Just my opinion, don't kill me with mean comments, -- but I enjoy watching dramas on Viki so I can instantaneously…
I have to agree with you on all your points. Since I am much older (1949) I have watched civility, politeness, courtesy, and kindness be compromised to the point that we are 2 degrees from becoming an uncivilized human race due to the invisibility of social media. I have learned to "SIFT" through many comments and read and enjoy the meaningful or just-for-fun comments and leave haters and rude people to their feelings. Some good people comment on MDL and I look for names of people who are regular reviewers or commenters with an elevated sense of fairness and quality in their writing and comments. People like you need to make meaningful comments so that the trash-talking folks will not overwhelm or discourage others. A room full of intelligent people will always outshine the idiots.

These MDL comments sections are getting worse and worse everyday...
Just my opinion, don't kill me with mean comments, -- but I enjoy watching dramas on Viki so I can instantaneously comment (especially since I am watching alone and I'm a judgemental type of person). The comments give you the feeling that you are watching in a group setting so you can say things like "That dress is too short" or "That man needs to get a life". Since you can't comment while watching most dramas there is a tendency to comment after the drama on a site where there are other viewers in the hope that others agree. It generates interest or non-interest depending on the comments or the person reading the comment. With a good drama, the comments are important and connect you with other readers. I don't view them as worse or bad unless the comments are out of context or generally doing anti-fan or hater-type stuff not related to the drama but to the actor or actress. That is why I don't read reviews that are less than 6.5. - If you hated something that bad - why did you watch it? Let others form their opinions on whether to watch or DROP. Just me - and I am not trying to start a debate or anything. MDL is also a connection - site. People do connect through comments -- good or bad.

Great article and have already typed the list on my phone so I can check regularly for the release of these dramas. Thank you for being concise and informative at the same time. I love C-dramas and I spend a lot of time trying to identify what to watch or what is popular so I can sift through the large amount of released dramas that are on numerous streaming sites. Reviewed some of the comments as well for other dramas and I have to repeat a comment about Lost You Forever part 2. One of my favorites in 2023 and even decided to read the book. I prefer to wait until a drama has at least 10-15 episodes out then start checking ratings and opinions from from MDL commenters. Love this site. Don't have to surf for drama choices.

What a magnificent article -- a flashback to the old MDL that we all knew and loved. Excellent writing and just the time it took to compose this detailed article is commendable. My favorite feature is the challenge to self-analyze my 2023 -- Here goes:
1. How many dramas did I watch in 2023 - minimum 62 (don't log in the short dramas or 2-3 hour YouTube dramas I watch on sleepless nights).

2. Country watched the most - China (43) to conclusion

3. Watch Romance historical Wuxia, Crime, Splice of Life - anything well done and recommended by others.

4. Top dramas with 10 ratings (only): Starry Love When I Fly Towards You Imperfect Victim Destined.

5. Top drama not on the list - Imperfect Victim 10-- many of my 9.5 not on the list - Faithful, Scent of Time Forbidden Flower Love to Hate You

6. 2023 slowed my drama watching down - lost concentration because of a lack of originality in some of the dramas but overall I am reducing drama watching in general.

7. I wish "unreleased", "banned" or "shelved" dramas would be released for the enjoyment of the viewing public. I always love to see the ending credits when 30 or 40 people who worked diligently on a drama are standing together celebrating their work of art. Always disappointed when I hear one person's action could cause the cancellation of a production.

I just cried. A great actor and I keep asking myself -- what is wrong with a society that persecutes anyone for drug use? Are the Netizens happy? Are the mindless commenters happy? Why Why Why? Especially to the point of public condemnation and scorn. A great one was lost in Korea and the entire society needs to use his death as a reason to change the law and how users of drugs are treated. Once exposed not easy to walk back from its use. Treatment is the only solution and that is the only new story we should be reading in the future. Condolences to his family and friends who loved him beyond any faults in his character (why God made erasers) - why we need to look at our sins before condemning others.

A wholesome drama but stretched out to the point you would consider dropping several times but can't because you want to know the ending. Loved it until the end. I called this the non-hormonal drama. --- smile smile smile.

thanks. I will add it to my list.

This was a weekend binge-watching drama and it was very good. It did have the overtones of a Korean drama except the strength of the relationship was stronger than the angst of the parents in the end. Loved the sweet ending (anything else would have been unpredictable). I always remind myself -- there is so much you can write or expect to see in a drama about romance. Loved it more because the FL was a daddy's girl to the bone. The stories are repetitive and the endings seem to be repetitive but the viewer can enjoy a good weekend romance novel - without having to read 300 pages.

This drama was 100% intriguing and challenging. The director and writer captured all sides of the conflict and an acceptable ending was had. The role of the lawyer in a male-dominated society and the sacrifices she had to make to protect and seek justice for both of her clients were amazing. I loved everythng about this drama and highly recommend it as a required viewing for every young teenager, college student, and young adult to prepare them for challenges they may face in attempts to fulfill dreams. Both for men and women - the word "no" must not be suppressed.

Loved this movie; Great action and coordinated fighting scenes. The comedy dialogues were cliches but still funny coming from different superstar characters. Enjoyed my movie break and recommend if you are not looking for a perfect movie but one just to entertain. Jackie Chan -- never ages.

One of the best dramas I am currently watching. The female attorney is an excellent actress and she is truly no pushover or to be underestimated. Love this drama and the explanation of the legal system. On episode 20 can't wait for more translated episodes.
On When I Fly Towards You Jul 25, 2023
Exceptional drama and extremely entertaining and even tearful (not sad - but happy tears). If every romance and relationship had the depth of love displayed in this drama I truly believe the world would be the happiest place to live in. The writer and editor and director really did well gave it a 10.

This line is what makes me wonder why people even form opinions based on negative folks' comments: "Although there were negative comments about the casting,"

I was raised with the following philosophy ----
If I can not say anything nice – bite my tongue and walk away. I will always have the opportunity to come back and have a more thoughtful discussion later and a reflection on my thoughts.

You can never take back thoughtless words that you are very likely to regret later.
TOP deserves respect for all he has done in the past and any mistakes he has made in life are why God sits in judgment -- not man -- we need to use our erasures to move forward and give him confidence to restore his career and enjoy his life with the same adulation he shared before his mistakes.
On Here We Meet Again Jun 10, 2023
I finished but was ambivalent about overall rating. Started slow, picked up, and was addicting, then as the final episodes were executed the drama seemed to fall off the cliff with trying to write an engaging and interesting conclusion. The FL became more and more childish while the ML became more and more mature. There never seemed to be a balance in their relationship. There is a hint of intimacy between the two but you never feel it because the storytellers need to create angst between the two to drag this drama out for 32 episodes. I am a major Bin Bin fan and as usual, he carries the drama. He needs better roles to highlight his talent such as the drama Rattan.
