I watched the first 4 in the original German with subtitles and it really gave me a better sense for the characters even though I don't know the language. But subtitles are really hard for me after I read off a screen at work all day so I caved and switched the audio into English. The dubbing is extremely well done but I wish they had used English/European instead of American voice actors. Its a complex show maybe watch a few with subs and then go for the (American) English version.
If you do watch it, make a timeline from the get go. I had to go back to rewatch just to plot it out. Eyes roll... yes I know, you have to do work but what do you expect of a German production???
Depends on what you mean by exposed. This is one drama where everyone knows she's doing bad things throughout…
Don't I know!!! My dad fractured his ankle last year and to speed up his healing we had to give him this powder which was mashed up cockroaches with some kind of Chinese wine. We never told him what it was and I still feel like such a bad daughter. Esp since I am terrified of cockroaches. The no one question I ask any helper I am hiring is whether they are afraid of cockroaches... You know the Asian ones are particularly terrifying they can fly....
It certainly looks like it. I can't help but be dismayed. I mean Liu Yikang is such and interesting character an so is Yixuan. And yes, even Luyuan... why does this have to get dumbed down into a harem cat fight? And we have such a great actor Qin Hao who is MIA. I want to see him kick some serious butt with Lige. Like the A team working together. Instead I feel like I am watching one of those super sleezy girl vs girl mud fights. Ugh! No wonder this was a short lived kingdom - the barbarians are at the gate literally and all they care about is in-fighting. But I will keep watching bc I want to see both Luyuan and Shen Liqing beheaded.
sometimes I find Hua Min Chu to be slightly annoying. For are 'smart guy' he doesn't seem to think before he says…
A bunch of episodes got cut which disrupted the flow. But yes, the romance was never well developed. Keep going it all makes sense at the end and the ending is great.
Yeah I stopped halfway ep 26 in disgust. I got nothing to watch but I am nauseus I am taking a break. Its mostly me, I loathe palace harem I don't knowingly watch any of it... I feel tricked! I know its the way of the world but everyone already give women a hard time. We don't have to do it to each other or at least if we do, I don't want to watch it.
At this point it is over-used. They should have said this is Yanxi Palace part 2. I expected to watch an intelligent. political drama with some good action not a bunch of bitchy palace women try to tear each others eyes out.
It is a tottal kill joy for me... my main work app is black mode.. But am glad others enjoy it. Just something funky has happened with the font color in the search box, its now in black against dark blue. Can't see a thing.
Can't disagree but that is the character to a T, true to legend and mythology... hot tempered, rash, acts first…
LOL - I am not sure either but many of the Chinese gods are like the Greek gods - they have as many failings as they have virtues and powers. He is supposed to be very powerful and there are several (contradictory) myths about him.
