Sorry, but when it comes to Namping, I don’t really see it that way. Just because his character is softer, more…
For me, a great example of a sweet and kind character that is not stereotypically bland or a doormat is Chay from Kinnporsche. That boy had a level of emotional maturity, sense of self-respect and ability to set boundaries that the other characters more directly involved in the mafia could not even dream of. Also his emotional honesty and genuine heart really had Kim silently going insane, becoming wrapped around his little finger. I would like to see more characters like this whose emotional intelligence is their strength.
it’s crazy to me that this isn’t the biggest series airing currently! The level of this is incredible, but…
It is definetly a really well-made show. Still, I also understand that a political period drama is not everyone’s favourite genre. The film critic in me is enjoying this a lot, but it’s not inspiring me to read/create fan fic or fanart like for example Kinnporsche did. I guess it is a casual enjoyment versus hyperfixation kind of thing.
I'm enjoying Keng, but Namping not only looks like Coeathert, he's also playing a role as bad as the ones Coehearth…
A masculine guy with a feminine guy does not make the relationship any less gay, just like a guy with a masculine girl would not make a relationship any less heterosexual. I have yet to start watching the show so I really cannot comment on individual characters but I think the problem is often that writers refuse to give more feminine gay characters deeper characterization. BL actually would do well to have more femme characters as most couples are masc for masc but the issue is that the creators don’t seem to know how to write them well, so they end up being doormats with no agency lol Also sometimes in romance shows or books, whether gay or straights there is often the problem that one character is written as a thrist trap and the other as a self-insert for readers. And self-inserts are usually notoriously bland, like Bella from Twilight etc. I need both characters to be interesting in their own way to enjoy a romance story.
This is so well done. I definitely feel like the directing for this series is great. Also, with the casting. The…
Yeah it is so weird whenever there is a show that has characters in important career positions and the actors are like 19 or 20 or something😂like I’m supposed to believe a teenager would be a doctor, leading an investigation or be the CEO lol
I’m one of those people who actually wishes actors would not come in pairs. I absolutely adored Kinn and Porsche,…
I have no idea about any of the social media drama around actors. I just watch series that interest me. If they like to act exclusively together continuously that is fine, as long as they don’t do it just because the industry requires it.I have personally noticed that I cannot get immersed if the same combination of actors keep playing new characters together. In the case of Shine my problem is also that since Kinn and Porsche were so iconic Trin and Thanwa just do not mesure up in my mind. I wouldn’t even dream of being involved in social media drama trying to ”break up” actor pairs, just the mere thought of being involved in something like that gives me anxiety :D
As a sidenote, with Be On Cloud I’m particularly not a fan of established actor pairs because they only release about 1 series a year. Next year will be Jess and Bible again with 8 hours and if the year after that is Mile and Apo again it feels like it’s just an endless loop without any variety :/ for me it is really sad if all the BLs/queer shows from BOC just focus on these two actor pairs. It would be more tolerable if they did more series but so far their trademark has been 1 per year. So therefore I’m left wondering when will there be a BOC queer show that does not have MileApo or JesBible as the leads? Maybe in 2035 XD
Guys...HELP! i read people saying that shine's the last project of mile-apo together...is it true? Pls confirm...…
I’m one of those people who actually wishes actors would not come in pairs. I absolutely adored Kinn and Porsche, but I’m not feeling Trin and Thanwa , so I guess the same actor combination works for me only once. It would be nice if Apo and Mile will act together with other people. It is sad though if they can only do straight roles without each other. I want to see more queer shows from Be On Cloud but with different actor combinations.
i'm still in shock at how two actors who are 28 and 36 years old, who have spent their entire acting career in…
I mean portraying queer characters is not rocket science or anything. If they are able to play straight characters well I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to do the same with gay characters unless they were very homopohobic or something.
I am goingg to be honest. GMMTV might not have the biggest budget for their shows but their stories are the best.…
GMMTV is indeed very popular with straight teenage girls who love cutesy, fluffy, simple and campy stories. I’m not sure if I would every use the word ”interesting” in the context of GMMTV BLs though, they are all so formulaic and juvenile (Not me is the best they have come out with) Shine,Kinnporsche and a lot of danmei dramas etc. are more popular with a more mature and queer crowd due to more complex characterization and storytelling that relies on the viewer being able to use their brains and figure out what is going on themselves without everything being explicitly explained.
Ok - am I alone in this or not? I know two actors sticking together in Thailand and acting again as a couple in…
I actually really feel you on this one. Maybe it’s because I come from book and anime/manga fandom that I’m used to new characters meaning new faces. All of the characters in Kinnporsche worked for me and I was able to get immersed because I had never seen the actors in anything else before. If I see the same actors as new characters the spell is broken and what is left is just two actors performing. This can be a dealbreaker if you are a character-focused person who craves full immersion in the fiction. Being like this is hard in a society that subscribes to celebrity culture haha. I’m actually waiting to hyperfixate on a book or an anime again so that I can engage with material that doesn’t break the fourth wall XD I’m still considering to watch Shine once the episodes have aired, but only for the plot because I would probably not be able to enjoy Trin and Thanwa. They would either feel like Mile and Apo rpf or a really twisted and wrong version of Kinn and Porsche lol but yeah I was glad to know there are others who don’t like the trend of having the same actors act together multiple times.
So I guess it is not serious, dark and gritty in tone like I wanted. Why must GMMTV do this to all of their shows😫Not everything has to be soft nd fluffy romcom, give us some proper dark romance dammit😬the style and vibe of the original pilot were so promising….
I was wondering the other day whether Jeff saying that HE will air at the end of this year or early next year could be a mistranslation. Perhaps he said it will start filming around that time? The schedule is not adding up😅
too much was happening, the couples, the lore and everything and yet it started to be boring... I love ZeeNunew…
I’m with you regarding the AI vibe. I feel like this is exactly what the result would be if you asked ChatGPT to write a royalty BL drama for ZeeNunew😂
