Haha. Mad! This article had me cracking up.
After watching Lovers & falling madly in love with Lee Seo-jin I can soooo relate to the ice cream cone problem! Hehe
And omo, WHICH dramas are those stills from problem 10 from? JHC! Someone please tell me! Wow! Wow! Wow! ***fangirlalert***

As for what I'm watching ... it was a struggle to find anything interesting after CC. I started watching jdrama Nagaboreshi out of desperation & because I liked the synopsis. It's not really the drama I'm in the mood for right now, but so far I've kept watching even though I'm not really invested in the characters (yet). I hope it gets better soon. Otherwise I'm thinking of watching The Lobbyist next or maybe Can You Hear My Heart. Everyone says that's a great drama with a sweet romance. Have you seen it? If so what do you think? I also have a couple movies lined up, but I've been waiting for my manfriend to finish watching CC so we can watch them together. He's not that into the Asian addiction so he's taking his sweet time finishing a drama I completed in 2 days.

Ugh, that's EXACTLY what happened in CC. Doc is an amazingly cunning, clever, clandestine type of character! Excellent warrior, yet when he got killed he basically just stood there & let the other person kill him. It was so illogical to the type of character he is! He could have easily taken that bastard down. What's more he had an ally with him at the time of his death, but neither he nor this person was able to disarm the killer before he wiped out Doc. I mean it's just total bullshit! Just remembering it makes me mad! LOL
Anyway, I saw the comment Allyson made about it being an open ending. Trust me, it is not! This is just wishful thinking on the parts of devastated fans based on the fact that an earlier version of the script had an alternate ending where Doc survived. I don't know why that's relevant though when in the drama itself he's as dead as a doorknob!

Hi, me again. Sorry I keep bugging you, but something I've been meaning to ask is how are you able to write such long posts? I see the posts you write to Akumi & many of them are over the character limit, sometimes by 500 - 700 characters (I checked by copying & pasting your posts in a new comment box just to see how long they were!). How are you able to do that? I think most people are only able to type about 1800 words. Sometimes MDL confuses me with how it works. Are you some sort of secret premium member or do you have a high weighted average in reviews/comments/friends/whatever that allows you to write longer posts than average users? It's no big deal, mind you, I'm just curious! :) Come to think of it Akumi seems able to write very long posts as well, even though I have checked any of hers. They just look longer than the average comment I've seen from other users...

Hehe, ok, ok, I will! I'll add it to my queue of movies for this weekend. It's gonna be pure gangster: A Better Tomorrow, Breathless, Man from Nowhere! Nice! :)
Confessions ... that's the latest Choi Min-sik vehicle isn't it? I like him so I'll probably watch it, though not this w/end!
Are you partial to any other actor aside from the one listed on your profile? My latest crush is Lee Seo-jin. He played the male lead in Lovers. You can admire his body on my profile! ;) OMG, the man is so sexy! I just want to pounce on him! Haha

MARS was great! I loved the maturity of the romance. I wish the Koreans & the Japanese would take a page out of the Taiwanese's book in this regard! LOL
Thx for the recs! I saw clips of Love Marriage on youtube & thought it looked very cute. I've heard lots of good things about Chilling Romance - just waiting for the right mood to watch it. Rent-A-Cat, almost saw this last year at a film festival! Good to know it's good. The others look interesting too. Thx! :)
I don't know what you're in the mood for right now, but if you can tolerate a somewhat unsatisfying ending I'd rec Cruel City for sure. It has 1 of the best love scenes I've ever seen in a k-drama & an amazing male lead. It keeps you on the edge of your seat too even when you're rolling your eyes at the absurdity of the plot and/or certain characters. Also you must watch Lovers! You must! If you love a good romance, you must! LOL

Oh dear, ever since I watched Kim Nam Gil in Lovers, I've wanted to see more of him, but I can't find anything in his filmography that appeals to me! I'll never watch Bad Guy or Shark. I hear the endings are dumb. Can't deal endings like that! Had I known how CC would end, I probably wouldn't have watched it, but I'm glad I did because Doc is AMAZING!
Funny thing is before watching CC I was watching Smile, You which stars the same guy who plays Doc. I didn't like him in SY! I thought his character was a little too pussy for my tastes. While I'll probably date a sweet, beta guy IRL, in my entertainment I prefer tall, mean, lean machines! hehe. Then I started watching CC and I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY! I couldn't believe it was same guy! Needless to say, I am now a HUGE fan of him! Haha.
No, I haven't seen Man From Nowhere yet, but I certainly will! It's been on my ptw for ages! :)

Breathless came highly recommended by another friend whose opinion I normally trust so I'm expecting it to be good. I'll let you know.
I'm considering The Lobbyist as my next drama too. I hear it has a nice romance and lots of crime/action. Sounds like my cup of tea, but I'm trying not to have too much of a high expectation. I can highly recommend Padam Padam! Especially if you like Jung Woo-sung! This was my first k-drama. Even though I don't normally like melos, and this really broke my heart, I loved it! A mixture of fantasy/crime/romance.
Omo, thx for mentioning Rondo! It sounds great, adding it to the list!
Yes, I think I'm going to stick with Nagareboshi. I'm already half way thru so there's no turning back now. I'm liking the characters, but haven't developed an attachment to them yet. Hope that changes soon. We'll see how it goes.

Omo, omo, omo! That love scene! The hottest I've seen in a k-drama to date. I want more of those! And actually there's also an equally good one in Lovers. No actual in bed scene but the kiss leading to the bed ... maaad! :-)
So you should really watch it, if you haven't already!
I have another mdl friend who is also crazy fond of melo! I don't know how you guys do it! :)
I can take melos in small doses, but too much of it stresses me out emotionally. A great melo I can rec if you haven't seen it yet is Padam Padam. It was my first k-drama so even tho very much melo it remains a fav! As for genre I tend to prefer action/crime/drama with romance as a common denominator, eps if it's gangster related. I find Asian gangsters extremely fascinating! LOL
I have Wonderful Mama on the list to watch. I'll get to it at some point. Right now I'm watching j-drama Nagarobeshi. So far so good.

You and I appreciate Wanee & Junah pretty much for the same reasons. Same goes for our reason behind the rating. I wavered between an 8 and 7 too, but I finally settled on 7 just based on how the film made me feel. Good, but without any powerful stirrings of emotion.
Have you seen the movie Breathless? I think I'm going to watch that after ABT. I also watched the first ep of Nagaresbi. I like it. The leads look good together. I'm disappointed to know that there won't be even one kiss between them! :(
I hear you on 'I Hear Your Voice'. Somehow, I'm not surprised at all. Have any idea of what you're gonna watch after it?

There's indeed something special about Japanese cinema. And their historicals are the best, I'd agree. In fact, I'd go as far as to say I prefer historicals to their contemporary offerings, with few exceptions (classics such as Rashomon & In the Realm of the Senses). I just love their history & being privy to how they lived in older times.
As a girl I remember watching Oshin with my mom & loving it. It's an older drama, from the 80s, set in post war Japan. It was my first glimpse of life in Japan, a country which, to my young mind, was as exotic as the Moon.
As for Kimura Takuya, oh I love him too! I only needed to see him once, in Pride, to make up my mind! Haha. If you haven't yet, definitely check him out in Love & Honour sometime soon. I'm taking my time going through his filmography just so I'll always have something from him to watch. :)

Good to hear!
Have you seen anything lately that you particularly enjoyed? I've been really lucky, more or less, with the last 3 dramas I saw. I LOVED Lovers (HIGHLY recommendable if you haven't seen it), LOVED the romance in MARS and liked the suspense and characters in Cruel City. I didn't like the story development or ending though, but it was still a good overall experience. Now I'm trying to figure out what next. Nothing seems appealing. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! :-)

P, I see that you've completed Wanee & Junah, how was it for you? I also gave it a 7. What about I Hear Your Voice, coming along? I have only seen all 10s reviews for it so far & I can't help but find myself snickering. I'm thinking 'it can't be that good, just hype', just like when Queen In-Hyun's Man was all the rage last year. I won't be watching it regardless. I don't like noona-dongsæng pairings and or stories.
I'm going to watch A Better Tomorrow tonight!

Well, you could have easily been talking about me bcuz I'm exactly the same way! Sometimes when I know beforehand that a fav character is going to die the blow isn't as severe because I'm able to brace myself, but in general no. I HATE when this happens!
While I did enjoy CC, had I known prior to watching that he'd die I wouldn't have watched it. It is impossible not to become attached to Doc. He's just one of those characters you'll root for from the moment he steps into frame. So it's dreadful investing so much time & emotion only to have him killed off.
What's worse is that his death served no real purpose to the plot. It was just a device of genre. Oh, this is noir so the lead has to die, even though in the context of the story that they told it made NO sense whatsoever that he died. That's what I find most infuriating. And the way in which he was killed. Ridiculous!

Hello there, I came across your conversation with Allyson re Cruel City & felt like I had to put in my 2 cents (even though you didn't ask for it! :).
I think this is a good series. It's not perfect in any way - major plot holes & idiotic cops & villains, but I'm sure you'll fall in love with the enigmatic lead character, Doctor's Son. He's the highlight of the show & the reason I gave it a 7. Sadly, though, the ending will prove to confirm your greatest fear. Usually if I brace for myself for unsatisfying endings I can tolerate them. If you're the same perhaps you might be interested in giving this drama a go.
