Aigooo, you sure are a weird one! So it's not a compliment ... then what is it? Must be an insult. You have warped sense of humour, woman! But I'll let it slide ... ;)
Wasn't overly fond of any of the female leads, but I liked them all. I forced myself to like Kim Ha-Neul's character bcuz what else am I going to do? Either try to like her or drop the drama & I didn't want to drop the drama. I enjoyed Se-Ra's growth over time. I hated her in the beginning. Thought she was just a gold digging bitch, & she was, but we got to see her mature & grow until she finally got her sh-- together. I liked that.
I don't blame your mom, I'd choose Kim Do Jin too! Haha. Granted, he's way too metrosexual for my tastes, but I'm not attracted to any of the other guys & I actually think Do Jin has the best personality out of all of them. When all's said & done tho all 4 of them are immature man-boys!

Well, if you asked me this question about 8-9 months ago I'd say movies, and in many ways it still is, but dramas have completely won me over, esp now that I have a better feel for what I like and don't like. I guess I'll always prefer movies for their artistic potential & shorter format. Generally I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to series, but when I discover one that is to my taste I make the time. Have you watched any Japanese series that you particularly liked?
I haven't watched anything Japanese lately, but some of my favs are Pride, Buzzer Beat, Brother Beat among others. The Japanese are great at understated storytelling! I love that about their shows, though I'm often disappointed by their execution of romance. Hardly ever a kiss & if there is a kiss, it's usually of the fall on your face, accidental variety. God, I hate those. LOL
Yes, niceness! First met him in Orange Days & went on a stalking expedition shortly thereafter. That's how I saw him in Sweet Room. He'll definitely tickle your ovaries in that role, that's for sure! ;)
Can't wait to see him in Sakuran & Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu!
Man, this ending! #smdh Not happy. They didn't have to do that to Doc. He was too smart for that. Even if they…
Thank you for this information, but I wish you hadn't spoiled Time between Dog & Wolf! I was planning to watch it next or really soon. :(

Re: my profile ahjussi ... you have no idea! That's why they're up there. Just one look at 'em abs & it's enough to tickle my ovaries! :) No stress! :)
As for OD, just keep watching. Good things come to those who wait, better things come to those who are patient.

I used a large chunk of my morning yesterday reading your blog. Enjoyed it. I like your consciousness on race related matters, colourism and ethnicity. Kudos & keep it up, regardless of (anon) haters.
I'm also very envious that you live in Seoul. I want to visit so bad & I probably will ... very soon. I'm already trying to find ways and means to make it happen! LOL
I am veeeeery curious to hear about your experiences with Korean men! You seem to have a lot of (mis)adventures with them. I also find it interesting that you actually prefer to date Koreans rather than foreign men. This is only because with all the other Korea-based female bloggers I follow it's the opposite! :)

Oh dear, don't get me started on QIHM! Haha.
I ended up dropping it because it turned out to be NOTHING like what the fangirls claimed it would be. I'm pretty sure had I chosen it of my own volition, it still wouldn't have been a perfect drama, but I would've been able to appreciate it for what it is rather than what I expected it to be.
As it stands people told me one thing about the drama & when I went in it was something completely & utterly different! The disappointment was crushing so I dropped it in frustration. One day I may go back & finish it since I only have 1 episode left, but man that was a bitter pill to swallow. So never again!
I will be wary of Korean crime dramas from now on since they seem to follow a formula in every case that I've heard.
Are you more of a drama or movie fan or both?

Why am I one of the interesting MDL users? LOL Should I take that as a compliment?
Yes, AGD is cool. Those guys are crazy, but a fun bunch. Luckily I didn't know Kim Na-Heul was the main female lead in it otherwise I would not have watched it. I can't stand that woman's acting! Sorry if you like her ...
As for the OST, yes! It's great! I've been listening to Big Baby Driver ever since! So envious of you, that you can watch with your mom. If I lived in the same country as my mom I know we'd be fellow drama addicts! :)
My summer's OK. Business has been slow so things are little calmer, less stressful. I just came off watching Cruel City. A good show, but with some major flaws. Nevertheless I'd recommend it if you like that genre. It has one of the most amazing characters I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Right now I'm at a lost as to what to watch next! Hate when that happens! :(

As for films of mine you can see. When I make one I'm really proud of I'll post it online for all the world to see! LOL
No, but sure, I've made 6 shorts since I graduated film school. 4 of them are crap. 2 are currently on the festival circuit. I'll never show the previous 4 to anyone as a representation of my work! The latter 2 I might consider posting after they're done with festivals, but we'll see. If I do post them, I'll be sure to let you know.
As I gain more experience as a writer/director, as I gain more life experience, as I make more films ... I feel myself getting better at what I do so I do believe my best films are yet to come. That's what I hope for, at least, given my profound love for cinema.
Oh thx for saying you like my oft emotional outbursts, in the guise of being reviews! I don't deserve any praise, but I appreciate it! :)

Oh dear, I try not to be that extreme! Furthermore, when I come home from work I don't want to be immersed in work again thru my entertainment. I love my job, but it is stressful. Filled with lots rejection and pressure to deliver. I want fun (romantic) escapism! :)
But yeah, that's how I explain my Asian addiction too - it's all work related. LOL Problem with me is, when it comes to my work, I don't listen to anyone. If it's not good to me, then it's not good at all, no matter what others have to say.
The last short I did, back in 2011, has done really well at festivals. In fact it's still on its festival run. But I personally think it was one of my worst films. I only continue to submit it to festivals just to get my name out there, not because I'm proud of the film. Opportunistic I know, but having a name people recognize is important in this cutthroat business.

I am that way too! A very emotional watcher. Good characters, good acting can move me & can influence how I rate a show in a lot of cases.
That said, I do work in the film industry so my eyes are perhaps more critical than others. I've also made several short films myself (as writer/director and or producer) so I'm very keen on the entire creative process. Not that I'm an expert or anything because I'm not. I'm still trying to make a name for myself in my industry & I'm still learning the trade, but it does make you become hyper aware of things average viewers either don't care about or haven't noticed.
Actually, you have no idea how helpful watching Asian cinema has been in developing my own projects. LOL My partner, who normally produces my films, claims to have already seen a vast improvement in my writing! I'll believe her when I see the result on screen! :)

Well, my likes and dislikes are pretty much universal, really. As we've discussed before I love both Korean and Japanese offerings equally, but for different reasons. The Japanese always touch me with their deeply satisfying, simpler stories whilst the Koreans are more flashy, more Hollywood. I love both. When it comes to romance it's pretty much even steven across the board too. I want romantic storylines to be plausible and authentic. Preferably with some skinskip & lots of good kisses a la Buzzer Beat, Pride etc. Having said that I have watched shows where the characters barely touched, but the sexual tension between them is off the charts. Aside from Lovers representing the Koreans, all these shows were Japanese. So it seems like I might like Nagarobeshi. :)

Yes, I saw your rec for this movie on the front page! I'm adding it.
Are you still watching IHYV as your next drama or have you switched to something else? I'm still in this weird mood after CC where I can't decide what to watch next. Tentatively, it's Nagareboshi in a couple of hours. What more can you tell me about this show, actually? Is it romantic? I know the Japanese aren't the best when it comes to romance.
Not that it matters a great deal, but I like my romance wherever I can get it. :P
One thing that made me want to watch it is that I want to see how the relationship, the marriage of convenience, pant out. Usually, if done well, these type of stories can work really well for me.

Yum, eye candy? I LOVE eye candy! Hehe
Yeah, I figured I'd like it the minute I saw Joo Jin Mo's name in the cast. Song Seung Hun is pretty hot too, though I've only seen him in He Was Cool.
Speaking of Joo Jin Mo, if you like him definitely check him out in Wanee & Junna and or Happy End. If you're in the mood for a Choi Min Sik marathon, Happy End is a good choice! He (CMS) plays against type here & though a bit predictable, it's a novel experience seeing Choi in a role like this. Moreover, JJM in it ... O.M.G! Same goes for Wanee & Juna. Not a perfect movie by any means, but I liked it bcuz it's so refreshingly cliche free, for the most part.
As for THV, definitely worth a watch, but it's one of those slow, arthouse films so you do have to have the right mood for it.
Oh and another movie I'd like rec you, The Journals of Musan. Great!

I'll let you know when I post my review. That way you can have a better understanding of exactly what didn't work for me & see if it makes any sense to you. It's hard to explain here, given the character limit.
All that said, I did like the show. On American TV crime dramas like The Sopranoes, The Wire, Prison Break etc were always my favs & it's no different here. The only issue I have with Korean crime dramas is that they have an awful tendency of killing off their lead characters! :)
That's actually why I haven't watched Iris. And I probably wouldn't have watched CC either if I were thinking straight! But I got caught up in the hype which wasn't a bad thing in this case, per se.
But, man, I always get burned when I let myself get sucked in by hype! Same thing happened with Queen In-Hyun's Man. Was convinced it was gonna be GREAT, but for me it turned out to be just OK. :)
