I started reading the novel to understand the plot better and shit turned out to be much heavier than I expected…
Yes, Huaien's age wasn't mentioned in the drama and I assumed he was older than Xiaobao. So I was surprised that he was younger in the novel. Tho, I've always thought of him as older and more mature than Xiaobao, even while I was reading. Lol
I am loving this(I skipped the rape part for my own sanity,I won't acknowledge that scene, damn I am that desperate…
I skimmed through the SA parts in the novel as well.
Although Su Yin cares for Xiaobao, I do not think he is attracted to him. He sees Xiaobao as a weak spoiled kid and his responsibility as his father is indebted to the Jin family. I feel like he wanted to control Xiaobao so he didn't have to worry too much about being responsible for him. Xiaobao actually causes him a lot of stress that I feel sorry for him. Lol.
As for Xiaobao being gay for Su Yin? I don't think it would have happened. First, Xiaobao is a playboy and has always been after women before Huaien came along. Him and Su Yin grew up together so if he was inclined to get attracted to men, it would probably be with Su Yin. Second, the main reason he was enamored with Huaien was because he initially thought he was a girl. And even after they got together, he would still peek or glance at women which infuriated Huaien. So if Huaien didn't come along, I think Xiaobao would still be chasing girls. Haha.
Si Ming, the divine doctor is like a toned-down version of Huaien. Not sure why he helped Xiaobao and Huaien get back together. But I'm guessing because he can relate to Huaien. Or he really wanted Jin Bao that bad. Lol.
I’ll repeat: “This movie did no justice to the book, many backstory are cut off from the drama and it makes…
True. I started reading the novel to get context of whatever they were talking about since the subs are quite fast and I really couldn't follow. Reading the novel will help the viewers understand where the characters are coming from, their perspectives.
I understand that the creators of this drama has several constraints, budget and runtime, among others. So it may not bring the full novel justice but they are trying their best. And it's more than okay for me.
I want to watch this series, can I know your opinions about it? I will watch it anyway, but I also want to know…
It is quite good. The first half is light and funny. The romantic development takes time but somehow realistic, like they didn't just fall inlove right away. There is a story arc that is somewhat frustrating but I am sure they'll resolve it by the end. Oh and they can act!
Well more than that I am drawn to his character. Korn has my sympathy. I can feel the pressure and him trying his best to be a good son albeit doing something shady or against his will. Tho we're not yet sure he's one of the good guys, but for now, I am rooting for him.
