Don't stress too much about these things. His last day of filming was December 19 & he was caught filming something again (for a completely different project) in January.

Also, wait till mid March - there are strong rumors he will begin filming for a new drama. Remember, just because we don't know he has no new projects it does not mean he doesn't. His team has gotten really good at keeping secrets - i.e. Heroes In Harm's Way - no one knew he was filming it until they released promos.

Idk, I read in the comment section that they focused more on the Female Lead because she was more popular at the time - so they were hoping her popularity would help the drama. Which of course is a bit funny because it didn't end up that way at all - this is the main reason why I dislike when filmmakers change scripts just to please a popular actor. I feel it just ruins the story - like stick to the story that would make the audience happy.

I personally would probably not watch if there is no Xiao Zhan for season 2 - mainly because I only watched this one because of him. But I mean douluo has a huge following on its own - so I feel it should still do fine in the market as long as the story is good. I just hope the screen writer does a really good job with the twist - since I feel like he is adding to the suspense which makes people believe it will be great. So if it doesn't end up good - I think a lot of people will be disappointed.

That is why I said Xiao Wu was very 1 dimensional as a character & the actress didn't do a great job acting. Like when she was emotional about all the soul beasts that died in the prison - I couldn't take her seriously because I felt she was still trying to act cute. Like, at that moment u should have showed some anger or an extreme sadness. But instead all u see really is like a single tear roll down - & at that moment I was like yea she isn't cutting it for me. The end scene with Tang San & Xiao Wu definitely seemed unnecessary - & it kind of lacked any emotion as well from Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu in general just infuriates me (if no one had noticed lol). The main thing that upset me was her keeping such a big secret from Tang San - when this man told her everything & she would stick her nose in his business every turn she got.

This is my speculation - I feel because the budget wasn't that high in the beginning, they tried to save money by not adding too many fight scenes. That is why I feel like we didn't get that many long fight scenes because that would require a ton of CGI - & they probably didn't want to blow their entire budget on 1 fight scene. Of course they lucked out because they had Xiao Zhan - so they got more money but at that point they couldn't really go back & record those scenes again.

Lol, I feel that is the definition of a bias & u hit it right on the mark. There will always be people who come walking in with a pre-set bias & there is nothing anyone can say that will change their minds. I, honestly, don't mind people having those extreme views because it just means they have a difference of opinion. However, with the censorship thing - I feel sometimes censorship is to blame, especially for some C-dramas lol. I never watched Guardian, just know its a bromance - but just from that I could tell how much censorship it must have gone through lol. The people have to go through 100000 hoops to pass censorship - after a point u have to cut them some slack. Like the amount people have to edit & cut scenes out just to please the censorship board is crazy. And I heard Guardian was taken down because it got hit with censorship while it was airing - so it had to be extremely edited at the end for it to be broadcasted again without getting into trouble. I mean they got lucky that they didn't go through what Addicted did (I think that is the name) - where the drama was taken down & the main leads could no longer be in any dramas together. So, that is another thing people have to worry about if they don't pass censorship - losing their jobs. But I mean of course if u don't like it, then that is ur opinion - and no one should tell u that u should like it for whatever reason they say. I just think censorship would be considered a plausible excuse lol.

From what I recall - Tang San stated that except for him it was impossible for anyone else to learn the skills from the book. Because he learned it from when he was little - the power was able to fuse with his soul spirit & become one. However, Bibi Dong would be unable to do it because she would have learned the technique too late. That is why Tang San told Xiao Wu that the method his mother & father had discovered would be impossible to use because it required people to learn it at a young age.

I thought the reason Bibi Dong was so powerful was because her & the Chrysanthemum guy was doing experiments on the Soul Beast - which led to certain discoveries (which they never stated what they were). And wasn't the reason why the Martial Soul Hall people wanted to kill Tang San's mother was because she was a 10,000 year old soul beast that turned human - like the same way Xiao Wu was about to get killed.

I definitely believe their will be a 2nd season - mainly, like u said, the show is very popular in China & has a huge viewership amongst different groups. So, it will definitely get more investors in the beginning. Overall, this drama was fun to watch & I enjoyed it & Xiao Zhan's acting was superb. My only complaint really was Xiao Wu - but everything else & every other actor did a great job.

Yea I noticed that as well. Like some people who have the same # of rings does not really mean they have the same level of power. I mean, this is a bad example, but Mu Bai & his brother each have 4 rings but of course Mu Bai's brother is a lot stronger than him. But I feel in that case it's mainly due to him having the 4 rings longer than Mu Bai.

I don't really know what her power is but I just felt that with the number of opponents she had - it should have been a little bit more difficult for her. Like there were 5+ opponents - which included the 9 soul Ghost guy - & she completely KO'ed them without a single sweat. Seemed a bit OP in my opinion.

Yea I was wondering why Chrysanthemum didn't get his ass beat by two - 9 soul rings + Rong Rong's dad. I mean it looked like he was going to lose but I felt like it shouldn't have been even a fight - like it should have been a complete KO.

Yea, at the end - I forget if they were Titled douluos or not but we did have the 9 soul Ghost guy also attack Bibi Dong. But, he absolutely did nothing to her - just kind of felt like a fly that she was squatting down. Is that really the level of difference between a 9 soul ring & Bibi Dong? Because I feel that is a bit insane.

Okay episode 40, really? The fight scene between the 2 schools were great - but then we get to the end. Like we see Tang Hao walking in like an absolute BOSS & just flings his hammer at Bibi Dong & she just standing there like :O. BUT they don't even show the entire fight scene - I really wanted to see Tang Hao put Bibi Dong in her place, she is way too arrogant.

And am I missing something - the fight between the 9 soul poison guy, 9 soul sword guy & rong rong's father with the 9 soul chrysanthemum - how is it that those 3 people didn't absolutely destroy him. It's literally two - 9 soul's against one - 9 soul. I feel the power dynamics is a bit strange. I also felt the same way when Bibi Dong didn't even bat an eye and was able to stop all those powerful douluo masters. Like I understand she is powerful but she should still have some difficulty or maybe even a scratch against all those people.

I do have VIP - but I got busy in the last few days where I was unable to really indulge in watching tv lol. But I did finally finish it.

I don't see anything wrong with him doing season 2 as well - it's just I have rarely seen people reprising their roles for the 2nd season. In most cases they will get an entire new cast, probably because it is easier & more cost efficient. But of course this is just my speculation - but I know even Fight Break Sphere the main lead is not coming back & he is also quite famous. So, from that I am just thinking maybe they won't. However, I wouldn't mind if they replaced the character played by Xiao Wu - I felt her acting was too 1 dimensional & didn't add any emotion to it really. I agree with that also - like a whole new cast & just Xiao Zhan remains will be weird. But from the last few episodes they might not even bring back most of the 7 devils because they kind of went there separate ways.

Well for me, I feel no matter how great an actor they can't save a project if the story is just bad. So, in the long run it depends mostly on the screenwriter. I preferably did enjoy the story - but sadly I know some people who watched the actual anime did not. Which is normal because a lot of people don't really like adaptations compared to the original. But I would have wished they focused more on Xiao Zhan's character - it felt at times he was a supporting character compared to being the main lead. Which is weird because the female lead had so much screen time & she really played no part in the actual story line.

Omg, I also really liked the last 5 episodes. Mainly the entire arc where they were in the Martial Soul Hall was absolutely perfect. Like the mystery portion & the last battle between schools was great. However, I was kind of disappointed they didn't show the fight scene with Tang Hao & Bibi Dong. Like I was so happy when he threw the hammer & she fell back - I was like YES someone please put this arrogant chick in her place. She really annoyed me thinking she was better than everyone else - I mean I understand she is powerful but she just started taking advantage of everyone.

Yup, no romance would be great. I still don't think Tang San & Xiao Wu have any chemistry. And just think her always clinging on to Tang San is a bit . .. . too much.

I just don't know if Xiao Zhan would even want to do a Season 2 - after all he is an actor & he most likely wants to try different roles & not the same one he has already done. I mean in the end, it is his decision. But this drama was a low budget drama from the beginning - and from it's success I am guessing they probably made a good profit from it. I kind of hope they change the actress for Xiao Wu - she seemed really stiff & never really changed her face besides for the cutesy look. Rong Rong was a better actress than her - but maybe XW will fix her acting for season 2 or have less scenes with her in general. I kind of feel like the production company for DC forced many scenes with XW that was just unnecessary - I mean it could be that during the time the actress for XW was popular & was hoping she would carry the drama.

Yea, I sometimes wonder if they filmed this drama post-XZ success if they would have changed how much time they gave the other cast members. Sadly many dramas tend to rely on the success of certain actors/actresses in order to gain momentum for their projects. OMG, yes I just watched episode 35 recently & damn Master is fit as hell. But I was kind of laughing because I was like - was this scene even necessary lol. It was just eye candy for all the females watching the drama lol.

I got soo busy this week that I didn't have time to finish the drama - finally started it up again today. Up to episode 36 - but I am really enjoying the dark element of Martial Soul Hall. It gives a very spooky vibe - I am really liking it so far. From the few spoilers I have seen, I think they said like the romance element is literally at the end. So I guess I will see it once I finish lol.

Omg! Douluo Continent actually got a 3.05 for drama prosperity index!! It broke the 3.0 barrier.

With Xiao Zhan leading the actor contribution with 61%!! :)

I just noticed Ou Si Ke's outfit (mainly the hat) does change when he levels up lol. His entire outfit/power is so ridiculous that u miss that small detail lol.

That is very true - there are some people who just look younger than their actual age, it's some kind of sorcery lol.

Well I also heard about the season 2 rumor - apparently it was at a Tencent press conference where they stated there will be a 2nd season. Which I am okay with but depending on who stars in it. I don't know if I will watch it if Xiao Zhan is not in it - & I kind of hope they change the female lead as well. I just feel compared to the other cast, she was just significantly weaker. Everyone else did such a great job so her weakness as an actor just showed even further. Of course not her fault since she is new but I think they should move on from her since I looked at her bio & seems she hasn't had much acting experience since then.

I feel Master would be considered more of a main cast - he had a lot of lines & was also always there. I feel like he should be 3rd on the casting but could be my bias because he is one of my favorite characters lol.

So, glad they didn't put romance in between them - I feel like there wasn't really much chemistry between the 2. Like Tang San had more chemistry with Hu Lie Na than Xiao Wu.

I don't even understand why people think it's a "flop" - it literally tops every chart out there. So, if that drama is "flopping" than which drama is a hit? Because I have only seen one other drama break the 2.0 on DataWin but it is still only 2nd to DC.

Xiao Zhan finished filming his last drama back in mid-December. There were reuter photos of him filming something in January - but no one knows what the project is. They believe it probably is a small role like Cai Ding from Heroes in Harm's Way (but this is just speculation about the role). I think he enjoys doing those kind of roles because it helps him learn more as an actor.

There are also strong rumors that he is going to start filming starting in mid-March. So, don't worry we will get more of his dramas. He is well sought out as an actor, even though he just started acting like 5 years ago. Most actors usually do take time off in between big projects - but he started filming even back in January for a role.

AGREED!!! DC doing this well even though it's broadcasted at a time where everyone is busy with school or work. Just speaks volumes though!!

From the post's I have seen it seems to be 10 pm - so a much better time slot. Always thought the noon time was weird so grateful they got a better time slot. Now more people can actually watch it.

I don't think anyone is deliberately trying to be harsh - I think it's really them wanting to talk about what displeases them & having someone join them in the conversation. For example, I dislike Xiao Wu so I would love for others to join me in the conversation about our hate for the character lol. So, I don't think anyone is malicious about it - I just think they want to share their point of view & see if anyone agrees or disagrees & just have a conversation about it.

I have talked to some original novel/anime people & most of them seem to be nice people & kindly shared their thoughts. I just think they were disappointed by the vast differences - which is okay to share with others. I like to hear what they dislike & why. Like you, I have no intention of getting into the actual novel/anime but still would like to understand what changes were made & how many. Of course, I really enjoyed the drama but I know others might not but it's always fun to talk to people who share different opinions.

Just in, Douluo Continent is already going to be re-broadcasted on CCTV on February 27. Hasn't even finished airing the first time around - and we already getting a round 2. The sucess is really showing for this drama. No station would broadcast a drama unless there is a demand for it :)!!

Yea I feel the Wolf got butchered with all the censorship they made it go through. It kind of lost what made it the Wolf because of it - like you could see where exactly they took out the supernatural element.

Ahh, well to be honest I have watched some C-dramas where the person would be 15 but look like they are 25 lol. So after a while I feel like I just have to let certain things slide lol. So, I probably will just overlook it because age wise she would definitely be a lot older - & there are some people who act like 5 year olds but are actually in their 20s.

At this point, I feel like they shouldn't even touch the romance aspect in season 1 & if they do make a season 2 - just try to look at the criticism from the audience & try to fix the script according to it. Hoping they see what people say & fix some of the characters for season 2 & some of the annoying traits.

I just hate it when she says "no, I will go to" - whenever Tang San tells her that he will go alone. Like go away!!! I enjoy any scene where she gets knocked out or just can't talk anymore. Her voice is just . . .ugh.

Omg I love the Master & Headmaster ship. They were so cute together before that lady came & just ruined everything. Like she came in like 10 minutes & is already all over Master - & the Headmaster is just silently watching & getting sad because he also likes her. Just ruins the relationship between Master & Headmaster - like please go away lady, your making things awkward.

According to DataWin - because of Xiao Zhan's traffic Douluo Continent is doing amazing. It has hit a 2.0+ on the data index since its release (the first drama of this year to get 2.0+) - it's almost double the other dramas on the list.

If you see the booting ceremony pictures of DC - they have a tiny table with a banner. It clearly shows they had a small budget & they never intended for this drama to be a hit. If they did - they would have invested more money into it from the beginning. The only reason they even got more money afterwards was because of Xiao Zhan's success.

So far this drama has been topping every list - :D!!
