Krist upcoming single "Sleepless" posters indicates that this song might be the OST of this series. (Prim picture in the second teaser poster, old stuff, clock in the third teaser poster). So the series probably one of 3 series that will premiered next month.
In the first week of August, 3 slots will be emptied and new series will be premiered, Monday-Tuesday (starts Monday August 1, if doesn't have any specials), Wednesday-Thursday (starts Thursday August 4) and Friday (August 5).
It's normal that Thai casts and crews work on 2-4 series at the same time.
You are right that normally GMMTV doesn't let the lead shoot 2 series at the same time, but from Covid-19 let to many series has been delayed, several lead actors now have to shoot many series at the same time.
It's normal that Thai casts and crews work on 2-4 series at the same time.
I'm not fooling anyone. - 55:15 Never Too Late is a 16-episode series, which means it used around 25-35 Qs (aka days) to film. Thai weekly shooting schedule has been divided into 3 periods, Monday-Tuesday, Wednesday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday. If the series is rushed, they can combined 2 periods together to make it 4 or 5 days. From the detail I received, the series was shooting 5 days a week, not only 5 days. For Newiee - You Are My Missing Piece is currently shooting and will be wrapped soon as it is going to air on August 5. The director (Plammi) uploads IG story on the shooting regularly. - Manee Morana is shooting. You can see from his co-lead Bua Nalinthip instagram's story. He sometimes posted the ig story with the cast of this series. - The Warp Effect is not wrapping up anytime soon as the series only shoots 2 days per week and has been shooting for only a month, but Jojo is going to work on both The Warp Effect and Midnight Laundry (new name of this series). - Dong Dok Mai has been filmed since the begining of 2022 and according to the director it doesn't wrapped up yet.
Eclipse it one of my most looking forward to show of GMMTV this year but from what i heard it will come closer…
The Eclipse is around 50%. The shooting is late because the late shooting of astrophile and My Precious. The series supposed to start shooting in April but instead they started in May. Moonlight Chicken and My School President is in workshop process. Moonlight Chicken will start shooting in July, so it won't be ready till at least October. Never Let Me Go is delayed, it was planned to release on Mon-Tue schedule on September, but then changed to Sunday and from Jojo (director) schedule, the series might be shooting around Quarter 4 and has a high chance to be postponed to next year. You Are My Favorite is also delayed due to Chris schedule (he's going to work as a host on The Star season 14 and play in a theatrical production produced by Scenario) and the script hasn't been finished yet.
It's normal that Thai casts and crews work on 2-4 series at the same time.
The leads have no exception. Last year, Nanon worked on 55:15 Never Too Late, Bad Buddy and SLR at the same time and he was the lead of all 3 projects. Newiee is currently shooting 4 series, 3 of which he is the lead.
I agree that this series is really bad with lackluster writing and long episodes and Astrophile is a lot better…
I disagree about VIU series on prime time. From my experiences, the series targeted Gen Z, like VIU originals, if airs on prime time, it will received lower rating than 10 PM or 11 PM slot (aka late night). GMM25 is also a free TV. As I said in my earlier comment that channels that target Gen Z normally receives lower ratings. This actually causing from changes on Gen Z media consuming behavior. - Gen Z are mostly working late at night so they arrived home around 9 PM, which is late than prime time. - Generally, Gen Z watchers are watching the series after it aired on TV, because TV cut of thai shows are censored and is not a full version of the series, the length of TV and streaming cut can be up to 40 minutes different. - The other reasons is that Gen Z watchers don't have TV in their living place, Thai ratings only counted from terestrial TV, it doesn't include Cable TV, Satelite TV, IPTV and online watchers.
is this under GMMTV? coz facebook page of GMMTV is promoting it, although i knew it was from True
The situation of this series is kinda hard to explain, but I'll try my best. This series is not produced by GMMTV, nor True. The novel that this series based on was a part of a competition named "ช่องวันอ่านเอา", which is a contest to find new novels to adapted to be One31 Lakorns or series. The series is developed by a production team of One31, but for some reason it was instead will be aired on TrueID (True4U's OTT service), which created a lot of confusion to many watchers.
Does anyone know if there is an English translation of the novel?
Sorry, there isn't and it will be pretty hard. This novel is published within a small publisher, which printed this novel in limited capacity (even I cannot find a print of it) and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have enough money to hire a translator for the book.
Some shows don't deserve hypes because of actors popularity and this show is one of them. I was so looking forward…
I agree that this series is really bad with lackluster writing and long episodes and Astrophile is a lot better than this one. (Warning: You wouldn't like Astrophile if you don't like slow-burn romace series)
The ratings in Thailand is depend on Channel you premiered. Primarily, channels that target rural watchers like Channel 7 and Workpoint, Gen Y audiences like Channel 3, Mono29 and One HD or focused on News like ThairathTV and Amarin TV are tend to have more rating than channels that target Gen Z viewers like True4U and GMM25, or specific channels like ThaiPBS or T-sport. For the prime-time slot. GMMTV, which target Gen Z audience, should know better that prime-time is not a good market to play and Gen Z audience usually arrived home around 9 PM. If GMMTV want a good rating, they should change their showtime to around 10-11 PM, which Channel 3 tried with its series that target Gen Z audiences (including My Coach) and it's working.
Am I the only one who think that this might be a period romance drama. The name of the character (which is Thai-Chinese) aren't usual name used in my generation, which often used Thai names, but more like my grandparents generation. It might be identical names to the Thai-Chinese in the area the series take place though, I never been to Chakngeaw Chinese Market before and don't know how much chinese identities and cultures in current generation there.
They can't used the original novel because of copyright issue, the writer lied to the publisher that the novel…
For Not Me, luckily that the production only used the outline since the begining, so they don't have to rewrite the script. Fo this series, they had shot around 20% when they received this news, so it had to take a break to rewrite the new script and changed several actors due to schedule conflict.
So far, this show is a bit better than some other Thai BL from this year. The story moves somewhere and the cast…
They can't used the original novel because of copyright issue, the writer lied to the publisher that the novel was an original work but it was actually a fan fiction, so the screenwriter decided to change the whole story, only used some parts from the novel. This problem also happened to Nitiman and Not Me, but this series is the first to adjusted with this issue.
someone in the YouTube comments said the novel is pretty erotic, i wonder how that will go
Yes, it was. Director of the series, Pin, is also expertise in rom-com and erotic dramas. If you see his previous Lakorn, Mae Bia, it was pretty erotic.
