Honestly that JX is just a CREEP. Seriously. This whole arc is spoiling the show for me. So many complain about how JC is " old" etc for LX but seriously is JX just a creepy and he is at LEAST as old as JC. Worse he has that oily butter won't melt in my mouth kind of double entrende laden tone in all his words. If LX is not smart enough to get it and be creeped out I can't like this chick. The fact she started out weak and namby pamby love struck adolescent like was bad enough. To fall for a total creep like JX is just like I want to barf. Even if her mom dropped her on her head when she was a baby its no excuse for such bad tase in men. I hope this awful part ends soon bc this is just like killing this so far up until now pretty good show. This show which was up till now a 8-10 range for me is now crashing into the 6-8 range for me.

I agree it’s been erring on the slow side but actually there were many, many very slow parts in TMOPB too but the love story was so intense it kind of magic erases it from your memory. Hasn’t quite happened here yet but there is still time so finger still crossed.

The ending has many mystical aspects so it is not very clear to me as well - some of this is just what I think happened. Daji and Zi Xu became very intertwined towards the end - she pretty much lost her battle with evil and that is why Zi Xu says that he and Daji are one and the same. Remember she sold him her soul in exchange for her revenge which by then was almost complete. I think its quite key that Daji threw herself in between King Zhou and Ji Fa because she wanted to impale herself on Ji Fa's demon slaying or heaven sword. By sacrificing her life you could even say that she also kills the Zi Xu, who is the evil within her. Jiang Ziya tries to deify her and Zi Xu by making them star immortals but Daji rejects the investiture. The other immortals beg Ziya to intervene to try to save her but Yang Jiang surprisingly accepts that this is her wish. Jiang Ziya explains that she is deeply remorseful for her wickedness and regrets that she can never go back to being Yang Jiang's Daji again. Yang Jiang asks Jiang Ziya where she went to and he gives a cryptic unclear answer that implies she still exists somewhere. My best guess is that somewhere is either only in Yang Jiang's memory or some kind of time warp where she is still Daji before all the bad things happened to her. Yang Jiang finds her "there" in their old home and she is the same Daji in very beginning episode giving food to the poor (but she stands alone). She speaks to him and asks if this is all a dream. It is how she wants Yang Jiang to remember her - back at home and once again the innocent, kind and happy girl she once was. It is a happy sad ending.

That's kind of true but actually he is so intertwined with her that he just chooses to perishes with her. She refuses to be saved or immortalized and just goes back to some amorphous time warp place or trapped in Yang Jiang's memory before all these bad things happen to her. Tragic.

Maybe that is the official excuse but all the plot changes were weighted in the early and not late episodes. The rest was compressed into 4 episodes and I suspect that large chunks of the empire toppling battle scenes were cut because the ending actually was decent not rushed or sloppily edited. But if that was the reason they should have just renamed the thing something else like you said and just put the whole thing out there.

Thanks for the color, That makes me even happier I dropped. You have much more patience than I. I would have surely rated it a 1 or zero if I had to go through that. I don’t like this actress I thought she was also bad in White Snake which I dropped.. A show with only 17/63 good episodes just doesn’t deserve such a high rating it is super unfair to shows that are good from start to finish. I would have avoided it had I know. That is what is wrong with all these super high ratings that mislead people who don’t have so many hours to waste.

Thanks for this - I had heard good things but I think I will pass given what you wrote. While I think this site is pretty great, I wholeheartedly agree with your observation about the grade inflation in these reviews. There must also be positive selection bias because only people who like the dramas bother to post a review. I hate it when all I see are 10s, I have seen enough of these dramas to know that they can't all be 10s. I always read all the low rated reviews but skip most of the high ones.

Yes I agree, this was truly terrible and everyone who says its like TMOPB should be arrested.
