That could be true about accomodating the male lead more - since I think it will probably revolve around him more. While I think the novel was about the female lead - hence the name of the novel being the name of the female heroine lol.

True - but I feel novel fans always tend to be very critical (speaking from experience lol) so if it has the same name they will assume it should be like the book. And probably be a bit upset by the changes - which could ruin the experience of the novel readers. Of course for passerby fans/star fans they won't mind as long as the story is good.

Xiao Zhan is officially announced :D!! So it is official he is in this role as the Male Lead.

I guess we don't have to be secretive about it anymore lol.

I was wondering why the drama name changed from Zhu Yan to Yu Gu Yao. Apparently it's because the drama is based off the novel Zhu Yan. However, the drama will not be a pure adaptation - it will have some similarities but overall a completely different work. Hence the name change to Yu Gu Yao.

They probably didn't want the readers of the novel to believe it would be an adaptation & decided to change it so no one would have that expectation.

And of course let these people give us a recording of the play :D. Like maybe allow Tencent to air it.

The fact that he has been working on this since last year is just amazing. Especially since so many thought he didn't have anything lined up - just shows how wrong they were. He did have work but just kept quiet about it so it wouldn't cause him any issues.

Omg did u see the pictures for the theater that this play is going to take place in? It is absolutely beautiful & the chairs have swivel function so the audience can grasp every detail of the play without having to hurt their neck in the process. The whole thing just looks absolutely amazing - I really hope we get some video of it :/.

The thing that is amazing about Xiao Zhan doing the play "A Dream Like a Dream" is because Hu Ge played this role before him. Hu Ge is a super popular actor that played patient #5 before Xiao Zhan took the mantle.

Theatre critics gave positive reviews for Hu Ge's performance. He even won an award for his performance in this play in 2013. To top it off he is super popular as an actor - he garners 70 million+ fans on weibo.

So, the fact that the production company of this play decided to have Xiao Zhan play patient #5 really shows that people believe in his acting capabilities. I am really happy that professionals in this industry have noticed his abiltiies & are giving him the opportunities he deserves :).

I know we are upset but like @GBR mentioned - let us not mention other artists name on this page. It will be misinterpreted by others & just create more fan war & we don't need that.

Let us have faith in Xiao Zhan's team - and let the people who spread malicious rumors about him get sued in the civil law suit. It is what they deserve - but let us not mention artists. After all just because there are some bad apples that follow a certain artist - that has nothing to do with the actual artist. Let us be the bigger people.

If possible - could u delete ur post so it won't get used against Xiao Zhan. It would be really appreciated. Not trying to tell u what to do of course but just hope u can understand that this could create an issue that XZ and his fans probably would prefer to avoid.

Might have to wait forever with YoYo lol - since they only have 8 episodes & I have seen them already. But maybe I will try Viki - they tend to always have good subs.

No wonder I got so lost with the plot sometimes lol - didn't understand most of the things that probably were happening.

Another day of me coming to this page & then leaving due to disappointment.

I hope it is true! I really want to see Xiao Zhan playing that kind of role & plus him dressed in lighter colored outfits :D

I absolutely love the chemistry between the female lead & male lead - it just seems so organic!

Btw, if anyone is watching on iQiyi - have u guys noticed the subtitles seem to be a bit off? Or is it just me?

Really happy he is doing this. It shows that he is really serious about being a better actor & proving his worth in the industry. And the fact that he was chosen to be a MAIN LEAD is absolutely amazing - because they don't really need a famous actor to play the lead. The drama in question is already super popular & can sell tickets without his name added to it. So, they clearly saw he had talent in acting & chose him to play this role.

Hope we get to see it though. Heard the director of the play saying he will consider a dvd of the performance - so maybe if we are lucky!
