Hehe, dunno if it has anything to do with your b-day or not, but it's very good! It's a crime/romance drama and both genres are evenly played out in the drama. One of the reasons I love it so much is because they approach the budding relationship between the characters in a very adult, mature manner. None of that typical school yard stuff with accidental kisses and all that nonsense. LOL
Also something I forgot to mention about Buzzer Beat & Pride is that they're great sports dramas, if you're a fan of basketball & hockey respectively. Lemme know how you like Lovers once you get around to it! :)
ETA: I see you've added Brother Beat. Good choice! That show made me laugh so much! lol

Betty, I finished CC last night. My feelings overall are very mixed. I can say I didn't like the ending. I felt it was very contrived. I just don't think things would've played out that way given the type of guy Doc was.

Kim Nam Gil has somewhat of a bit part in Lovers, but his character is memorable. I've been wanting to see him for the longest while because he's well regarded here on MDL. I wanted to see what all the fuss is about, but I haven't been able to find anything in his filmography that interests me. I didn't even know he was in Lovers until I checked the cast details and saw his name. I really liked him in the show.
As for LSJ's dimples, girl, they will make you sweat, among other things that's all I can say. Hehe! You fall right in love with the guy just as the female lead is doing the same. I see you tend to prefer watching airing dramas (don't know where you find the patience!), but I hope you'll give Lovers a go 1 day soon.

Man, come see me when you're done! We need to talk about this show! :)
Man, this ending! #smdh Not happy. They didn't have to do that to Doc. He was too smart for that. Even if they…
BHO?!
Where did you see that ending? That is not the ending I saw on Gooddrama! I saw that last shot of him standing in the middle of the street, back to us, talking on the phone. But to me that's just a reminiscent pic of him ... the essence of who he was. I did not take it as if he was alive.
WHERE did you see this alternate ending? Tell me, please, I must watch it for myself immediately! :)

Furthermore, that final scene with Min, does that make any sense to you? Two expert shots pointing a loaded gun at him, yet he still manages to reach behind his back for his weapon & discharges it, shooting Doc square in the heart? Is the Doc we've come to know and love that stupid, with such poor reflexes? Not buying it. Not buying it one bit! Bad, stupid ending to an otherwise decent show. lol

Well, it's the night after CC & I'm a little bummed out, as you can guess. Thing is, I don't think it fits with the overall story at all. For 20 eps the writers have totally been winging it. They do things to suit their purposes or the formula of what they think the genre entails, all the while ignoring a natural flow to the story & not realizing/caring how absurd certain things played out. I mean, Hyung Min & his team are totally useless! And for such a terrifying guy like Pusan, his foot soldiers were total incompetents! hehe
The one time they could have justifiably used their creative license to give us a more optimistic ending they cop out on us? I'm calling foul. I'm not asking for an ending wrapped up nice & neat with a bow. I would have been OK with an unhappy ending to the barely there romance & Doc disappearing for good, ever the elusive figure he's been up until now.

LOL, you don't annoy me. Yes, it's still a yes. Probably not as resounding as yesterday's yes, but still a yes. Definitely worth the watch. I'd classify the genre as crime drama, with 'drama' in this context being a genre as well.

Hey, thx for accepting. I certainly have my biases hehe, so I do go for popular actors from time to time, but quality is important. In an ideal world I'll be able to watch all my favs in artistically stellar shows/movies! :)
Anyway, I see from your list that you're a romance fan. Am I right? If so, I'd like to recommend you watch the drama Lovers. I think you might appreciate it. You should also hurry up and watch the Rich Man, Poor Woman special. It was great. Although the romance still left something to be desired, it was better than in the drama imo. And what about these Japanese classics, Buzzer Beat & Pride? Both great dramas!
I just came off watching Cruel City. My feelings toward it are mixed. Wasn't very satisfied with the story & ending, but loved the characters and the pace. It kept me clicking that dial, a virtue most k-dramas don't possess.
Man, this ending! #smdh
Not happy.
They didn't have to do that to Doc. He was too smart for that. Even if they didn't give us a happy end with him & Soo Min together, they could have let him live. Send him off to Japan or China or somewhere, but spare his life!
Heartbroken & devastated! :(
I think I'm the only one who wasn't satisfied with the ending. *sigh* Yup I'm a greedy little drama addict. I…
Save yourself the trouble and stop hoping. There is no open ending. The guy is DEAD. He got whacked square in the heart, Ji Sook & Soo Min in black were at his funeral with Ji Sook speaking to his shrine in the past tense and finally, to quell any further doubt that may linger in our minds, the 2 little kids cheering Soo Min on symbolize Gyung Mi & Doc in death. So as much as I wanted a different ending ... and as much as we want to cling to the hope that he's actually not dead, he's a goner. That last last scene with him standing in the street, cell phone in hand & back to us is just another promotional pic. It's not to be taken as an extension of the show or some sort of hidden meaning. I wish it were different. I'm utterly heartbroken, but there's no point clinging to false hope.
These blasted 'accidental' kisses almost made me gave up on romance in dramaland. Thankfully, I found a couple dramas that got it right & they made me stick around! lol

Haha well technically BF and I don't live together either, but he only goes home when we have an argument. Otherwise, he stays here! :-)
I jacked my computer up to the big screen & that proved to lock him in. Hehe. I like watching with him so gotta pull out the big guns when necessary! Convincing him this time around was surprisingly easy, though.
Now I'm about to watch the final episode while he's still on ep 14. I'm soooo scared Doc is going to die! I almost don't want to watch. I have no idea how I'm going to rate. It depends entirely on how things end.
As for music yes I love the OST, esp the 'You're My Love' song. It was sooo good in the scene with Soo Min & Doc. It expressed Doc's feelings for her really well even though he'll never come out and say it. Definitely gotta find that song.

Yeah, bruv, Doctor's Son he is! Totally badass and charismatic! I'm telling yah ... he's giving Kang Jæ, my other all time favourite male character from Lovers a run for his money! And don't worry I'm sure your wife will forgive you for loving somebody else's show more than hers! hehehe

Man, bettyboo, I LOVE it! It's such a bone chilling, exciting show! Although I wish the romance played a bigger part, the suspense, characters and pacing are top notch! This is definitely my kinda show & Doc is one of a kind. Such a wickedly charismatic character. If he dies at the end (& I have sick feeling he will) I'm going to be so mad and devastated. I don't care how necessary to the plot it may be! lol
Now I can understand your feeling of not knowing what to watch after such an amazing show. I don't want it to end! :)

Hi, I see you're a fan of the crime/mafia/gangster genre like me. As I've already done on your thread, I can highly recommend Nameless Gangster, Cruel City & Lovers (also has a very nice romance plot entwined if you're into that sort of thing). All great! Hope you'll enjoy them! :)
