Thanks for request!
Wow, I see that you have seen A LOT! How long have you been an addict? Noticed also that you cite In the Mood for Love as one of your favs. It's one of my all time favs too! Man, talk about classic. One of best arthouse films ever made! May I ask in what region are you located?

Thanks for the request. Omo, what an eye candy manifest your profile is! I love it! I really got to watch a drama with Hyun Bin and Song Seung-hun. These oppas are FINE!!!
Yeh, a lot of people give Lie to Me a bad rap, but I liked it too. I like that the kisses were the real thing & not those dreaded frozen I saw a ghost nonsense. That's why I like Yoon Hye Eun ... she does amazing kisses in all the dramas I've seen her in! :)
I think your job is even more inspiring because you're doing something that's very meaningful to humanity. I love kids, but I couldn't do what you do. I don't think I have the patience nor the emotional fortitude to be around suffering children on a daily basis. I'd probably have an emotional break down or something. My mom always wanted me to become a nurse because she says it's a stable profession, but I can't do it because I can't bear to see people suffer. Keep up the good work, you're doing a great job.

When it comes Asian dramas, I don't know if it's because they're still relatively new to me or if it's a mild case of OCD, but it's very hard for me to drop stuff. Once I start a drama I somehow have to keep watching even though it may start to piss me off. I always hold on to the foolish hope that things will get better. They usually never do. That's why I try to investigate a drama thoroughly before I invest in watching it. Once I do decide to drop, though, I rarely go back & watch it.
Ironically the same isn't true for Western dramas. I drop them like hot cookies if they're not going the way I expected. Why on earth there's a difference I can not explain but that's just how it is.
I have no preference when it comes to length. What's important is the story. If it's intriguing or addresses a topic I'm interested in I'll watch the drama no matter the length.

It is stressful, but there's no other work I'd rather be doing. When I manage to convince people of the merits of a project I conceived & developed and they agree to depart with their cash just to make it happen, it's an amazing feeling. It's like a mother who has just given birth - you immediately forget all the pain and hardship of labour the minute you see the child. And when I'm able to take off my producer's hat & put on my creative hat as a writer/director that's even better. I love the creative process slightly better than the business process, but they go hand in hand.
Anyway, we're still a way away from where we want to be. We're working hard to get our first feature film made. It's also our dream to make such a beautiful film as 3-iron even once in our lifetime.

I think you're getting your terms mixed up. Independent filmmaking & freelancing are not quite the same. Here in Norway the various gov funding bodies for the arts act like the big Hollywood studios. As an independent I try to finance my projects thru means other than the establishment. That's what it means to be an independent. The vast majority of filmmaking these days is done independently bcuz if you wait around for the studios to accept your projects you'll wait forever. Better to find your own financing & make the films you want to make. Sometimes it's inevitable, when we've exhausted all other avenues we have no other choice but to seek gov funding. I'm not a freelancer bcuz I'm not renting myself out to different companies. I own my own production company where we -- my partners and I -- develop, finance and produce projects we're passionate about.

Well, of course, you have to be careful about the sort of info you publish about yourself online. I was speaking more in terms of drama related likes & preferences, why you like asian dramas, hobbies, crushes and the like. You don't have to reveal your entire life story just to be friendly and chat with people. At least that's the way I look at it. I'm open as a book, but I'm prudent. I'm not going to tell strangers my address or where I work or other sensitive information like that.

LOL, yeah, you can tell a lot from people's list even when they attempt to stay anonymous. Lately I've been get a lot of friends request from some really young teenagers, 13, 14 yr olds & I have no idea why. Sometimes I can't tell their age, but like you can deduce how old they are by their list or reviews. I also prefer to accept requests from people who have something written on their profile just so you have an idea of who that person is. I don't like it when people are too secretive about who they are and what they like. This is a social network for drama lovers so I don't understand why some people refuse to share. I'm probably just biased since I'm as open as book. For better or worse, if anyone wants to know anything about me or my opinion on something I'll freely answer them.

As for showbiz, it's all about who you know. If you're independently wealthy you can probably buy your way in if you have no network, but if you're a poor man's daughter like me all doors are closed to you unless you start producing your own stuff, which is what I do. I love cinema too much to sit around & wait for someone to give me a chance. That said, my job is perhaps the # 1 stress factor in my life. As an independent sometimes I'm able to pay myself well. If I manage to get full financing for a project. In such cases every1 gets paid, but if not my wages are the first to get cut becuz the producer must pay everyone else before s/he pays one's self. Most of my time is spent trying to convince people to invest or writing funding apps after funding apps to gov bodies. It's draining work & sometimes after all the effort you put in you're still not successful in getting the money.

My impulse to watch particular genres is driven by mood & emotions. Different moods call for a specific genre & I usually don't switch until that mood changes. Depending on my circumstances I can harbour the same mood for months or it can switch within days or weeks. Sometimes if I'm stressed bcuz of life & generally not in a good head space there are particular genres that give me escape & relief. If I have equilibrium I'm more experimental & open to try new things, but even so I won't change genres unless my mood changes. It's just that in this state of mind my mood tends to change more often. I hope I'm making sense. LOL I'm not bipolar, just a typical creative. Emotional, moody, the like.

The only reason I can remember him in anything is because he's certified eye candy. Bad acting aside, the man is super fine. Now you know, pucca, that I'm one shallow agasshi! LOL

I get it! I was in a slump all of December and most of January, but I made a come back somehow.
Nothing's wrong with a little variety so enjoy your time away! :-)
Hey, a new season of Game of Thrones starts tonight! Yay! I love this show & can't wait to start watching again. I hate that I have to wait a whole year to start watching my favourite shows after a season ends, but everything is everything.
Did you get a chance to start Spartacus? I think you'll like that one. No?

LOL, what knowledge exactly are you talking about? Do you mean the number of shows & movies I've seen?
I'm confident in what I enjoy so I seek out those dramas and movies & watch them voraciously. I'm rarely swayed by hype and will only take recommendations from people I know have the same or similar taste as my own. Otherwise I dance to be beat of my own tune. With that said though I don't think I'm more knowledgeable than anyone. I'm a creative and a cinephile so I probably watch more movies than the average person. :-)
When it comes to OST, music inspires a lot of the writing I do for film & that's how I use songs from the dramas and movies I watch. I create scenes based on the emotions they evoke. I usually don't notice the OST unless they transport me to a place beyond the actual drama.

No, Seducing Mr. Perfect is the only Korean show/movie I've seen him in. Otherwise I've seen him in a couple American shows. I first saw him in the Wolverine movie that was released a few years ago. I still think he's a poor actor. I haven't seen Iris 2 yet & I'll probably watch it in the distant future. I wanted to watch Iris 1 for Lee Byung-hun oppa but I decided to skip it because I heard it doesn't end well for him.

Your review of Seducing Mr. Perfect made me LOL!
I gave it a 6 in my review, but I totally get where you're coming from in yours. They had no chemistry whatsoever. The English/Korean dialogue did not work for me either & as much as I love him Daniel Henney is a horrible actor. I think he's best suited as a commercial actor. With his pretty looks and hot bod, that's probably where his only talent in the performing arts lie. As for the actress's face ... omo, I didn't think about it when I was watching the movie, but you're sooo right! As I recall the woman could barely move her face.

That's why I think it's due to societal pressure. These dramas are shown on national TV & to gain a large viewership they probably don't want to "corrupt" younger viewers, even if said viewers are engaging in far more lascivious activity in real life. As for J-dramas, in my opinion they're only slightly different from K-dramas in this regard. The vast majority that I've seen don't acknowledge the characters' sexuality either, but there are a few which do (Pride, Buzzer Beat ... Brother Beat too to a minor extent). The only K-drama I've seen where the characters have sex & really kiss & act like a real couple is Coffee Prince. To an extent Lie To Me as well (they shared some passionate kissing, but no implication of sex like in Coffee Prince). I also saw Autumn's Concerto & yeah the kiss scene in the beginning was pretty believable, but the later ones weren't.
