I personally don't mind the SML. All his actions make sense to me and he's not over the top at all. And the FL's actions also make sense; she's dealing with a lot and given her background I can completely sympathize with her. She's also unexpectedly smart and strong at critical times, which makes me like her more. The SML has been her friend their whole life, and I think he's so attached to her because of that, but he's not evil or sneaky or a jerk.
Also, the ML and FL's chemistry is SO GOOD, all their scenes are magical.
About to start my re-watch. I've been trying to watch other CDramas but nothing is working for me. Has Shadow Love ruined all other CDramas for me??? :-(
I just finished to episode 8 and can't wait for next week! This show is still so excellent. I'm also enjoying the cooking competition, and all the food, and the science behind it, and the chemistry between all the characters. I love the friend-relationship between Ji Yeong and Gil Geum, they're so cute together! And I love how the chefs in the royal kitchen are all working together and supporting each other. I even like the Chinese chefs! I like how they're portrayed as honorable and flawed.
Still impressed with Lee Chae Min's eye-acting. He was a happy accident casting-wise. He makes the tyrant king seem cute, which is so strange. How does he do that???!
