I always felt it was a plot hole that the wedding goes ahead to begin with. Shiyi is backed by not only the powerful Cui clan but also has Nanchen wang behind her. Once they decided to make Guangling wang regent, he cannot possibly be allowed to marry her bc that would give him too strong an incentive to revolt and overthrow the child emperor. Especially since he is also from the royal bloodline. Zhousheng Chen should have known better and used that excuse to take Shiyi back to Xizhou with him and put off the wedding until the emperor comes of age and takes over and Guangling wang steps down as regent. Until then, he should not be allowed to marry at all. In fact that was the promise Guangling wang made the empress dowager when she bestowed the marriage - he could marry Shiyi if he agrees to leave the capital for his fief.

Haha we will probably end up starting around the same time... if my dinner doesn't take too long...

Yeah the problem is the idols earn so much ad money that that they have back door fan heads that get paid significant amounts of money to increase their traffic. I don't have a problem with cracking down on that but to target "effeminate" idols is well beyond what is acceptable.

Lol - I watched to pass time and the novel is one of my all time favorite Chinese classics that I read many times… Don’t faint but my drama buddy wanted to watch this over One and Only…

It is light and fun but ultimately forgettable so you didn't miss anything. I only watched it bc Hongloumeng is one of my favorite Chinese novels.

Govt "sissy actors" announcement is clearly targeting him more than anyone else but there goes also all the pending BLs as well. I would have been shocked if it aired as planned. To be clear, I think what they are doing is very wrong but when I read that heinous announcement I already guessed it would be pulled.

There are lots of fantastic married actors - Mark Chao, Zhang Ruoyun, Chang Chen, Wallace Chung, Wallace Huo... you'd be seriously limiting your drama universe if you let something trivial like that get in your way...

You are probably right - I wasn't that into the novel I only picked it up bc I was WFH and bored to tears. I just remember thinking - oh no... how is he gonna do those scenes when I saw Ren Jialun cast for it... LoL.

Lol - I think I OD-ed on this stuff in my teens... reading all kinds of romance novels into the wee hours of morning with a flashlight under my blankets... I never got into the entire genre again but I make an exception for historicals bc I just love costume.

Lol... I never finished it, I only read about 2/3rds of it and I didn't bookmark where I stopped so I won't bother to go back to it.
