Wow, that's pretty snowy! Here in Norway the winter is the longest season, lasting several months. Right now it's been nice & sunny and everyone thought Spring has finally arrived, but it's freezing and we had a lot of snowfall over night. Summers are usually quite rainy. That's why if I can I try to go travelling to places warmer and with more stable weather. This year I don't know if any travel will be possible, but I hope I can squeeze something in. Can I ask how old you are, if you don't mind?

The entire city? That can't be. I'll find the places mostly locals visit. My mom is from a Caribbean island so I remember many vacations to paradise when I was little. I loved it. I definitely love warm weather more than cold weather. Life sure is funny, though, because I ended up living in one of the coldest countries on the planet!
I hope one day I'll be able to escape! ;-)

Haha, I understand your reservation, but there's nothing to be shy about. We're all human beings & most of us will have sex at some point or another. Moreover, the explicit scenes are secondary to the film. They don't define it, it's what's happening underneath to the characters, mentally & emotionally that's so interesting. You see a playful, if licentious, pair embark upon a sexual odyssey & then slowly it grows into something darker and darker. As a filmmaker myself the whole film for me was like a masterclass on directing, & for those reasons I loved it.
I heard both actors were ridiculed and shunned in Japan after the film's release, the woman more so than the man. Of course. Apparently she fled Japan and is now living alone in Paris.
Cinema is my passion so it's my pleasure to rec. Have you seen In The Mood For Love yet? Lemme think about it some more & get back to you.

Yeah, those were some pretty intense scenes! The egg scene, my jaw was on the floor ... shiiiit. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. I definitely think she's crazy & I think Kichi-chan's ego enjoyed the attention and adoration this young thing showered on him. So he humours her & succumbs to servicing her bizarre demands, but before he knows what hit him he's totally sucked into her darkness & in some way becomes possessed himself. I kinda lost all respect for him when he molested Sada (when he first met her and she's cleaning the floor), but mostly for his rape of the maid.
Re: Shades, I have it on my plan to read mountain, haven't gotten around to it yet. I used to read romance novels, but haven't read one in years. Once again that's down to my tastes evolving. Now when I do read it's mostly non-fiction.

Frivolous Wife was a cute story & I agree with you. It would've made an awesome drama! Speaking of dramas, have you seen Bad Couple? If yes, how did you like it?
Madeleine was also nice. The best thing about it is that a young version of eye candy Jo In Sung is in it ... lol. Of the two I think I liked FW better though. Hope you enjoy it (Madeleine) nonetheless! :-)

Haha, that sound like quite a trip! Glad you guys got out of that bind in one piece! :-)
Yes, I'm a water baby I'll definitely squeeze in a trip to the beach if I can. Mostly though, I want to experience Istanbul as a local would. That's the kind of travel adventure I enjoy the most. I hate places that are filled with tourists.

Haha, Taken & Hostel? Letting your imagination run away with you, huh? But I understand your fear ... I feel the same way about airplanes. There's a documentary on National Geographic about plane crashes and why they happen. I'm fascinated by the science behind how airplanes are flown, but at the same time it puts the fear of God in me when I travel because I'm always worried the plane is going to crash. LOL
As for Istanbul it's actually my next destination whenever I find the time to travel next. I can't wait to visit the old city and see all the monuments! I lived in Austria for a year and it's a beautiful country. I also didn't mind Bratislava when I visited there, but when it comes to Eastern Europe I prefer Prague and Tallin. What happened to you in Bratislava?

I know the feeling. Had a dry patch at the turn of the year, but a good drama can get you out of the slump. That drama for me was Japanese family drama, Brother Beat. I absolutely loved it & would recommend it to anyone. Now I'm currently watching Bad Couple (surprisingly good so far!) and Salaryman (no impression formed yet, but everyone says this is great!). So that's my Easter holiday line-up as of now. Maybe you've seen all these dramas already? I know you're waaaay more addicted than me! hehehe

Hehe, I told you he had the magic stick! He was the love doctor. Sure do hope I find a husband like that one day ... Hehehe! :-) One of the scenes that shocked me the most and revealed the extent of Sada's mad obsession was when she told Kichi-san to pee inside of her because she couldn't bear for him to be away from her for a second. She didn't even want sleep to rob her of her time with him. How do you explain such behaviour? She could not be of sound mind, could she? I mean seriously. She claimed to love him & he her but this was no love story. This was such a sick, self-destructive relationship that was bound to end in tragedy. The movie IS timeless. It didn't feel dated at all. If I didn't know beforehand that it was made in the '70s I could've easily assumed it was a recent production. That's the work of a goood director right there. Masterpiece ... ish.

LOL, your retirement plan sounds great, if a bit typical. lol Maldives is awesome, and definitely on my bucket list, but I still want to go to Thailand. It's gorgeous there and not every part of it is crawling with tourists. I'd go to places off the beaten track that's not too densely populated. I have a good friend of mine living there so he knows all the good places. I've been planning an around the world trip where I spend 1 yr just travelling for a while now, but life keeps getting in the way! :-)

Well, I've seen some really great Japanese films and dramas lately and I'm starting to like the language & culture a lot more than I used to. I also like that in a lot of Japanese dramas the characters act more in line to modern times when it comes to sex & other adult themes. I love K-dramas, but I hate how they jump and skirt around sex, pregnancy and just normal challenges relationships face in a modern world. That's why of late I find myself wanting to watch more Japanese dramas. Not more than K-dramas, just more than I used to. Before I didn't actively seek out J-dramas. I'd watch them if someone recommended something, but that was it. Now I pay attention to all the reviews and the recs that are posted on the MDL wall. :-)

Haha, your post made me laugh. That's one of the things I hated about the men in AGD. Their faces looked stiffer than the women's and they dressed waaaay too metrosexually for my tastes.
And actually my life isn't all that exciting ... at least not at the moment. I lead a very stressful life and I feel way older than I actually am. I wish I could move somewhere warm and friendly, Thailand for eg, for a year and just relax, eat great food and be inspired. Don't want to complain too much, though, because I know there are many people in the world who have it much worse than me! :-)

Pucca, I had the same problem. I did not get any message notifications for almost 24hrs so I didn't even realize that people had posted stuff on my wall until I scrolled down and checked manually. MDL bug, I guess. Seems to be working normally again though.

Salaryman (History of a). Don't know what to make of it yet since I just started. I'm going to watch That Winter, but I'm waiting for it to finish airing. What genre is it? Is there any romance?

Wow, that was a pretty deep review of Sorry I Love You, Genger. I never wanted to watch that drama because I hear it's pretty filled with sadness, but your review makes me want to revisit that decision.

I've been hearing about Be Strong Geum Soon lately. I'm not sure if it's my type a drama but I'll check it out. Be sure to tell me how it goes when you're done. I don't really care for sad endings! :-)
As for me, I just started History of a Salaryman last night. It comes highly recommended by a lot of my MDL friends so I finally decided to check it out.
And yeah both Madeleine & Frivolous Wife are okay. Nice fluff movies to pass the time. Hope you like them!

If you like The Social Network, you'll like Rich Man, Poor Woman. It's set in a similar tech world with the same boy genius who becomes an overnight billionaire. The heroine, as well as the hero, might bug you a bit at the start, but later on they both grow into people you can root for.
Yeah, check out Realm. If it's 'different' you're looking for, you'll definitely get it here. Abe Sada in this movie, and real life, was a fascinating character. This man must have had the magic stick because Sada was obsessed with him to the point of madness. You'll see what I mean when you watch the movie. Enjoy!
P.S. Some of the best movies were made in days past. Don't let the date faze you. This is a brilliantly made picture with very high production values & acting. I love these old Asian films because they give a great view of the region's rich cultural traditions.
I hope one day I'll be able to escape! ;-)
