Right? I wished they were better written. You described their motivations and grievances perfectly in your review…

Title Fated Hearts
Does this show count as a wuxia series? It doesn’t say so in the description, but when I started watching it,…
I don't consider it a wuxia at all. Its way too game of thrones and its not about the martial world at all.

I enjoyed reading this. And I agree, the antagonists were mostly cartoon villains.

The Windy arc was full of hot air!
And fully agree with this: I guess the special sauce that’s missing for me is that emotional impact after the drama ends.

It’s not bad but his line delivery could be a lot better. That is one reason Chang Huasen is stealing the show…
Could be but I skipped most of his dramas after WOH so I can’t say for sure.

Am I the only one who likes Gong Jun’s voice?
It’s not bad but his line delivery could be a lot better. That is one reason Chang Huasen is stealing the show - they are about on par with each other acting wise but Chang Huasen is being voiced by a professional VA that has done a terrific job capturing the characters duality ambition vs the desire to do good.

Anyone know why the Chancelor stalling the eunuch time at the royal tomb? What is his role there? He initially…
The chancellor is a a custodian of the law of the land but he doesn’t involve himself in factional infighting. Why would he taint himself by meeting with an assassin? SMY was trying to figure out who summoned him to the capital and it immediately was obvious it was not the chancellor. The chancellor stalled Zhuo Qing bc he knew there was a fight in the capital and he wanted to make sure Zhuo Qing does not involve himself. If you watched DY you would know Zhuo Qing is very powerful. The chancellor made sure Zhuo Qing not set one foot out of the mausoleum, where he is supposed to stand guard until he dies. He isn’t interfering or taking sides per se, he is just making sure Zhou Qing stays where he is so posed to stay.

I suspect that Ruofeng may die in Blood River but I don’t think SCH or SMY have anything to do with it. As SMY…
I don't think Lingchen ever really knew or cared what his father did. After all, YWJ was just a woman and a pawn, no one else ever called out what happened to her except Baili Dongjun when he told off the emperor. Lingchen was probably just a toddler at the time.

TBOY begins at the 20th year of Mingde. Ruofeng was executed in the 16th year of Mingde. According to Youku's promotional material Anhe Zhuan is set 10 years after Dashing Youth. So we should be roughly around the 13th year of Mingde at the moment.

Ruofeng prevented YDZ from rescuing YWJ from her wedding to his brother. It ruined for me this image of the honorable Prince Langya. He just became another entitled prince who thinks its ok to force an unwilling woman to marry his brother when he could have just looked the other way and let YDZ escape with her.

The character who you remember to be better in TBOY should be Xiao Lingchen, Ruofeng's son and the next Prince Langya. By the start of TBOY Ruofeng is already dead for 4 years, executed by his own brother. And yes, the emperor in the end gets his karma as well.

Sama sama here! So many characters dat my kepala pusing with the music🤣🤣
The chart was very helpful in one way: TLC right in the middle and everyone scattered chaotically around him. Tells you all you need to know about what kind of drama this is.

He should be Xiao Se’s brother. Xiao Se is the 6th prince. His blind brother in TBOY is the 2nd prince.
Ruofeng in TBOY is played by a much older actor. Bai Shu plays his son Xiao Lingchen in TBOY, who inherited the title Prince/King of Langya.

I somewhat agree. We have already 8 episodes out and somehow in those seven-eight hours they managed to give us…
Yeah so far, TLC does not seem that different from TTJ to me - a misunderstood demon with a different perspective of morality than humans. LYX is great at these roles but he plays them all the same way with the same mannerisms. As for the grand misunderstanding it has danmei vibes and was dramatized and dragged out but at the end of the day, its quite a straightforward one where just explaining himself would have gone a long way to avoid all the drama. It looks like in the end its a mystery around there is a drug that is being used to control the martial world. Totally agree with you wrt making us bond with the characters - so much time in the narrative was wasted trying to make everything seem super mysterious that they didn't build the characters properly so that we are invested in them. I didn't even get to 8 I got irritated at ep 5 and decided to put it on hold for a day or two before trying again to see if it gets traction with me.

I already knew from the Chinese titles which introduce Prince Yong as 大皇子or literally Emperor's eldest son. They probably translated it as First Prince or something like that. Xiao Ruofeng's title is 琅琊王 or King of Langya although it was probably subbed as Prince Langya which is not incorrect but in this context King would have better clarified the fact that he is a the emperor's brother and Xiao Yong's uncle. In any case, during ancient times when men had many wives, it is not unusual to have nephews who are the same age or even older than their uncles.

ep 16 was so fun! all the fights were very exciting
At this point I honestly don't know how they are going to top those action scenes.
