I'm the exact same way. How a show makes me feel at the end of it is important. Very important. And that feeling will weigh heavily on its rating.
That's how Lovers affected me. It was refreshing to see a mature, adult romance manifested on screen. I'm in my 30s so the teenage/young adult stuff with all the childish interactions & mooning don't really cut it for me. And for once the female lead didn't bug the daylights out of me. She was sweet, but most of all sensible.
One quick eg there's a moment when she's unemployed & the hero pulled some strings (or rather strong armed someone LOL) to get her a job. Most other heroines would have gotten mad & complained about him interfering, but this heroine said something that felt very authentic to me. She thanked him & said jobs are hard to come by these days so she's grateful for any help she could get. For me, it was such an adult, rational thing to say rather than trying to exert some false sense of independence. I've been in situations where I've struggled to find work & if someone made a referral on my behalf I'd be grateful. It was overall just a great show. I love it & will always love it. I can't guarantee it will be the same for you, and that's fine! We all have different tastes! :) All I can say is give it a go & see if it's your cup of tea.
The main genres in Lovers are crime/drama/a dash of action & romance, all of which I like. If you're not a big fan of these genres, you might not enjoy the show. I enjoyed the gangster storyline, it felt authentic to me & Lee Seo-jin is great in his role as the badass fearless leader of his crew. And yes, although the ending is a bit rushed, it's happy. Otherwise I wouldn't love it as much as I do! :)

What is your language? Italian?
Korean screenwriters just generally don't know how to write a satisfying ending. They almost always botch the endings of otherwise good dramas. It was still a fairly decent show, though.
What has you excited now, if anything?

We Caribbean folk are all mixed up anyway. LOL But that's the beauty of our society despite other problems. In the Caribbean people from all races/ethnicities/religions have been co-existing side by side for centuries without much strife. Not many countries can boast such a legacy.
My dad is British American too. He was born in the US, but his family came from England in the 40s & 50s. My great granddad is a Scotsman, my granddad an Englishman & my paternal grandma is mixed. I think she has roots in Africa & Germany with a dash Jewish. While my mom's side of the family have traced their heritage all the way back to the time of the Arawaks.
Anyway, I think it's lovely how drama brings us all together! :D

Stumbled across your mini review of Lovers on somebody's profile. How are you able to rate a drama you skipped most of & where you hated its music an 8? :)

I don't think it was him.
I think it was just a homage to who he was in life. And perhaps an attempt to ease the pain devastated fans may feel by giving them false hope that he actually survived. It's so patronising it's like throwing a dog a bone. I hate when they insult their viewers like that.
Fact is, imo, he is DEAD. You had Jin Sook dressed all in black at his funeral/shrine which suggested he was cremated. And perhaps the most damning evidence of his death are the 2 little kids waving at Mi Soo in the park before disappearing. This suggests Doc & Gyung Mi has reunited in death. It's just an all round horrible ending. It never should have happened. Korean screenwriters just generally don't know how to write a satisfying ending. They almost always botch the endings of otherwise good dramas.

I already answered this question on feed.
As for the kiss scene from When A Man Loves ... THE most hilariously dreadful kiss scene I've ever seen. They didn't even bother to try & hide that they were acting. There goes any hope of me ever watching this drama.
P, it's been confirmed. There's a happy ending in Queen of the Game.

Well who could blame you if the story was otherwise chicken sh--. Thx for the info.
Started up with Smile, You again just for the laughs. Today has been a rather trying day so I needed it! It's so nice seeing Doc again, alive & well, albeit in an entirely different role! :D

I am not surprised by anything you said re IHYV. Saw a trailer of it & was not interested in the least. I knew this drama was just pure hype. Moreover, the lead female looks like that guy's mother. No thx! But hopefully it will grow on you more once you pick it up again. :)
I prefer personal journeys more than universal good vs. evil ones so I don't think I'd enjoy A Man's Story. Most people didn't seem happy with it anyway and for once I think the low ratings may be justified.
I'm glad you were affected by Journals. So was I. What touched me even more is that this is based on a true story. Very powerful & deeply moving. My kinda film.
Today I was feeling particularly stressed so I resumed watching Smile, You for the time being, just for laughs. Every time I look at Doc I still can't believe it's the same guy from CC. The roles are so completely different!

That's awesome. I grew up in Brooklyn, but spent many summers and even 1 full yr of high school in Jamaica. It's different when one of your parents, esp when it's Mom, is actually Jamaican. The culture then becomes more influential to one's development. I haven't been in Jamaica in years though. I've lived in Europe the past 12 yrs & have only been back home a couple of times. My mom & dad have been over to visit me though. Now I think I want to move to South Korea so a trip to the islands isn't on the horizon! :) Do you get back to Jamaica any at all?
You have an interesting nick. Is it derived from the Japanese movie of the same name?
How come you haven't listed any favs?

You got it! All of a sudden everyone starts acting completely out of character. A top undercover agent & an excellent marksman who never misses his target gets shot in the heart without so much as moving a muscle to save himself. AND with a second gun - Hyung Min's - pointed at the shooter. #SMDH
I want to shoot the scriptwriter!

Actually, no, I don't fully understand what you mean. Moralistic in what sense? And is there any romance? This seemed to have been a sore point for many people. I shall look forward to your feedback.
I'm not sure QotG has a happy ending, but if the reviews are anything to go by it looks like it. A friend of mine warned me off it though. Said it's overly melodramatic and the story isn't quite up to par. Basically the only reason to watch it is JJM, according to her. Hot as he is I'm not sure that's enough! Hehe. I'll double check with her about the ending for you just to be sure.

I did see & eventually drop QIHM!
One day I might be convinced to pick it back up! :)
QotG, thx for the head's up. I won't watch it then, doesn't sound like the type of drama I'm in the mood for.
Well, I don't always avoid tragic endings, but where I can I do. It has a lot to do with what I'm going through offline. Due to a personal crisis I experienced in 2010 I'm always stressed & worried about something so I try to stick to entertainment that's more upbeat & positive. My love for cinema is vast & far reaching, though, so there'll come a time when tragedy & melodrama is just what I'm in the mood for, only not now.
I am vaguely familiar with the history of JOJ, but ever the romantic I hoped against hope, silly filly that I am! :)
