I tried to like Zhu Yan but I don't think I can. She has her moments where I think she is developing but other times it seems like she is backtracking from all that development. Hoping she gets better but for now she is my least favorite character.

From what I gathered at tht time Shi Ying wasn't in love with her and all he thought was that she could be his calamity. So it was best for them to never have contact with each other again because he thought they would never meet again - she would leave. He didnt think she would come back for apprenticeship. So it was best to burn the handkerchief so he wouldn't have to even think of her. If he still kept it - it would just be a constant reminder nad like u said to erase any connections because of the High Priest found out he would definitely kill her.
When Shi Ying offered the cup of tea to Professor Snape - u could see him crack a little. It was like he finally saw Shi Ying as a son rather than someone he can use to exact revenge - and Shi Ying telling him to live for himself was so sweet. I wiished Professor Snape actually let go of that hate because when he looked at Shi Ying it really showed that he cared for him and he wanted what was best for him.

I think ur right I think sometimes at the moment u will say "never again" but if a project speaks to u than u tend to forget that and just want to take it head on.
I am just glad he will still take on period dramas because I am one of those people that think Xiao Zhan just looks amazing in costume and it would be a shame if he just stopped filming them. And his last 2 dramas after TLP were both modern. But the film Condor Heroes gives me hope.

Completely agree. Like I am still surprised at how much I love the drama lol. The plot was cohesive and smooth and nothing really lacking. Even all the supporting cast members were interesting - I tend to be horrible with names and supporting cast member names I tend to never remember. However, I actually know their names because they had an interesting story. Kind of makes me want to watch Sunshine by My Side because I know WDB is a script that Xiao Zhan picked himself and wasn't forced to take. So, out of all the scripts he picked Sunshine by My Side so it must be very appealing - just wished they came out with a trailer already.

The High Priest is a hypocrite - best way to put it. Even though the beliefs of a priest is to not get married, take the crown and all that he still wants Shi Ying to become emperor and get married (the emperor must marry someone from the Bai clan - it is tradition). He thinks if one of the Bai sisters becoems his disciple they will grow to like one another or grow close enough that Shi Ying will want to marry her. He is stuck on getting revenge because he loved Shi Ying's mother that he forgot the oath he took.
