their former suitors when they were away from their husband?
One moment she has her gun in her bag and she is ready to shoot Ki Chul dead. Then later she promises everything and confess and kiss him. She is ready to do anything for her husband. I am not sure if it is Love. It is like her family makes her marriage difficult. But she keeps her duty in sight. And she surely do not love Ki Chul. The guy is deluded and propbably it will lead him into a sad predicament. Joon Mo obviously loves his wife or else he would have banged ms Lee more than once already. I like these three characters.
I think the serie is good. It is an ultra violent ultra romanticized cop vs gangster genre with a lot of boasting and schemes. Not everyone will like it but I do.
Writers are digging dirt at the husband so that Gil Chae's behavior would not look too reprehensible. The truth is that she was his good wife for years. They lived together, slept together, cared about each other... There was no problem between them but suddenly she is abducted, and he becomes a jealous man who chases after his runaway wife to save her or punish her.
Truth is she is a married woman, and a married woman should not think so little of her own husband when she does not know. And she should not get involved with another man especially in Joseon era when a cheating woman could be killed by her husband who would just receive a fine.
They wanted to make this a Joseon "Gone with the wind" but they forgot to have her husband dead beforehand like Scarlett's ones. Her married status when being entangled and emotionally involved with the ML... it is unethical.
So yeah, the scene of them meeting when JAng Hyun paid to "spend the night with her" and her being exhausted,…
If Jang Hyun was not so full of himself and of his own intelligent way to make a woman like Gil Chae fall for him, she would have become his woman a long time ago already. Now he is still pinning for her but she is a married woman.
I beg to differ. I like this drama a lot. It is my fav currently airing drama. It is better than My dearest but…
For me the fact that the FL is emotionally involved with the ML when she is already married is cheating. I know her husband is not the greatest guy, but she married him on her own accord and now she doesn't care about him while he is looking for her.
As for her chastity, of course she lost it. With her husband. She said she would be a good wife and good wives in Joseon bed with their husband. Especially when they have no reason to refuse it to him for years. It is silly to think that she was married all this time and was a good wife but never slept with her husband. After she said she would be good, she went out to see the moon. It was done.
She probably did not become a prostitute. She did not sell her body. But in these times of war and the drama says it, women taken captive or enslaved or sold, they would be abused and mistreated. Why would it be different for the FL? People have their own interpretation but for me, she went through all this misery. The whole question is how will ML and FL deal with each other knowing all what they went through?
I only know a little Women of comfort. I think it is different here. Not the same scale or organization.

The officer is her husband, he is not... ;)
