I had a hard time until ep 8 (like you) but now I'm obsessed (through ep 19).
It builds.

For example, POJ was addictive from the first episode and then kinda rushed toward the end. I still loved it, though.

I feel like this one set a slow, steady, strong foundation, and now it's all coming together. I extremely invested (but only after episode 8).

From the trailer, it looks like after.

But from her perspective, it makes total sense that she wouldn't love him before. Marrying him (or someone of his status) must seem so far out of the realm of possibility, it likely hasn't occurred to her that he has feelings for her (at all). PLUS, his family ended their betrothal years ago; she has to feel some resentment about that (if I were her, I would feel resentful toward him-- about that-- for the rest of my life).

for the people at episode 20, how did ya'll survive episode one ?🥲
I teared up a few times, esp. when the 10-year old died first. It was ROUGH.
And I wish I could tell you it's easier after that, but there's a lot of sadness in this show (so far).

Where are you watching trailers so far in advance? I only see teasers up to ep. 24
Right???!! It makes me think that the plot won't be slowing down anytime soon (which is exciting). I can understand why Lanxiang is so upset (being forced to marry him without her consent/by imperial order/without him asking her parents). I wonder what his motivation is (beyond wanting to marry her for selfish reasons).

I thought the same thing LOL! I love how quickly he stood and escaped the front of the room so they were bowing to no one/nothing, then stood at the ready to help her dad stand up. That was priceless.
