I finished fourteen episodes. I am confused how Xiao Ming Ming ended up in the novel or drama plot. Is he, the…
While I don't like how the AI/game plot was written (esp the cringey dialogue OMG), I do think its hilarious how they are mocking the recent trend in the fantasy genre (esp in gaming) where the hero is invincible and has many cheat codes and other means to beat the system.

The first few episodes are a bit iffy but by episode 7 or 8 it gets good if you like classic wuxias.
I don’t rate anything until it’s over but I think so far 8 is fair.

Is it just me, or does Cheng Yi’s character feel kinda annoying sometimes? Like, he’s the protagonist but…
This is a bit of a Don Quixote plot where he is on a mission to revive chivalry and righteousness in the martial world. I quite like this kind of story and how it’s told.

I started liking this show only to be annoyed by the writing and direction of the lead actor. Cheng Yi can act…
I agree that he seems to be struggling to get in character in this drama. I have seen much better from him and it doesn’t help that he is out acted by Xu Zhenxuan, who is simply killing his role. I remember this to be a controversial production where he had some injuries during the fight scenes. Maybe he is on some serious meds and distracted. As for the plot itself I think apart from the AI related bits, it’s getting more interesting as we go along. Classic wuxias can meander a bit that is why the genre hasn’t been popular in recent years. It is taking the time to illustrate how internal divisions and in fighting and a loss of the righteous spirit is undermining the sects in Daxi and playing into the kingdom’s downfall to Beihuang.

You'll find out. Not being facetious, just don't want to spoil you.

I don't understand how Qu Hanshan got his hands on it. Did XQS have it all along? I think I may have missed something.
Ah ok - that makes sense, tyvm.

Did anyone actually read the novel tho? It's an old old novel (from the 70s or 80s?) i think there's literally…
Hahaha - my dad certainly did but he doesn't remember it anymore.

It was a very convincing frame job though ;-; At least he thinks XQS genuinely was tricked (much like XQS thought…
It was a good frame job indeed. And Tang Fang just stood there for so long when she was a witness.

Li Chen Zhou was sick? But the fight with crazy yan didn't show him getting hurt. So maybe he did but didn't show.…
I thought it was bc Tang Fang's father told her Crazy Yan cured him the first time bc he felt responsible for his injury. So I just assumed he had to be the guy Crazy Yan flew away with.

Am I the only one who thinks the fighting scenes from CY should all be in slow mo so we can appreciate how it…
Well you can always play it at 0.5x speed on the iQiyi app. But in general c-drama fans hate beautiful slow motion fight scenes - that is why Sword Snow Stride was panned in China.

I like this idea better. Qs Tf being lover is a lil... I don't like that. As I was rooting for no romance, I feel…
This adaption could change things around of course but unlike Jin Yong, this wuxia novelist rarely gives any of the couples a happy ending. So I think its best not to get too invested in any of the romances. His wuxia heroes are usually lonely. I didn't read this novel but I have read quite a few of his other works.

Please kindly add a spoiler tag cuz some haven't reached that point of the story... 🥹
Just report the comment as a spoiler, which it totally is. MDL will cover it if more than 1 person reports it. I already did.

I believe that crazy Yan flew away with Tang Fang’s father. That is how he got so badly injured and his daughter is now looking for Crazy Yan to get him/the codex to help her cure her father before the rest of the Tang clan stages a coup against him.

LSF is clearly a remnant of the Baihua sect that made the evil Marcching Pill. They were wiped out by the righteous sects led by the Xiao family. LSF was just a kid then they didn’t kill him they just locked him up. That’s how he met Tang Fang as a kid.

Will ML will marry his step sister ? I have this question because I don't want this cringe idea to take place…
Don't think so. Tang Fang seems to be his love interest. And knowing this writer (but not this novel), at best they have an ambiguous ending.

How can they make one of the most geogeous actresses in China (Gulnezer Bextiyar) look both old and pretty at…
The camera is incredibly cruel. She just looks her age, it is unavoidable. So does Cheng Yi (35) when he is shot next to Xu Zhenxuan (23). Real life tip: always stand next to someone older in group photos.
