I don't think Zhu Yan was ever ill intended but just overimpulsive. And I can also understand that Zhu Yan is the type of person that Shi Ying would be attracted to because of her freedom. Shi Ying is like a locked up bird that has long forgotten what happiness was and freedom. I can feel the emotions that Shi Ying has for Zhu Yan and how it makes him happy to see how free she is. Like a yearning to have the same.

I respect ur perspective and trust me I think u make valid points but people are different and I just can't get myself there just yet. Maybe as episodes progress my opinion will change or I will look pass those things but I tend to dislike characters that are overimpulsive. Its just who I am - I have always been that person that doesn't understand the reason behind those sudden decisions because I rethink everything I do. Multiple times. But I do agree those things had to be done in order to move the plot but it doesn't mean I can't dislike it u know lol? We all like and dislike different things or people.

Oh, I agree. I think Shi Ying falling for Zhu Yan is also the issue - but like people say that is the whole drama without Zhu Yan and Shi Ying than there is no TLP lol. I am just saying how I feel about her actions which will of course differ from how u feel because we have different opinions. U might be able to understand a character better than I do while someone like me just can't.

Agreed. Its like one small event in someones life can alter that persons entire life. No matter how much u want to change it back u can't because that 1 small pebble altered the person's entire life.

Isn't that what a drama should entail though? For people to feel emotions? If we just have pure love for a certain drama than whats the point in it? Game of Thrones had a bunch of characters that I despised and loathed - no one loved every character and that is what makes it great. Everyone picked a side and that is how great tv shows are born. If u aren't allowed to feel feelings for characters in this drama besides for understanding and love than there is no point.
I do get that Shi Ying changed since meeting Zhu Yan but that is unbeknownst to her. Her actions is what I am speaking for (which she has control over) - not saying she is evil like Bai Xuelu but it seems she allows her selfish nature to drive her. It isn't about her only doing wrong but she jumps before she thinks - prime example - the hair situation. She realized after the fact that the reason for why the general wanted his hair didn't seem right but at that point it was too late. And we know what domino effect that had to the plot. Same thing with the coat - she ran to Shi Ying rather than waiting a bit before gifting him the coat. But of course my claim of her dying would end the drama but it was just a statement - I didn't mean it literally but just was stating how I felt after watching all the turmoil. But we have different perspectives which is completely fine as well - makes for better discussions on this page as well. Wouldn't be fun if we all had the same opinions lol

Right? Like once or twice would have been fine but at this point its everytime she breathes she brings upon some new problems to Shi Ying. Like when she took a hair off of Shi Ying - why would u do that? And it was funny because only once she gave the hair to the general did it click to her that OH why would he want it? He wants it for a wrong cause. She couldn't think before that? Now the general knows his secret which in turn made Bai Xuelu know the secret - which of course is the reason why the consort knows the secret. Which is why Shi Ying is in danger. It isnt about the letter part is the fact she always does something without thinking. Like she didn't have to give that coat to Shi Ying right away but instead she could have waited until he finished. Of course she just ran to him. The letter is fine - u can write to ur friend but why would u listen to what the letter says? ESPECIALLY after Shi Ying just got jumped lol. Like wouldnt people be more careful in that situation? It always feels like Zhu Yan is putting Shi Ying's life at risk and Shi Ying has to than rescuse her. I don't think she has done anything to help him (the river scene doesn't count because Shi Ying came to rescue her - he wouldn't have been in that situation if Zhu Yan didn't just go around writing letters to people). THIS! I never understood people who give dramas a 1 because why would I even continue a drama like that? Dropping is always an option hence why I have never rated anything below a 6 because at that point I should have just dropped it rather than waste my time. There are a few works I have rated a 10 because I absolutely loved them but I feel if ur going to put time into something its good to find something u love rather than something u despise.
MDL, I feel has been a site where the ratings don't really dictate how good the drama is. A few people can sway the ratings into great or bad (too small of a sample size). Its funny I was also debating on if I even wanted to stay on this site anymore - the fun I had when I first joined isn't really there anymore.
