Well, this is strange. I'm thinking either the show has a happy ending or it doesn't. There shouldn't be any confusion. Happy ending being hero & heroine together at the end, nobody dead or dying. Ah well, whatever. It's actually not the first time people have given me differing versions of how a show ends. LOL! I guess I'll never find out for myself. Speaking of characters that totally sweeps you away. It's Easter holiday here already so I'm taking a break off work for a week (although there's always work I can be doing here at home). Anyway, just started a J-movie called Happily Ever After with Abe Hiroshi. Damn, the man is fine! :-) Haven't formed any opinions yet, but it seems to be a weird love story about a guy who loves turning over tables when he's angry. A few funny scenes so far. Will let you know if the romance is good enough to watch.

That's what I was told by several people who said they watched the show from start to finish (I remember who they are, but won't call any names). I had no reason to doubt what they said. So it's not like I made that up to cover my dislike of Ha Ji Won. LOL, I've publicly declared it on my profile. I'm not ashamed to say I won't watch something because she's in it. I like what I like & that's it. With that said, a number of factors determine whether I watch a drama/movie or not. Ha Ji Won and the other actresses I don't like can be a deterrent, but if I like the other cast members and/or the story I'll watch the show. I also forgot to mention that I don't care for the male lead in K2H either. I find him quite unattractive & the story uninteresting so even if Ji Won didn't star, the show was doomed from the start for me. May be shallow as heck, but there you have it.

She's the main reason why I will not be seeing those dramas (in addition to the fact that K2H is a melo with sad ending ... so I've heard). Everyone keeps saying they're must watch TV, but no, not for me ... not anytime soon. I'd rather spend my time watching shows that give me joy, with actors who don't give me an impulse to murder them. Haha ...
I see you have A Gentleman's Dignity on your PTW list. That dreaded woman, Kim Na Heul, stars in it as the male lead's love interest. She almost ruined the show for me, but I gritted my teeth and suffered through because overall I liked the various story arcs.
I'm starting to think I like J-dramas slightly more than K-dramas, but k-movies more than j-movies.
Hey, from what you know of my taste, if anything, do you think I will like Reply 1997?

Yes, it's pretty popular on here. One of the most recommended films I've seen since I first joined the community. Probably because most MDLers are hardcore fans of the actor. There are probably other 'classics', but I can't recall them now.

Re: my so called 'hate' list ... yah, how come you classify my list as a 'hate' list and yours as a 'dislike' list? LOL ... ok, I may 'hate' these women as actors, but not as people. Their interpretations of characters just annoy me in pretty much every movie I've seen them in. The only exception is perhaps Ha Ji Won in Closer to Heaven. Strangely I didn't mind her as much in that movie, but everything else I've seen her in pissed me off. While I find Choi Jung Yoon in her roles to be whiney and spineless, I find Ji Won & Kim Na Heul to be rather obnoxious and entitled. I don't like characters like that.

Japan wasn't very high on my bucket list until recently. I've started to really like Japanese language & customs. I think their dramas are more realistic and less childish than Korean dramas. So now I really want to go. I'm on imdb, but it's not as good as MDL in helping you keep track of what you've watched, will watch etc. My fav genres are thrillers, crime/gangster, horror. I like dramas too (cinematic drama, not tv dramas).

OMG, make sure you watch Always/Only You asap. I can't believe no one told you about this before. It's a MDL classic! And it is really good. I'm not an overall fan of the actor but he's good in this and he has amazing chemistry with the female lead! Have fun with Summertime. It's an interesting movie & a chance to see Ryu Soo Young in a darker, grittier role. This film was actually his feature film debut. He plays a role that's the complete opposite of the safe, sometimes boring roles he plays in dramas.

So I finished Bad Couple, kind of. Had to skip ep 14 & 15 because I was losing patience as it dragged on & on & on. That's the thing with K-dramas they drag things out too much and then attempt to tie up all the lose ends in the last episode. A feat which is almost always impossible & makes the endings seem rushed. Bad Couple's ending was nice, I liked it, but overall I wouldn't say I liked the drama. The female lead was interesting & likable, but I hate when characters keep secrets for no good reason. Not when it's more in their favour to tell the truth. Just makes me wonder if the writers think their viewers are idiots or something. I didn't like the secondary story line with Choi Jung Yoon either. Her character eventually grew a backbone, but she was still annoying as hell. Moreover I'm not a fan of younger man/older woman romances, esp when the age diff is huge. I'm giving it 5/10.

I have days when I love to waste time on You Tube videos so I just might check it out! :-)

Oh right, I forgot you totally dig sad movies! I'm the complete opposite.

Ok, have you seen A Dirty Carnival with Jo In Sung? A gangster flick, pretty darn good. Maybe that's more to your taste? I'd totally recommend it.

Well, you shouldn't be disappointed. You're gonna see my crush Ryu Soo Young like he's never been seen before! I was bit shocked ... but in a good way. ;-) ::wink::wink::

LOL! Although I do think it's a travesty to give AMTR a 7, I understand your reasoning. It was one of my first ever K-movie too and I felt the same way at its close. I bawled, man. I also remember having the same feeling at the end of my first K-drama, Padam Padam (also starring Jung Woo-sung, hero in AMTR). But PP devastated me & left me depressed for days, but with AMTR I was able to shake my sadness quite quickly after the film ended. I thought the end was bittersweet rather than downright gut-wrenching & sad.

For a nice romantic drama with happy ending, have you seen Always/Only You starring Yoo Ji Sub or whatever his name is? It's pretty nice. A little scarce on the lovin' though, but very sweet.

Oh right, I don't watch variety shows. There are way too many dramas and movies that I have to watch. There just wouldn't be enough time to squeeze everything in. What is it about though? Is it any good?
You've got yourself a deal. I'll probably watch Mutt Boy in the coming days. Have you seen Season of Good Rain with Jung Woo-sung? It's a nice movie. Check it out. Do you like Lee Byung-hun?

Yes, absolutely. I was just curious to see whether our tastes were similar when it comes to his dramas. His best performance for me is in the movie Summertime because he played against type. I've seen a couple of his dramas but none of them are favourites. He plays basically the same guy in all of them. Handsome, affable, a gentleman ... more or less. It was nice to see him in a darker, grittier role in Summertime. If you haven't seen that move, I'd recommend it.

Jung Woo-sung is another actor I like a lot. Ever since I saw him in A Moment to Remember & Season of Good Rain. He's a really handsome guy and a good actor too. Haven't seen Mutt Boy, but now that you've recommended it I'll definitely watch it & let you know what I think. As for Concert GAG, what is that really? Is it a drama?

If you ever go to Holland the Human Body museum is recommended, but it's about an hour or so outside of Amsterdam. LOL, re the sex museum. I know what you mean. It probably wouldn't be very popular in many countries. There's also a sex museum in Manhattan (New York, where I'm from). I hear its a lot better than the one in Amsterdam. I've never been but I look forward to visiting it when next I'm home.

My all time favourite non-Asian movie? Oh dear. I've seen a lot of great films in my lifetime, but I have a bad memory so I can't remember all of them. Even my favs. I wish there was a site like MDL to keep track of my Western (and other) movies. But if I had to pick one that I can remember right now it would probably be Roman Polanski's The Pianist. What about you?

I'll let you know if I recommend Bad Couple after I finish it. My internet has been acting really strange today so I haven't been able to watch any new episodes.

I thought about it some more and the drama I was thinking of is Saranghae (I LOVE YOU), not Soulmate. Sorry for the mix up. How are you liking Soulmate though? Worth a watch?

I took a peek at your list and I noticed you gave A Moment to Remember a 7? Come on, that movie was awesome! Guts you straight in the heart, no? :-) And you dropped Coffee Prince. I can understand this because it does drag quite a bit in the middle, but the last few episodes are so good. Gong Yoo is a sight for sore eyes & I like Yoon Eun Hye. There's never a fake kiss in any of her dramas.

I see you've added Summertime. Actually I was planning to recommend this to you. It's not a bad movie. Got lots of lovin'! ;-) Let me know when you watch it.

I wouldn't say I love him. He's kinda typecast as the refined pretty boy. Always playing the same kind of roles. You can tell that, outside of show business, he's from an upper class background. He's not the usual type of guy I crush on, but there's just something about him that draws the eye. You didn't answer my question, which drama did you not like him in? Yeah, Ha Jeong Woo is great. I also want to see The Yellow Sea, but I'm waiting for when I'm in the mood for a sad movie.

At last a fairly sensible review of Queen In-Hyun's Man! That drama is soooo overrated it's unbelievable. I fought it out for 15 episodes, but like you I became dissatisfied with it after the first few episodes. I kept watching in the hope that it gets better. Finally at episode 15 I had to give up. So far the only drama I've dropped. I'll never succumb to hype again.

Ah yeah! I remember now. He was the jerk boyfriend who wanted her to do that thing. Haha. I have to watch it again just to see him. I first saw him in Nameless Gangster in October last year & really liked him, but I didn't become a bonafide fan until later, after I had seen Madeleine. That's probably why I forgot him. I haven't seen all his movies yet, about 3 or 4 so far. I will though because he's such an interesting actor. Really looking forward to seeing him in The Berlin Files.
As for Ryu Soo Young ... haha. Why are you moody with him? And in what dramas/movies do you love and hate him? And why? Haha, I'm just curious. Have you seen Summertime? Damn, there you'll see him like you never have before. Buck naked and doing some very wild things to an actress called Kim Ji-Hyeon.

You're not alone when it comes to museums. Many travellers I know don't like them either. I don't mind them. Le Louvre is okay to visit once since it has many of the most famous pieces in the world, but I tend to visit museums that aren't just your standard art museum. For eg the sex museum in Amsterdam or the museum of the Human Body, also in the Netherlands, among other great, interesting ones around the world. The Human Body museum is awesome. The museum itself is the shape of the human body & you get to walk, slide or crawl through all the organs etc. It was really fun, a totally different experience than the usual.
I know of Banksy and I've seen bits and pieces of the doc about him but not in its entirety. I totally understand that feeling of wanting to get violent toward a character. I have MANY examples of those, just have a look at my profile! Hahaha!:)

I do. EVERY show I've watched her in, she gets on my last nerve with her whiny, scaredy cat demeanour. She acts like a dumb, clueless, immature 12 yr old, always letting other people walk all over her & NEVER has the balls to stand up for herself. I HATE characters like that. I hated her in Ojakgyo Brothers & I hate her in Bad Couple. Not everyone has to be a strong, pioneer woman, but for god sake grow a pair every once in a while! Please! Had I known she was in BC, I would have skipped it because I know she was bound to piss me off. Grrr...

I've been meaning to ask you about Soulmate. Is that the same Soulmate where the hero and heroine met on a train, she mistakenly thinks he groped her and later gets him fired from his job? If it is, then I wasn't able to finish the series. In fact I don't think I even finished EP1. Keep me up to date as to how its going for you.

Yeah, I added it after reading the article. It sounds like my kind of movie. I'll probably watch it in the coming days.

Re: BC, the female lead is an interesting character. She reminds me a lot of myself & her love interest is Ryu Soo Young who I have an unlikely crush on. He's not really my type. I prefer my men a bit more rugged, and less refined (like he is). But there's just something about him ...

Anyway, I'm 10 episodes in & still not sure I like it. The heroine has a secret that I want to come out & it's bugging me that they're dragging it out. Moreover, the woman needs a sandwich ... in fact, several. She's way too thin & it's not very attractive. Another thing is that Choi Jung Yoon is in it. I can't stand her. Her characters r always so weak-willed & whiney I just want to reach in & punch her in the face! :)
