On The Legend of Xiao Chuo Oct 6, 2020
Both the Promise of Changan and Renascence are pretty much the same story. I skipped both of those because I think/hope this one will be much better because the FL role is played by the strongest actress of the bunch.

Hello, no one discuss about Gu Feng'En? I was like damn it!
You mean misguided and tragic? I have no more emotional energy...

Many novel fans believe it will follow the tragic ending if you refer to the lyrics of the OST.
Heheh, if that is the case I will start to look at what you are watching too! :)

Haha TROP can be very addictive... I cyber stalked Chen Kun for ages after. RN is actually on Amazon Prime so it is unlikely to get to Neftlix - the subtitles there are ok, Dramacool's is better. You can ping me anytime on anything I have watched. Enjoy TROP! :)

Can anyone tell me why it's have a sad ending, i want to know the ending before watching it so please tell me
Its a tragedy but if you stop watching at 60 its an open/happy for now ending but you won't know what happens to a few key characters.

ROP is one of my top 3 dramas so to me, this is not as good. Both are about unfavored princes but Ning Yi is cunning and ruthless and most of the time he wins. This crown prince (CP) is sentimental and not ruthless enough so he often loses or wins with heavy casualties. They are almost opposite characters. RN is a sad drama with some stunningly beautiful moments and writing that the translations don't fully capture. I personally think this was inspired by Prince Qi's of Nirvana in Fire's story - the prince that is a threat to the emperor because of his popularity and connection to a powerful general.

OMG really?! No wonder there were no new episodes released yet. So sad, this already is airing SO SLOW :(
Its Golden Week starting on Oct 1 - China is on their biggest national holiday. This is on MangoTV which is a broadcast station so of course they are going to stop airing for a week as most people travel during Golden Week. And yes, China is traveling again domestically since they have virtually no more cases people don't even have to wear face masks around anymore.

That's not how face masks work but ok
I think so too and I enjoyed it at first. But it went on for way too long and even after he was already busted as Wuxie - it just no longer made sense. And so close to the end too.

Yeah I think they delved too deeply into Meibao's backstory but Angelababy is not the right actress to play such a complex and nuanced role so the anime characters actually were more effective. I liked the anime story better as well and I knew what was going to play out once I watched it. The whole SS or whatever she and her brother felt towards their stepfather wasn't that well researched. They should have stuck more closely to the murder mystery and not explored the character stories as deeply.

I don’t remember where anymore but it came up on briefly in a conversation. It was much more heavily implied in the anime. Her behavior towards her stepfather does not at all to me seem like SS so if she had it, it must be strictly in the past, possibly when she was supposedly in love with him.
Wow I am completely floored by the Jiang Zisuan actor Wu Lipeng!!! How did he do it?!?!? I am so impressed I keep rewatching him. Every micro expression is to a T Zhu Yilong's Wuxie. Every little expression, every mannerism... even the way he gazes at people... even the way he thinks... I immediately knew it was Wuxie every moment I watched him I saw Wuxie. That is really AMAZING, meticulous acting. Wow! I have no words...

Handsome Siblings and Dragon Sword Heavenly Sabre are two classic wuxias by Gu Long and Jin Yong, two of the most famous wuxia writers. They are dubbed but you could also check them out. TRoP is awesome - Chen Kun and Nini are amazing actors and it is not dubbed. But it is mostly a political drama.

Try Ancient Detective even though I think it i dubbed. While I prefer original voices it is rare and only very recently becoming more popular... If you don't realax that criteria there are slim pickings. I don't consider it a wuxia but if you haven't watched Rise of Phoenix, you should.

There are obviously missing parts which I expected but overall, the story is there. I guess we just have to agree to disagree wrt the novelist. I tried to read the book, esp the end. I didn't enjoy the writing at all - it is a numb mindingly detailed style that just doesn't translate well to drama. While there is some beautiful literary and classical prose, overall effect it is confusing, overly detailed and overly depressing. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed the last 12 -like I was watching a different drama. Tbh, I was expecting more of the same with the last 12 but it is better and more clearly written although it stayed true to the novel. I truly believe if they never involved the original writer, this would have been a huge hit so I have no time for her histrionics. The writer is that super annoying person that we all know that after the fact tries to say I told you so or if you listened to me... I have no time for that. To me, the emperor was the best acted role and most consistent character from start to finish. I am a huge Luo Jin fan and I feel sad to say this because I can tell he really tried (too hard) but... his acting (crying) just wasn't that great.

Yeah sorry the person that did such a a bad job in the first part is complaining bc they got sacked that they could have done it better in the last part... I just laugh bc that is someone that doesn’t get it that the ending was better because they were NOT INVOLVED.

Apparently CP would have lived if the script had continued to be written by the novel’s author. https://forums.soompi.com/topic/420451-mainland-chinese-drama-2020-royal-nirvana-鹤唳华亭/page/71/
Ugh! Why??? She already wrote the character into having a really terrible life and then dying tragically in the novel, which I believe is what the ending is broadly faithful to. In fact, let me remind you the writer is the reason why EVERYBODY DIES to begin with. That is how she wrote it. Now that the drama was never popular because it was so depressing and sad, she is waffling because she realizes maybe she should't have been so cruel to CP - indeed the only person who treats CP worse than the emperor is the damn writer!!! And don't forget she is the same troll that attacked the actor for the emperor because he actually half carried the show but she didn't like his more empathic interpretation. I would respect her more if she sticks to her guns and goes with what she intended to begin with as much as I like HEA. But ty for some good info, I finally realize the reason why I actually like the last 12 episodes much much much better is because they booted her from the project. And I think the ending is really well done even though I think it is sad. It does leave some slight room for views like the one expressed by@Crystalcandy below. Wouldn't give the time of the day for how the writer would have done it differently because I am quite sure it would have sucked. I put her on my do not read list.
