Sadly it isn't just Xiao Zhan fans that do that - MDL has started to become a place where fan wars happen a lot. If u go on any page for a specific drama - and write something against one of the actors (they have to be popular) chances are u will get backlash. Some of my other friends on MDL actually would tell me how they were getting attacked by fans because they said they didn't like how they acted - nothing disrespectful but just criticism. I know people think its just Xiao Zhan fans because there are a lot more of them so it becomes more obvious in the comment section because haters are just all over the place but other fans are doing it as well. Those comments just get dragged down because there isn't as many as u would see on a Xiao Zhan page.

I remeber I was on a drama page a year back and people in the comment section were just bashing Xiao Zhan - he wasn't even in the drama lol. Like not a supporting or a speical appearance. Nothing to do with him. And at that moment I realized - people are going to hate on MDL pages regardless of anything. The site is no longer the place where we can just have casual conversations. People are going to disuade viewers, compete and say how great their drama is compared to others & just be overall mean. MDL was good in the beginning but too many people making backup accounts just so they can downvote and be toxic. Its like its a competition to see how low people can go.

I think XIao Zhan has gone back to its normal self these days. He tend to have fun and does a lot of in-depth interviews like he used to. I think 2021 and parts of 2022 he was a bit guarded - which was understandable. But he has gotten a lot better at it. Which I am glad. His warm personality and his insight is what I love most about him.

I felt the same way. I feel like she is growing on me or I can understand her situation when they kind of explained it. That she isn't from a refined tribe like the others but they seem to be poorer compared to others and don't have as much magical powers. So, it makes sense why she isn't the polite princess like everyone else and can be a bit out there but she still is kinder than the others

I am actually cool with him not doing xianxia (not my favorite anyways) I was just afraid he didnt want to do any kind of costume drama since historical dramas are techncally considered costume and I always wanted him to play a general or an emperor or something like that lol.

I think he will be able to open her up because I think she feels inferior and that is why she does the things she does. She wants to be someone but her circumstances prevent it or maybe it is because of her circumstances that she wants to be someone - to prove people wrong.

Lol, I love how everyone is now callign him Professor Snape 🤣🤣🤣. Even people in China are calling him that. But yea I think he most likely will end up with her - just hoping he knows who is good and who is bad and doesnt just pick loyalty.

11 is going to be crazy I think because in the teaser Shi Ying gets poisoned by the poison they mentiond in episode 10. The one the General has - its supposed to kill anyone who takes it and supposedly has no antidote.

Wait so Professor Snape says the General guy brought in a poison - so he could kill Shi Ying for being the crown prince. And in the teaser trailer for episode 11 he has that poison - dude really poisoned him? I thought he was better than that. Hope it wasn't him.

I find Professor Snape a bit of a hypocrite. Dude was in love with Shi Ying's mother - couldnt marry her but still loved her after so many years later. U would think he of all people would understand the importance of marrying the person u love rather than being constrained to marry someone out of duty.

It does - I am really enjoying the disciple training part which is at episode 10 lol.

It is hard to not have expectations lol. I have tried not to but fail and hence dramas that I was expecting to be GREAT I go ehhh even though if I watched it without any expectations I probably would have liked it.

I am a huge Xiao Zhan fan - so I know I have a certain bias to him but he himself said he welcomed criticism for his works. After all criticism helps a person grow and become better as an actor - if all people did was say how great someone was they would never improve. Its with all works . However, what I don't like is when people start disrespecting him (I know u didnt I am just saying in general lol). And I think, sadly, a lot of people can misconstrue a statement from someone and think they are being disrespectful rather than just being critical. I don't think majority of fans want to be hostile but they also want to defend what they like - so they might see something as disrespectful even if the author didn't mean it that way (of course some are just being plain hateful). I think the people who are hateful just ruin it for those that just want to have a rational conversation with people because now guards will be up for fans after all no one likes reading hateful words towards someone; especially someone they like.

I feel like I went on such a rant - sorry about that lol.

Rofl Xiao Zhan is definitely the best looking person I have seen in costume - looks like an anime character to me that came to life lol.

What is wrong with Bai Xue Lu?? - I understand her poor background but she kind of taking it a bit far. She just cared about a hairpin while her sister was about to die and everyone else as well. The general guy just jumped in after her and everyone is telling her that the hairpin is the cause of it all - but of course in typical selfish manner she decides that her quest to become Empress is more important than her own life + the 3 other people.

I think the drama gets to the good parts at like episode 8+. Personally xianxia dramas are my least favorite genre for the reasosn I mentioned before lol - just too much stuff being thrown together all at once lol. But usually when I watch them I would fast forward a lot also at the beginning because they kind of mention a bunch of stuff for understanding characters such as the immortals and the demon clan and such (probably the reason i never understand the story because I fast forward that part but its just so boring lol).

As for the hype and build up - I think anything with Xiao Zhan gets a lot of hype which in turn makes people expect a lot more and expect way above compared to other dramas. While dramas such as Destined which didn't get that much hype will surprise people when the story appeals to them. Its like when people say you should always have low expectations going into things because when u have high expectations nothing will compare to it. For me that was Avatar (the blue people movie not the airbender lol) - went into the movie thinking it was the best thing since Chocolate Chip cookies - came out thinking it was not worth the hype at all. So I can understand ur perspective - expectations can really change how you perceive a movie/drama. But have fun watching :)

I think that is the case for most xianxia dramas though - they tend to all have the angst and how 2 people who were destiend to never fall in love do fall in love anyways. I have seen a few xianxia dramas and they have the same kind of template. I tend to never be able to follow them because they just keep flying new names and new kind of immortals and they just all go over my head lol. On top of that its just reincarnations after reincarnations. I think TLP does a better job at that where the plot is more understanding and enjoyable. My take lol.

I think people who watch xianxia dramas just love the PAIN & suffering that happens in the drama lol. Since all xianxia's are know for endless suffering and lovers dying or something along those lines.
